Six upsets that crushed March Madness brackets 

The problem is that UVA was offense-challenged, so while I surely did not expect it or pick it, not as stunning as basketball bluebloods MSU and Duke going down. AZ has choked many years before, so this one can just be added to their Wall of Shame. A weak Pac 10/12 does not prepare them for the Big Dogs. I remember in 1992 their alums taking out billboards in Atlanta, and ETSU knocked them off, and then my Wolverines crushed the Buccaneers in Round 2! The Cats also lost to Santa Clara one year from the powderpuff WCC. They got their title in 1997 (Congrats to Lute, a wonderful man & coach), but have had many disappointments in the tourney. This year, they cannot even qualify, due to Sean Miller violations!

@@noahbenfield1958 Its because fans of their own team wouldn’t admit an upset, but would bash other teams for losing in an upset. Michigan State think that Appalachian was bigger than MTS, and vica-versa.

The difference is that Appalachian State was a 2-time defending FCS champ (and won a 3rd straight in 2007), and it was the opening game of a season, where MSU lost to MTSU, a middling Sunbelt team, in an NCAA tournament. In terms of magnitude of the loss, the Sparty flop was far worse. Michigan had a FG blocked and lost by 2, while Sparty had their doors blown off!!

Me and my group of friends we doing brackets to see who would do the best and only one of my friends picked buffalo and he was boasting about it the whole time even though he ended with the worst bracket anyways

As a Michigan fan, I am no fan of the Buckeyes, but thisxloss was self-inflicted and poorly coached. Missed 9 FTs, 16 tos, and when theirc3sxwere not dropping, refused to go inside - but still pushed it to OT and lost by 3. I was pulling for the Bucks to win, but OVERJOYED the Illini went down to Loyola, considering how nasty the fan base was!

I felt UVAxwas vulnerable, especially with all their Covid charade, so the team only got to Indiana the day before the game. Ohio is pretty good, and I recall them dumping my Michigan Wolverines with the same seeding several years ago in the first round. No repeat champ, but the ACC was bad this year- 5 teams already gone, and SYR will lose to WVU later today.

IvybLeague is not a bad upset pick, as Princeton, Harvard and Penn have played well in past NCAAs. This year, the dumb Libtards running those Ivy schools canceled the whole season - for NOTHING! Helped my school, Michigan, as Mike Smith transferred from Columbia, and has been a great PG for us.

1st time since 1974, as ORU has fielded some good teams a few decades ago. That was on Ohio State, who played poorly. ORU was solid, made FTs and were not the turnover machine the Buckeyes were. How about TX with 21 tos this vs ACU! Goodbye, Longhorns! Somebody better buy Matt McConaghy a drink today!

That south bracket got wiped out so badly it cancelled out everything. I had picked Loyola Chicago to make the sweet 16. After that first weekend I wished I picked them to go to the final four which they did.

There will likely be at least 2 #12s to beat #5s this year - Winthrop over hurting Villanova, and Georgetown over weaker Colorado. The Pac 12 is a soft league, and Patrick Ewing will have his Hoyas ready, after just winning the Big East tourney. The Buffaloes could not beat the Beavers of Oregon State, so Hoyas will be MUCH tougher! The UCSB Gauchos could be a 3rd #12 to beat a #5.
