Sith Cortosis Armor EXPLAINED 

We saw in Star Wars the Acolyte that Qimir (the sith character) was using some sort of special mineral called Cortosis.
Cortosis is a mineral special to star wars lore that can actually deflect, and disable light sabers for a few seconds at a time, making it extremely effective against lightsaber wielders like Jedi and Sith.
We saw Cortosis in the Star Wars Purge comic originally, where it was used against Darth Vader, but to no avail in the end.
