@@yotamshitrit6820 There are some cards which are legendary, but aren't tutorable by Sisay. The cycles of Kamigawa flip cards that turn into legendaries when flipped, some battles that transform into legends and westvale abbey are examples. Searching scyfall for "t:legendary is:permanent game:paper" gives 2769 permanents in paper magic that have "Legendary" somewhere on the piece of cardboard (be it right way up, upside-down, on the back or silver border) Searching scryfall for "t:legendary game:paper -is:commander t:creature f:edh" gives 27 cards. Some are only legendary when upside-down, others are only legendary on the back and the others are melded cards. Searching scryfall for "banned:edh t:legendary t:creature" gives 9 cards. You could tutor these with Sisay, but you're only allowed to do it in Modern and non-commander eternal formats that allow rares. Finally, searching scryfall for "t:legendary is:permanent" gives 2888 cards as this includes Alchemy legendaries.
@@yotamshitrit6820 well, you know some schmuck's gonna comment 5 years later and go "well akchually there's now 3219" like they are smart or something.
The influx of legendaries is legit making our playgroup build a new format. ONLY your commander can be legendary. No legendaries in the 99. It saves learning 100s of new cards every set, and feels like older magic again.
There's a reason she has a premier cEDH deck. Her ability to tutor for entire combo lines and win the game with only activated abilities at that point is incredibly hard to stop.
I never really payed any attention to the commanders that will cost me ungodly amounts of money to build, but here I am, 7 beers in on a Sunday night, realizing that this one is the next commander I’m building. And my coworkers and boss will kill me shortly thereafter. Thank you Mr. Maldhound.
there's two main versions/sides of the deck the one where you use her to fetch your combos that win you the game and the one where you use her to fetch your stax/hatebears to make your opponents lose the game either way you run it, you WILL have people either angry she worked or shocked she can do all that!
The most fair thing you can do with this card is that scene from Avengers where Stephen Strange, MD teleports in every named character in the franchise.
"Oh, surely the tomfuckery is at a minimum. I'm just gonna go see what sort of synergy this card could even have--" *googles Sisay decks* *reads Cleopatra* "Oh."
I don’t get why people are freaking out over Cleopatra in specific. It’s 4 mana. Sisay needs 4 power to grab her and start scaling, where’s she gonna get two more power from- [over an entire EDH deck’s worth of 2 mana legendary creatures with two colors] “Ow.” [and Kaust from the most recent precons for good measure]
@@lancesmith8298 She actually needs 5 power; there's a 'less than' in her activated ability. Still not hard to get to, mind. That said as someone who played Sisay for a long time I... don't think Cleopatra is particularly important to the deck? Sisay doesn't care about card advantage. She has infinite card advantage. And for things that scale Sisay Cleopatra is super tame; four drops need to be adding a lot more than one power to be worth it here.
I'm sorry Mald, but not every legendary creature does crimes. Please meet Isamaru, Hound of Konda. Arguably the weakest candidate for commander of a deck ever.
@@HeavyMetalMouse At the very least The Fairest Boy. Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful is also a Very Good Boy, but he's one of those Legendary cards that does bullshit. You'd think Mono-W is fair, it's just a partner commander so he can only get like one other color to play with, right? Thrasios, 2 mana Simic Partner Legend that draws you cards, and now you've got all of Bant to search for legendary PERMANENTS. Not creatures, PERMANENTS. Land drops make the dog bigger, Theros gods make the dog bigger, some artifacts make the dog bigger, if you've got Leyline of Singularity even your tokens make the dog bigger before they evaporate.
Isamaru is the head of the voltron gaslighting committee I have never seen a deck so consistently hit Stoneforge Mystic on curve as Isamaru players who just told the table "It's just a vanilla 2/2!" but then turn 3 it's holding a Hammer of Nazahn, a Commander's Plate, a Colossus Hammer, and a Shadowspear and suddenly it doesnt FEEL like a 2/2 anymore when it hits me for 18 commander damage
I still wanna build a Sisay deck with all the Baldurs Gate Backgrounds. If you think sisay is a problem normally, wait until she is given 500 new abilities
Had a deck with this, that was built entirely of cards that I bought/opened/traded for that I said "I'll make an EDH deck of this at some point" and never did
I built a theme's version of this deck where the whole goal is just about every legendary card has a fun story behind it. (For example, A Spanish version of Athreos, God of Passage is in the deck because my friend pulled one during an SCG event once and started screaming, "Atreos! Dios del Paso!" People were confused.
This commander let me bring back a favorite old deck of mine i had taken apart for years that was dwsigned to be a haphazard pile of boss monsters with deliberately minimap synergy but all that are good on their own/support themself, its a fun version of goodstuff and you never really know how itw gonna play but its always decent
"Just 20 WUBRG" I mean look it's not hard to get lots of mana but we're not gonna be out here pretending 100 mana isn't capable of egregious crimes without using a commander ability right?
Sisay is the perfect commander for a planeswalker voltron deck with Luxior. You can even toss in the ikoria mutate creatures for extra spice, and add ashaya, enchanted evening and mycosynth lattice for card type bingo.
