Hampton's book was my introduction to art. After decades of having never really bothered with it, I decided to give it a go. Now I draw daily. That book's simplicity was what helped me establish some understanding of the fundamentals, everything else seemed a bit overwhelming.
Steven is a great guy. I love that he said he was pragmatic about art and didn't know if he had much of value to say, but then turned out to be one of the most informed guests on the podcast so far in terms of finding meaning under the different rubrics of art history.
Only 25-30 collectors can afford to buy a painting for 5-50k? Based on what? Tens of thousands of people spend that much on art. Check out any live auction online if you need proof.
Kristian, you should interview Frank Turek on free will. I think complexity leads to a designer always, and we as humans beings are a complex being with our multi cellular levels and systems where we live as complex so I think it’s safe to say that God is the cause
yo Kristian, I recently got into your pod after listening to alot of draftsman eps and wow it has given me alot of meaning so I appreciate you making them. I'm half way through them all haha
I'ts been 10 years since I took his class on Figure Drawing at CGMA online lessons. I'm glad to see he still around! This conversation was really cool. Tks!
You remind me of myself, Kristian. I don't think California is a good place for your soul and mind, friend. Pick up some weights, join a brotherhood, focus your mind on a goal and embrace the way it sucks. I feel you need more masculine energy in your life, all this nihilism is not good for you.
This is fantastic!! These are the things I think about everyday but hear no one else talk about. I'm only half way through but ready to listen to it all over again. It is feeding my soul and I really really appreciate you out in a van, traveling and making this content. Please keep it up!
