Boom! Nice piece of gear and you have to love those types that have duel purpose. Glad it didn’t leak. Looking forward to the set up vid.

So far I'm pretty shocked at how easy it seems to setup. Maybe I'm just getting better at pitching those Lunar Solo style shelters.

I'm loving that Cape. I'm still on the fence about it being an adequate shelter for a guy my size, but as a rain poncho this thing is great.

Tuba Solo the Hiker Is it smaller than the Lunar Solo?

I've always wanted to try out the GWC as a poncho it seems bulletproof so that's a given, but now as a shelter, in a serious downpour, that's the question. Great job here Steve. 👊🏻

I have the green version and love it. Im in the process of making myself a Inner net tent for it as the SMD one is just to small.. Im 6 and 220 and have plenty of room. I dont use it as a poncho though.

Interesting...yeah I need to take a better look at the GWC as my initial impressions make me think that there wouldn't be enough room for a big guy. Maybe its time for another "Fat Guy in a Little Tent" video. And yeah..that inner just from the specifications on the website seemed like it was better suited for the average built person.

Nice pancho steve. Cant wait for a trail review of it. How durable will it be hiking thru some brush on the trail?

Hey David...yeah...wow...I guess the one positive is that the material is rather slippery but yeah you bring up a great point. Guess that would be the case with any poncho. Yeah the 15D material would not do well if you get it snagged on something or have to go under a tree limb and it gets caught. Those limbs always seem to catch me as I never seem to ever get low enough lol.

That would be my concern as well. The east side of San Jacinto would shred that thing in a hurry! However, I’m still intrigued.

How tall are you Steve? I am 1,62 m and the poncho is around my ankles. Too much fabric flapping around there.

I'm 6'0". Make sure you attach the extra material to the toggles on the inside. Remember too that you'll have a backpack on when using the poncho so theoretically there will be less material overall when its deployed in the field. Take care and happy adventuring!
