As someone who has doubts about hypnotists, I would like to see this specific gentleman try. How he describes hypnotism makes a lot more sense than what I’ve heard before.

Hypnosis is exactly how he explains it. Hypnotists are usually in two categories. Entertainment or service. Those in service have helped thousands with issues such as fear of public speaking, low back pain, headaches, smoking/drug addiction, particular phobias such as height,driving over bridges, animals. Those in entertainment use techniques to separate those willing to participate and those who are not. Skeptics are usually people who don’t understand what it is and how specific techniques are utilized.

Former hypnosis student here. Hypnosis is something you can easily learn and I know it is crazy but it works. Cool fact is that hypnosis can also be used as a tool to help you overcome and treat past traumas, and it is used by some psycologists

I've been hypnotized a few times in a therapy setting to bring back early memories and get to the root of a belief. One early memory I had was being in a dark room alone, feeling helpless and abandoned. Through hypnotherapy I was able to go back to this earliest memory and step outside my 6 month old self and understand that this was the lights being turned off at Thanksgiving to have a slideshow to show family photos (this was in the early 70's). As a kid growing up we had Thanksgiving at our house and at some point various family members showed slides that they brought, but I had never connected the dots. I was able to take this feeling of abandonment and realize that I was just in a crib next to everyone and turned the memory around to a happy one. In this regard it was much like that very last bit that the hypnotherapist did here, though much more specific and deeper. Just imagine Jaime working on why she wasn't feeling confident, going back to the root of where that started, coming up with a new belief out of that memory, and then implementing it. That's the real power of hypnotherapy in a therapeutic way.

Someone helped feed you your memories back and suggest them to you. It is an art but it is kind of a con :(. Hope it helped you though. Some relaxing is good for everyone.

I've seen a Hypnotist Live before. I also notice that some most people who are brought up on stage are usually dismissed because he could tell who he could hypnotise and who he couldn't. Something about Will or something like that. I know someone in the audience got hypnotised, I felt so bad for her because when she came out of it, she cried due to embarrasment.

in my experience, I’m similar to Jayse in that I “go in and out” because my brain fights everything it hears, but you do WANT to “stay under” just because it’s such a cool, novel experience to have your nervous system at complete rest-you feel a rare sense of safety, in a totally limbic sense, but you experience that feeling only as long as you’re able to comply with the authority figure who is speaking. I think it says something interesting about how we’re socially “wired”; we are, in fact, always negotiating how much independence/individuality to sacrifice in exchange for a sense of social safety

I'm like Jace. I've been trying to get hypnotized, literally since I was a child. Every year at the local fair, there was a hypnotist stage show. I tried at every performance. I bought their tapes. I've got a few of Zach's videos on a playlist. I can get really relaxed, but every time I hear a suggestion, I can't help but think, "well, that's ludicrous. Of course I can open my eyes". My conscious mind simply will not shut off. It's a shame because I do have quite vivid dreams and a naturally creative mind. I WANT to be hypnotized. It's just never happened for me.

As a skeptical person who’s been hypnotized in a safe environment, it is very real and doesn’t always affect everyone the same way. Even some suggestions can be stronger than others.. But it’s a weird feeling to only be semi conscious and aware of what’s happening.

I've seen stage hypnotists before, and they warned the audience not to take advantage of people in the audience who got hypnotized accidentally, even though only the people on stage should have. That help?
