Be sure to follow step by step whatever he says. I almost broke my neck because didn't fully put my head out on the side. 90kg of Dude straight out on my neck. No joke
We did this as well but when we kick our legs underneath us we feed through our whole hand and toss it over the opponent to back bridge on their back and roll on top of them. Is there a name for this? I busted my lip on this pretty bad but if I could master it I'd be good to go.
This move in wrestling is a syracuse. I will stick with the way wrestling teaches it. This might work against a low level wrestler. There are more steps needed to work against a good wrestler.
The guy explaining the tech is Marcelo Garcia. Hes widely considered one of the best submission grapplers of this generation. That doesnt make him infallible or anything but i will take his word for it if he says something works.
It doesn't work against high level wrestlers because high level wrestlers arent looking for submissions necessarily. When people go for guillotines they sacrifice a bit of control in the front headlock position. When you feel that control let up you hit the move.
Syracuse doesn't work against good wrestlers. Not in wrestling, nor MMA. 🤷♂️ Worse yet, you might end up being caught in Half Alch or the Assassin. Both which are excellent pins as well as can be turned into submissions.
This is why he’s controlling the arm with BOTH hands, unlike wrestling, and is ELBOW posting and not hand posting - doing these things avoids the counters you mention here
