You dont even begin to understand how refreshing and totally awsome it is that you do your videos the way you do. im really really excited to see what videos you come out with in the future.
This was made 2012?? :o I am glad to see that actually because that make this board even better since the design is the same for 2014. Just proves how great this design and board is. Its sold out almost everywhere and sold out fast too. This review was the best hands down! It gives so much information other than only skating video. You are the best and just got an subscriber! Getting a review from a guy with 20 years experience and still skate is amazing. Thank you so much for this video. Totally sold the board too me as I have been looking at Loaded kanthaka, Landyachtz Loco 35 and Arbor shakedown 36. This is the original board and turns out to be the best too.
Thank you. Yes, 2012 was the first year that Bustin made the YoFace deck. It became so popular that they actually created 3 different versions in 2013. Two years later and I still ride this deck all the time.
SkateboardCalifornia I got the yoface 35" a couple of weeks ago and I really like it a lot but I wish I got the 32" instead because its lighter and easier to take with you. I am short so the 32 would have been easier for ollies for me. This is what happens when you can't try boards on shop and is totally new :´( But I enjoy the 35" a lot too. ohh I also got wrong trucks, 50* cal 9" hehe should have went for the polar bear or paris street trucks.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. I agree that most review videos suck. That's why I try to give some good details and include the important stuff that everyone else leaves out. I'm happy you appreciate it.
Exactly. Downhill/freeride boards have had wheelwells for a long time. Bustin was the first company to have the foresight to put wheelwells on pool/street boards. No one had done that before them.
39" is a true longboard and the Yoface 39" has a 19" wheelbase. That might be bigger than what you're looking for. The one is this video is 35" and they now have a smaller 32". I suggest going to a skateshop and seeing the board sizes in person. Even if they don't carry the Bustin YoFace, you can at least visually have a clearer understanding of the sizes.
The Rayne Vandal has pocketed wheelwells, but there is no nose or tail on the Rayne Vandal - it has nose-mount and tail-mount truck holes. That makes the performance vastly different between the two boards.
I highly suggest you go to a skateshop and check out a 39" longboard first. A 39" deck is a lot bigger than you think. Even for someone of your height, a 39" board might be too big to use as a regular street deck. Who knows? Maybe 39" would be perfect for you. I just think you should look at some in person before you make final decision. Check out my other video "Why is wheelbase important on skateboards?" to see the correlation between your stance and board length.
ive had the yoface deck since it first came out and i love it. Its great for ollies shuv its kickflips and slides. Also its freakin indestructable which i love
I know plenty of people still play. I meant not many younger folks would have ever seen those first-edition rulebooks. They haven't been in print for like 20 years.
+Skate Girl Thanks. That's sweet of you. Life has distracted me bigtime. Not sure when I'll make more skate videos. But I would love to do so eventually.
I gotta say i just found your channel an hour ago, and i really want to point out that you are one of the most informative reviewers of skateboards. Almost all vids on youtube are sorry to say mostly useless and just saying its kool and reading the spec of the site. I always look for a thorough and informative review about specific personal experiences and contemplated plausible scenarios. Please continue to make more videos such as this (but more longbaords!!! >:D) Awsome channel dude
What is the reason for you to pick tracker trucks? Are they lighter than indy's? How heavy is the bustin board compared to the santa monica airlines? Actually am ridding a powell caballero mechanical dragon reissue, indy trucks 169's, china reds and santa cruz big balls 97 a 65mm. It is a heavy set up. Any comment to this? Than you!
