How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a RU-vid channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin.
Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like.
These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.

With all that rust it could have been used at a fertilizer plant for loading the mixer!

The rust can be from salt,fertilizer or some other corrosive material. And which case if any of it gets in the electronics your machine can go bezerks. I recommend a Kubota.

When I worked with Roeder Bros for buying a 7616 tractor, they were easy and good to work with... during and even well after the sale. Even for being 600 miles away from where I live, I would buy another machine from them! Good luck on your shopping adventures! Maybe keep an eye on a front end loader tractor... skidsteer or not, you'll have to try to knock down the price or throw in some parts and such.
@Lordwilliams1990
@Lordwilliams1990 5 лет назад
JCB skidsteers are very good machines, my uncle runs a road repair company and runs two of them. Jcb parts can be pricey on par with john deere but are very reliable, jcb's have been around for a long time and with that you get experience.

On used machines if used in construction anything over 2500 hrs is worn out. Tip the cab up and look for leaks and make sure the ac works especially bobcat. Ran T770 that all kinds of problems started at 2500 hours. Nice machine to run but didnt do much more than a T300. If there is anyway to swing it you would absolutely love tracks in the feedlot. Have great fun shopping.

It either was used at a fertilizer plant or at at road salt depot. I worked at a fertilizer mixing plant and our skid loader was five years old and it barely had more rust than that one has. They must not have washed it much.

JCB is noticeably easier to be in getting in and out multiple times a day and has a really spacious cab, once you run one for a while the visibility is noticeably better. The one I used to run has 8000 hours and counting and it was on a paving crew.

@steveholton4130

As casual observer, I would be concerned about weight balance - Worried about side roll-over. Are they counter-weighted on the non-arm side? If so, then they seem pretty cool!
@AndrooH
@AndrooH 5 лет назад
@@steveholton4130 That was my concern, but the weight still sits middle-centre with a properly loaded bucket or forks, same as it does for a two-arm machine. Load one side of bucket and the machine leans to that side, same as any bobcat. So no counter-weight needed, just great design keeps it steady and stable. I just wish I could afford one for myself! :)

I've worked on a few different kinds of skids loaders and I'd say Gehl is probably the best I've been around. Easier to work on most of there models but certain ones have there flaws too. I'm not a huge fan of the Deere's and Bobcats but a lot of people like to run Bobcat. Whatever has the best parts availability and places to work on them is a good way to go.

JCB are good machines not sure about their skid steers haven't seen many of them but their shovels, teleporters and diggers good machines. In Ireland and the UK 80 percent of the silage videos you'll see will have a JCB on the silage clamp pushing grass and they get a lot of hard work. To be fair they are starting to loose ground to Volvo on the clamp in recent years.

JCBs are for when you win the lottery..! And if you'd won the lottery you probably wouldn't be farming! And that included 0% for 4 years which fit me nicely. Yes smaller cab than bobcat and john deere and no radio but it works good on our farm as we arent in it for more than an hour a day. We use it to compost pigs which is pretty acidic and its holding up well. No problems on machine except flat tires
