I love you paintings! Such a beautiful sketchbook. I’m studying something completely different at uni and just started out with watercoloring in my freetime. I would definitely enjoy seeing your painting process, especially for the diary-like pages 😊

You know, I’d get one without a spiral bind. It comes undone a lot and makes it hard to paint on because the surface isn’t smooth :// let me know if you find one you like though :)) I need a new one

@@phyllisliao.artwork I have dozens of sketchbooks, and my personal favorite is the Ohuhu Mixed Media. I have one of the square ones. The paper has a nice tooth to it and it’s pretty thick. It holds watercolor and gouache quite well for my purposes, although I don’t use a ton of water so I’m not sure how well it would hold up to heavy water use. It has minimal buckling with moderate water use. Absolutely love it, even above Etchr and Strathmore, and it’s quite affordable for being so thicc!

@@phyllisliao.artwork do you suggest any brands of sketch/notebooks with reliable binding? Also a tip sometimes I’ll string yarn or some thin string through the spiral and tie it off to make sure all the pages stay put!!

@@phyllisliao.artwork nightmare! Did you know you can easily pull the spiral back to shape by weaving sewing thread through the two halves and pulling tight/knotting? But I’m also having trouble finding a robust sketchbook which won’t cramp my style. The quality of art supplies has gone way downhill in the last couple of years.

@@jojojo8835 I tried :(( I think the binding is literally bent (after taking it with me on travels haha) so it won’t loop back into the holes anymore :(