I'm 13 and live in England where there is only one bowl on the county, these vids give some sweet tips and info, I'm currently riding a hosoi and am thinking about some board rails, would u recommend?
how do you get so much clearance between your board and your wheels? i have indy 215s and 60mm wheels on my 10 inch pool deck and it gets wheel bite... even with 1/4 risers
Okay, thanks for answering ! I think i'll keep the stock Tracker cones and put some Riptide or Bones barrels boardside. Don't you find the 161mm too short for a 9" wide board ? (Compared to the 169mm of a Indy)
Those DnD books gave me the biggest nostalgia trip ever haha. I was looking at getting this board for the last while, but chose a regular street deck instead to save $40. Seems like an awesome deck though.
would this deck be too heavy for me if move from a normal skate deck to this? i want to be able to do ollies, kcik flips, shuvits without adding too much effort.
I use Tracker 161 trucks. The top busing is a stock Tracker bushing and the bottom bushing is a Bones medium in back and soft in front. I run the bushings this way because two Bones bushings make the trucks turn too easy and I get speed wobbles. Two of the Tracker bushings make the trucks too stiff. So, I find combining one Bones and one Tracker works best for me.
THanks for the in depth review! I'm going to order a Yo' Face, but am wondering what size trucks you recommend for perfect fit to do some street skating. Also considering getting the 39 cause I'm 6'8" and wear size 14. Been skating since about 1987, but I still like to get my ollie and flip tricks on. Cheers!
I'm around 5'10 and i was wondering what size Board i should get. I was thinking about a 39 but this is my first board so I don't know. I want to cruise with my friends and also do tricks. Please help because i'm thinking about getting it soon. Good reviews from you guys!
Great review man, really seemed honest and informative. This will probably be my next deck purchase, probably with indy 169's and I'm uncertain about wheels.
On similar boards I've gone up to 30 (maybe near 35) but not straight bombing but with lots of predrifts and turns and things like that and is super fun. It wouldn't be too great for straight out bombing hills though...
I would say that might depend upon your size. This is a pretty big board, so it's very stable. I have no idea how big you are, or how old you are. I'd say if you're a 12 year old kid, this might be too big for that. If you're a 35 year old grown man, it could be perfect.
Just that you know: bustin didn't invent the wheel well thingy... It's been used in the longboard market for quite a while, and almost every downhill/freeride board after 2009 has it^^
I painted them. I also put Bones bushings in the bottom. I find stock Tracker bushings to be too tight and two Bones bushings are too squirrely. So, I keep a stock Tracker bushing on top and put Bones on the bottom.
why the fuck would you like 78mm wheels on there?! the board is to short for a downhill board, too high for a long distance deck, and 78mm is too large for free riding at lower speed
Speed wobbles is rider and trucks. And this board isn't made for going to fast. I would be scared to take it over 30 tops. You want more concave and a longer wheelbase for downhill
then treat your boards with a bit of respect. a deck like this most likely isn't for what you think. It's made to be a pool board or tech slider. It's just a bonus that it works for pretty much anything. Unless you're boardsliding down 20 stairs you're probably just not treating your boards properly. And most likely you shouldn't use this board anyway
Lmao so the story behind the name is that the owner of the company originally shot it down because he didn't want a sexual innuendo on a product line, but the employees started making decks with the name anyway. (Keep in mind most of them were in their late teens-mid twenties.) Long story short, it become such a big inside joke at Bustin that the owner eventually let it slide and gave it the OK.
Not a DH board. Of corse u can take any board u want as fast as u want, but for a good DH board that u can be completely confident riding go with a wheelbase around 28 inches or longer. But the more important thing for DH than the actual board itself is trucks. So if you put some RKP trucks on it and are confident in ur ability to have ur stance right then ud be fine up until about 30. Not saying its a good idea just that its possible. Then again it is possible with any deck. Get a real DH deck
LongboardVA Of course it can be the trucks too! Its a big difference to have 40 degree trucks made for downhill and 50 degree made for carving. You seems to think there is no difference in trucks. Even the pro skaters talk about having the right board or trucks on fast speed or you will have a problem no matter how good you are.
No, I understand the difference in trucks, I understand rake, degree, bushing durometer, all of it. But also consider that I used to downhill on 50 degree randalls.
