Hi Bob. Great reaction. What a great song. Best new Christmas song in forever, from someone who's also usually not a big fan of Christmas music. It's as you say, Courtney puts so much variety of styles into a single song, that it's truly mind boggling. 'Christmas Rocks' is so different from the normal Christmas music and so cool. Courtney’s vocals soar, the lyrics are brilliant and the whole vibe is amazing. So upbeat and happy, how can this not bring a smile to your face and put you in a happy Christmas mood. it's a song that just demands that you move with it and doesn't allow you to stay still. Everybody, of any age group, can rock out to 'Christmas Rocks'. The magic of Christmas and the magic of Courtney all in one song. It doesn't get any better than that. I know you've seen all of Courtney's AGT performances, so I won't recommend that you react to those. One exception would be if you haven't reacted to another Courtney original called 'Pretty Little Thing', which she sang when she returned to AGT for Champions. She brought the house down with it, and since it was a separate AGT series, you may not have seen that one. I've put the link below. I'd also recommend that you react to the four songs on Courtney's EP called 'The Cover Sessions'. She took four recent (at the time) massive hit songs (Old Town Road, Sucker, Sign of the Times, and Someone You Loved), from across multiple genres and re-invented them all in the way Courtney thought they could have been sung. I promise none of them sound anything like the originals. Her creativity is off the charts. All four are available on Courtney's RU-vid channel. Just a heads up. These four have copyrights on them, so it's possible you may have to pause a bit and comment, or slightly blur the screen. Some have issues, others don't. It's kind of hit or miss, but all four songs are sensational, and would make terrific reactions. Thank you and thank you for watching. Yeah, for someone that hates Christmas music to like it, that says something. I agree with the things you said about Courtney and the song. I have pretty good luck with reacting to covers. I've already reacted to Old Town Road. I will react to Pretty Little Thing next week.
Hi again SD, what a tune and when you said you didn't like Christmas songs i said to myself, you'll like this one, Christmas in April, it doesn't get any better, Courtney can sing anything, such a talent ❤️👍
Another one of my favorites. Got way too many favorites for her. This for me, is one of those songs that you could change the lyrics to something not relating to Christmas and it would be a hit anytime of the year for most anyone. It is for me even with the Christmas lyrics. I love what her co-writer/musician and producer Kevin Bowe does with this song. His guitar parts are melodic/grunge at it's best. And also has that California beach like vibe to me. Kinda like "Wipe out" from the past. I doubt there's another vocalist out there today who takes what she likes from past icons and rock heroes and does it her way, so you know it's Courtney. She's a star waiting to go super nova at any moment. Probably like in the beginning of May, right after her Carnegie Hall performance. Certainly hope so. She's earned it.
I'm with you Bob I don't like Christmas music either, this and Liliacs cover of Carol Of The Bells were the only ones I listened to I love this song. Thanks and have a great day.
Oh, and before I forget, that double shot you had of hers, That Girl Don't Live Here and Call Me Back, that Call Me Back song really gave me the same vibe and energy that Meat Loaf did in his videos, especially with the likes of Objects in the Rear View Mirror and I Will Do Anything For Love.
Just add to Edwards comments check out Love hurts she did a cover of the song at Miss Lily's studio in Sweden although you're hearing it over a laptop it's still amazing thanks
I couldn't agree with you more Don, Courtney has so much vocal styling in Love Hurts you hear something different everytime you listen to it. It's unreal how amazing Courtney's vocals were at 14 years old.
Absolutely agree. "Love Hurts" (Not the one by Nazareth) is a song that shocked me even more vocally when I 1st heard her play that one, even over her laptop speakers. Never thought I could say that after that AGT audition, but vocally that one is tough to beat. And like Jimmy says, only 14. Impossible for someone at that age to sound so seasoned like someone who's been singing for 20+ years.