There's nothing like taking the "random" out of your card draw in a 100 card singleton deck by essentially getting a nuke on demand whenever you want. Throw in a chromatic lantern and you don't even need to remember all 5 colors!
it should also be added that, unlike something like Go-Shintai of Lifes Origin, she does not need to tap herself in order to use the ability. You just need to pay the Manacost.
Step 0, cast Sisay Step 1, cast Dockside Extortionist, etb treasures Step 2, activate Sisay for Aminatou and get more treasures. Step 3 activate Sisay for 5 mana Nicol Bolas, use Aminatou's ability for treasures Step 4, activate sisay for Oath of Teferi GG
The being able to use any color in your Commander's rules text box is a change from when I was playing it, or maybe from the group I was playing it with. In ours it counted Casting Cost only towards allowable colors & any card that had activated abilities that weren't of their Casting Cost weren't allowed, thus Sisay auto excluded herself. Also HAVING to pay one of each color can be a HARD fix to pull off, I guarantee she'd have visited the Command Zone at least three times if you brought her out as soon as you could, but before you could activate her ability.
This old video is even funnier with the hindsight of sissay being one of the most broken decks in cedh outperforming decks like kinnan and rivaling kenrith, tivit and blue farm
Just played this deck today. Ramped a little bit, got her out then boom, vomited damage all over the table. Can’t disagree with a single thing you say but it is so fun
We had some complaints about 5c activated abilities feeling like handouts to commander players, but more stringent tribal commanders like go-shintai are really good to see, when piloted tribally. An excellent example is Urtet, Remnant of Memnarch, who I continue to request of a roast of! (Or wernog+bjorna)
Started building this after I got tired of my Jodah, Archimage deck. I originally had Sisay in the deck, and decided to use her instead. You're right.....she bad 🤩🤯🔥😭😍☠️
Just recently went against a Go-Shintai deck that ran Sisay...Never have I seen so many cards get slammed down before we are even a quarter of the way through Main Phase 1.
Damn. Only 18 days of asking and they get it. I've been begging for Eight-and-a-Half-Tails for at least a year now and I can't even get Mald to like my comments
Actually, she's one of the payoffs for infinite mana in my Princess Buttercup (sisay) deck. Ioreth of the healing house and Inigo Montoya give me infinite untaps when I get infinite mana and then I make infinite 0/2 eggs and then give them all +1/+1 counters with kenrith.
Now this may be hard, but a way to give Jeganta haste is enough (it's a 12 mana combo if you try to do everything at once, giving Jeganta haste not included)
Time for you to do one on Vhal, Candlekeep Researcher, because everybody loves a thicc librarian that only wants to get thiccer so she can infinitely ramp and untap with every mana-hungry untap ability ever. Sword of the Paruns, Umbral Mantle, Staff of Domination, etc.
The amount of dumb shit I can do with Melek and River Song is childs play to what maner of hells you can unleash when all you need to do is tutor any legendary in your deck.
Considering that Sisay's entire bloodline is the result of Urza trying to prove that eugenics has meaningful value, I think her being a good person is enough to get a pass for all the crimes she's capable of.
I love how she is not just a tutor SHE PUTS THE CARD ON THE BATTLEFIELD!! but hey she is limited by her strenght... right.... right? Yeah sure bro just let me use her ability and now i can put a legendary card that costs less than... ok I have 2 + 3.5÷67×(789.765 × 56.8)= that's equal to... idk a quintillion
I mean surely there aren't any cards that add +1/+1 to other legendary creatures? Probably not right? Right!?! Oh tehre aren't. That's a relief. What? They all add X instead?
Usually I’d say well at least she’s not BOGO Jodah. But with green is high probable infinite mana = infinite rainbow mana = take your deck and turn it face up onto the battlefield then shuffle. And no one needs that.
For anyone who wants to build this, push her power to 8, tutor for chromatic orrery, then teferi temp archmage and then oath of teferi and after that you can just go do the most obscure shit
WUBRG and any other creature in addition to sissay at the end of the previous person's turn. WUBRG into cult of the absolute, the one mana legendary background. Untap, upkeep, sac kinnan or whoever let you get this party started and pay WUBRG for tezzeret that tutors out birthing pod or, if you have any legendary with non black colors still alive, a Vivien from new capena that acts as a birthing pod. Either way, sisay is 3, guardian of felidar is 4 and flickers your birthing pod proxy, karmic guide is 5 and brings back felidar, who can get sacked again for kikki jikki (5) who can clone karmic guide and bring back the guardian for infinite flickering the fair and balanced goblin with a stupid name. They made me build this, they wouldn't stop winning with demonic consultation into thassas, or that etali and food chain. That aside, bonus points for the Princess Bride secret lair, and the fact that if I wanted to show mercy, I can devolve this it into a haha funny shrines deck that takes too long to get online and then plays solitaire. Now, Day 34 of asking for Duggan Private Detective.
Agree on all points Tutors feel bad they kinda ruin the point and make every game feel the same. Add some spice in your life. Blim Comedic Genius is perfect you should do it for one of these videos. Love the content, thanks I'm advance
Sissay made me hate tutors. I adamantly refuse to play tutors in any of my decks because of her. I'll play land fetch all day but I hate tutoring for specific cards.
