I changed to Reaper just because there is so much online video information about tacking the complexity and getting the most out of it. And its all thanks to Kenny, who is just brilliant at explaining stuff and getting magic out of Reaper, often assuming no prior knowledge. He is a great teacher for those of us with the memory span of a goldfish. Its been said before; massive thanks again, Kenny!
i just wanted to say kenny ive been bouncing between daws for about 8 months. pro tools, studio one 5 pro, and reaper. thanks to your videos i have for sure settled on reaper. i was a little intimidated at first cus im 51 and not super great with computers. but your videos have really allowed me to learn its power, get comfortable, and creat a workflow that really allows me to create. so thanks ever so much
Been using this for about a month, and - after literal decades of "in the box" music making - I have to say it's the simplest, but the most useful drum machine plugin I've used. It does all the important parts without any clutter and in a really straightforward way in the interface. But as ever, Kenny, you've still given me new parts to think about, that I wasn't aware of, when using it :)
I wanted to learn more about Sitala so am so excited Kenny did this video. Can you also do one on grain synthesis and using it to make cool pads? I can't figure it out.
Hi Kenny, first of all, I just want to say thanks for all of the great Reaper videos. I am using Reaper exclusively now, and the same with your videos. I just purchased Sitala for $20, which is fine because I believe in supporting companies with good products. On this video, I am not able to open the MIDI Editor. I am double clicking, and nothing happens. If possible, can you please let me know why this is happening? Thanks! Dan Brown
I can only second all that. I use Sitala since some months as my favorite "vintage" drum machines. :-) Yamaha, Roland, Linn... way easier than using Kontakt. And a lot cheaper. So Sitala is the new sliced bread. (Wait... yaknowwaddamean...)
I love Sitala because its very simple and have the drag and drop pads. I started to chopping samples and I wanna know if have an option to stop playing a pad when a push another pad. Sometimes a wanna leave a sample playing, in other bars I want interrupt the same sample briefly, without overlay the sounds. Tks.
Fantastic as always! May I ask what is the plug-in/software you use to show the keyboard on screen? Does it work on windows? I teach piano and use reaper a lot and I’ve been looking for a way students can see the keys as I play...would highly appreciate help on that regard! 😌🙏🏼
Sitala’s great. I just wish it had a trim sample function for those samples that have a little space at the beginning. That would make it a killer for me,
Sorry for question about it. In the video you let clear that the keyboard doesn't make part of Reaper. But, I would like to know what is the name of this keyboard software. Sorry for the bad english, and greetings from Brazil
So, I'm new to this. I just noticed that if there is no MIDI data already present, the MIDI editor won't open. Does that sound correct? I put in a couple of drum sounds, and then it would open. I don't know how you are able to open the editor if there is nothing there!
@@dlawlis that's true but it's so complete and yet just the right amount of stuff. just hope it doesn't stop working or something, i probably wouldn't be able to buy it if it were paid anyways
Hi Kenny, I have Reaper 6.82 and I have Windows. With the double click that you mention in the Video, I cannot enter the Midi Editor, ( I follow the same path as you do in this Video ). How can I do it? Thank you very much for your always very useful and accurate Tutorials. Good evening. Alessia.
too many ideas, no more, please this is info overload. oh, and can you explain what the width does on the track, internally, i hear it, but im not sure of the mechanics. great stuff thanks...jk about too much info.
How come I dont see the sequencer the same way? Mine fills in little yellow arrows, not blocks filled in (which I would rather have). Anyone know the setting?
Sir I following your videos all of video content is very useful but I am blind person can u help me? Please sir to download the this plugins please kindly sir
Kenny, great and informative video as usual. But I can't seem to get the drum names on the piano roll or the named notes selection in the Midi Editor. I think I missed a step.
@@DecomposerMusicSoftware Thank you, yes. That was it exactly. Which is odd as I always pay attention to select VSTi. Apparently not for following along with the tutorial this time. Thanks again and excellent product, by the way.
If I have a long sample, and I just want to use a part of it, can I cut the sample in somewhere in reaper? I tried to pull the Selected part into the sampler but the whole sample was pulled in. could you please tell me how can I solve this problem?
In the standalone, I map my tone to one of my midi controllers knobs, but when I open it in reaper, the knob doesnt affect the sample...I've changed my controller to 'control' in the midi settings in preferences but its still not affecting the sample...also, is there a way to cycle through kits? i want one sample to continue playing over a kit patch change, is this possible? also, how do i save my kits and maps for easy transfer from one pc to another? say im somewhere that has a laptop running into a pa and ive my kits and samples all saved to a usb stick and just happen to have my launchkey mini with me, could just download sitala to a random pc, plug in my usb stick and load all my kits, samples, patches and maps and perform a gig on the fly? how to i properly save my samples, kits and maps for easy transfer? how do i upload my samples to a different pc to use within that pc's sitala? i sound like an idiot, but i intentionally loaded a sample into a kit, saved it in both 'user kits' and 'save as' and then deleted the original downloaded sample off my pc to check if it removed it from the kit, but its still in the kit patch... im not sure where sitala saves the samples into the app, how would i find it? and is this the place id need to upload samples to use on a different pc with a fresh app? one more - does mapping apply to triggering and choking? its annoying having to check 8 boxes for 8 trigger buttons each time i wana make a new patch - im wanting to use 5 drum pads with 8 loop sample pads and three pads for extra chokes and such, all assigned to the same trigger pads for each kit patch to save on needing multiple maps thanks
Sitala kit files are self-contained, so when you save a .sitala file, that file contains the samples inside of it. (Sitala files are just .zip files with a different extension, and an XML file thrown in there that describes the content.)
Hi. I'm on Ubuntu. I downloaded Sitala but it installs the app. It does not show up in Reaper as a plugin at all. How can I make it work with Reaper ? Thank you
@@DecomposerMusicSoftware Hi! Thanks for the response. I'm working with the latest Windows 10 and latest Reaper, on my ThinkPad P51 (it has a 4k 15.6" display).
@@Eliyahillel I'll see if we can get things sorted to test a similar configuration there -- basically I'll see if I can reproduce the problem on a by getting Windows set up on my Macbook Pro, which should have a similar resolution. We definitely know that it's working for some folks though, so it's a matter of figuring out if we can figure out why it works for some folks and not for you. (It'll also be about a week before I'll be back to where I have an extra disk I can use for a Windows install -- our other developer also has a Windows laptop, but it's non-HighDPI.)
