I remember when I saw this scene in theaters, I was like "Holy Shit!" It was not what I was expecting 😂

I think this works because the director, David F Sandberg used to work on horror before this. Just like James Wan with Aquaman, both managed to use their horror skills perfectly to build up tension. By having a former horror director to make this scene, it really works beautifully for the darker roots

If this happened at LexCorp, Lex would simply laugh in Sivana's face before killing him and dispersing the Sins with one of his many anti-Superman contingencies.

Mark Strong or Bryan Cranston would've been the perfect actor to play Lex than Eisenberg eventhough imo Eisenberg didn't do a terrible job but not that great either

He is a brutal heartless bastard who lives for the concept of "more" and is willing to shit on governments and people to get it. When his fortune's gone in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, he's domineering, dismissive, and demanding, all in the name of putting himself on a pedestal. Jesse Eisenberg's Luthor was a modern millionaire, a libertarian weasel with an abusive past who believed that anyone who had power was evil and embraced that idea to the point of madness. And really, who needs to be suave? An Orange pig got into the white house by squealing as loudly as he could at someone else's expense. In the words of DCAU Lex "when money talks, people listen". Literally every version of Lex Luthor from his debut onward has been a godless Randian ideal who would commit insurance fraud in the name of ego (which he did, check out Lex Luthor: the Unauthorized Biography). I don't want to be charmed by this bald bastard! He literally hates someone to death because his own mellow is harshed. From all I've read, from John Byrne to Scott Snyder, from Clancy Brown to Rainn Wilson, Lex Luthor is a vicious scheming little asshole who hates Superman for no good reason and takes any excuse he can to hear his own voice. Which is pretty much how he was in BVS. You can have Mark Strong play Lex Luthor, but I guarantee no one will like it. Because he'll play it the way he sees fit and I know that won't gel with the "transplant my childhood to reality" aesthetic that people attach to superhero adaptations. I expect none of this to mean anything to you. But I'm not going to debate this anymore since I'm burned out on having to justify why I like a movie about Superheroes. So please, have a nice day.
