I have a 2000 Skidoo Tundra 300R that was having intermittent Headlight issues. The lights would work off and on, which made going on any night time rides a bit tricky. In this video I show you how I diagnosed the problem and fixed it for cheap.

I had frayed wires under the air box and under seat that messed with my voltage regulator. Popped the regulator 2 times before discovering the wires. Popped bulbs every once and awhile before it would kill the voltage regulator

Seems more likely it was loose wiring than the voltage regulator. If you own an old sled, a wiring diagram and multimeter are your best friend. Theres a lot of vibration under there. Solder connections instead of twisting them together. Hope you get it all worked out its a nice sled.

I use self soldering connections wherever possible. They’re as permanent as it gets, weather proof and 11 bucks for a ton of them on Amazon. They’re helpful tapping with 2 very different gauges of wire as well. I had to tap into the headlight wire for a heated shield recently. A regular wire tap wouldn’t have worked as the headlight was 14ish gauge and the heated sheild was like 28ish. Anyway get some self soldering connectors.

The plug being loose was the issue him wiring up a led light bar screwed everything up hope your stator is fine thats to much of a load for that little charge system

The last trip out to the cabin I disconnected the light bar, and replaced the voltage regulator and put a new bulb in the headlight and its been working fine since. I prefer the high and low beam compared to the light bar. Hopefully the stator is ok, I put 50km on the new voltage regulator and headlight bulb and so far so good.
