For those interested in who I am you can find below a short presentation.
My name is Daniel, I am an electronic engineer who started from some time to work with wood. Wood was a passion of mine since my childhood when I grew with my uncle who was a woodworker.
When I was about 35 I bought a CNC machine and made several things with it.
Working with wood I needed some cutting tools so I had to buy hand planes and chisels. They needed to be sharpened so I have discovered whetstones and I have another passion now: sharpening. I like sharpening and I discover how relaxing is to sharpen a kitchen knife. I am not a specialist, I am a self though from what I read and from other people movies.
On my channel you can find movies with what I do in my workshop: sharpening, some woodworking, repairing things and whatever I have to do and I consider it might be interesting for you.
I am sure that you don’t like all my movies. There is no problem, it is normal. :) If you would like to tell me your opinions please be civilized. :) But I hope that you like them at list 99.99%. :)
Thank you for watching and as I already told you in the movie please support me with a like, comment, share, subscribe, etc. Any of them are important to me.

Hello. To be honest I don't remember. I think I ask the guy and he told me just to repair and resharpen. I have asked if he want me to thin it but if I remember right he told me not to do it.

Hi Daniel, thank you for all the reviews! For a couple of years I sharpen knives for a few chefs and friends. I've learned the skill from an older friend who have loads of years of experience. In the beginning I've bought the skerper basic set, 2 combination stones of 180 - 600 - 1000 - 3000 and the cleaning stone. Later I have bought an Arkansas 6000 stone as well. IMO the 600 and 1000 give lots of sediment, the 180 practically nothing and the 3000 a little. Long story, now a question, hehe. I would like to buy new stones, especially the 600 and 1000 need replacement. What would you recommend? Yes I can buy at any store but am gonna buy some things at Knives and Tools anyway so maybe in their whop? If you have a better idea, please share and I'll look into it. Thanks again

I like your vid. I have a question. Have you ever tried green brick of joy? I haven't, but I wonder whether the material used for Skerper pro 2000 is the same as the material for GBOJ.

@DanielWorkshop Год назад
Thank you for your feedback. Regarding the GBOJ I didn't test it but Naniwa is selling the same products with different names superstone, speciality stone and gouken kagayaki. 🙂 That is the reason for presuming that traditional 2000 is gboj. And of course, they look very similar.

interesting, if the 5000 is a super stone(and it is probably that) it make it a bargain, considering the 2cm thickness for the price of the 1cm naniwa super stone did you test the naniwa super stone 5000? the 2000 skreper look realy like the naniwa 2000 GBOJ i wanted to ask on many videos, but why you don't lapp the stones when they ares new. you know they can behave differently. that will give us a better review

Yes, I have tested it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cubPJBVdwwk.html The stones were bought second hand and they were lapped prior to be used. :)

@@DanielWorkshop oh yes thanks you, the super stone 5000 is a good polisher after naniwa pro 3000 or shapton pro 2000. i have them both and looking for a polishing stone do you know a polishing stone that don't feet like plastic or rubber? i like the feeling of fine grit chalky stones
@DanielWorkshop
@DanielWorkshop Год назад
Most of them have little feedback, like glass. King is a little different.

@@DanielWorkshop humm, i am wondering if it's a good idea to get a finer stone then the naniwa pro 3000. maibe i should get an other coarse or medium grit stone, i only have 3 each of them 🤣
@DanielWorkshop
@DanielWorkshop Год назад
For knives 3000 is fine enough.

Come on, you can't tell what company made these stones by the size of the cardboard boxes and font of the print on the sides. Bet both are used by various companies. It would be the same as me claiming you are German because of the German words printed on your baking sheet.

There is a saying: If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck. :) That being said I have formulated the opinion based on some other searches. Like Naniwa page for example. And the fact that I have tested other stones. But if you discover that they are made by some other manufacturer please tell me and I will correct it.

@@DanielWorkshop good point, I have to admit.

Hi, Daniel. Do you think starting at a 1000 grit will be okay for knives that are still relatively sharp and undamaged?
@DanielWorkshop
@DanielWorkshop Год назад
Hello. 1000 grit is my starting stone most of the times. Lower grit stones I use very rarely.
