It's so hard being an anime only fan and when talks about skipped content because that just goes over my head. I'm just enjoying this series as a new fan
i started reading novel after, s2 first cour enden. And man reading something that i love su much with more context and lore it's a great experience almost like rewatching the series again
The manga also skips some stuff too, which I absolutely hate, I really hate stories based on novels, because I only read manga and I absolutely despise missing out on stuff because they won’t bloody adapt it properly.
@@InfamyOrDeath-__- read the light novels. I bought them on Amazon and have not regretted it. So much more context for certain things. The only anime adaptation that made me want to buy and read whole books
Despite the skipped content throughout the seasons, I really enjoy both how the slice of life and action is animated from the LN. I would even say I enjoy the slice of life being animated even more. It was still a touching reunion between grandmother and grand daughter seeing it animated. Julie stole the show for me in this episode especially when she was drinking....again.
Imagine if an archeologist were to discover Rudy's shrine far in the future and thinks they discovered some long forgotten religion, but it's just Rudy's one man cult 😂
Elinalise being related to Sylphie totally went over my head, for sole reason I thought Sylphie wanted some lewd advice from herb😂 As for Ariel, I actually felt like she was manipulating Rudeus into going along with Sylphie once Ariel head back to Asura, but I guess it's because I really hadn't empathise with her, for me she's still a princess playing the Game Of Thrones.
they had basically identical pendants that was pretty big giveaway for me at least. Good thing Rudy's son was in slumber when they met. Who knows what might have happened otherwise :D
Tbh I don't even remember Ariel's wedding gift, the thing I noticed is that they did not mentioned that Rudy was ok with Nanahoshi spoiling beans but left it for her to decide.
Luke is actually one of the best intel gatherer for Ariels group. He flirts with women to get information from them. From daughters of nobles to average students.
16:38 I feel like there could be some hidden meaning to her reply. She 'misunderstood' because she thought she'd met a comrade who understood her actions and desires, but in reality Rudeus isn't really 'from' that world anymore because he has embraced this new world.
The manga does an excellent job on that Elinalise scene, I really loved that scene when reading it, I think you would have liked it in the manga, it shows her grabbing at him like you wanted and the great emotion on Elinalise.
17:16 Doing research together in a room, exploring something magical. Rudy provides Nanahoshi the "mana" she needs, to summon a person into this world 😏 I remember Zenith summoned Rudeus into this world as well
I think any of us that have read the novel or at least I've gotten to that part either by listening to it or reading it wish that they had included that I mean it's so appropriate.
It's kind of sad how much content gets skipped to make sure they can cover the specific amount of content they want in the story timeline, but videos like these are pretty nice since they fill in the blanks.
The light novel always seems to show a better desperation of the characters. There is more emotion in the novel. Ugly crying is what i call it. Because whenever someone ugly cries it is actually so much more impactful in the novel. And there is so much more meaning behind it. There are so many layers that the anime just skips.
No because she doesn't have funds coming in and actually has no political power besides having the heart of the people. Which is why she was a threat to the throne. She spent most of her live leisurely. And never tried to get more people around her. She just knew how to trick people into liking her.
@KamiSamaisPissed that's not how kingdoms work. There are multiple children in line for the throne. The king will only support his next in line and maybe give an allowance to the others. It is up to the others to see what they do with their money. If they spend it all on guard that have no loyalty to her it is a waste of money because they will just leave once the checks stop coming in. And if you have to see it from the guards point of view as well. Why should you guard someone that is not next in line to the the throne. That is like saying you support them and it risks your family being a target.
I am happy about the 2nd cour has started but I hate that they cut scenes or change some wordings. There is some hope when the next season with Eris and her time at the sword King dojo then the reunion with some tension.
my head is spinning from reading and listening to the light novels over the variations on translations even across the anime seasons. i.e. is the term beastkin, beast race, beast folk, or was there single term?
27:01 I actually took that scene completely differently, I took it to mean that because Rudy has been training with Eris, Ghislaine, Ruijerd, and fighting extremely difficult people like Orsted, all of which are the best in the world, that he doesn’t realise just how good he is, and overestimates other people. Luke is probably still above average for someone his age. And Laplace didn’t have battle aura, so extremely powerful people don’t all have it. I just think Rudy underestimates himself haha.
Vol. 8 supports this I believe as when he goes into his duel with Linia and Pursena he expects them to be really strong, like more so than Eris and such. Until he came to the conclusion that maybe, Eris is actually strong? He hadn’t thought about it too much before and likes to be cautious it would seem. But you can probably take it either way.
@@bravosix2960 Yea that’s how I took the scene, he’s never been fighting in schools or had formal training like other people, he only can judge himself next to Eris, Ruijerd & Ghislaine, so he underestimates himself. You even seen that when he was in the fight with Badigadi, where he hit him so hard that he send him flying, he assumed that was the level of attack that he needed.
@@InfamyOrDeath-__- He's had formal training, just not in a school setting. He basically learned magic from a King Class Water Mage, was trained in sword by Paul, and then Ghislaine. He sparred with Eris and Rujierd, although it wasn't formal training like with the previous two. It's just that Rudy's spent so much of his life around super strong people that he takes it as the norm. To him, Eris or Paul are the average sword users, and even in his duel with Sylphie when he first made it was concerned he might lose not realizing how much stronger he was. Plus I think Rudeus works hard to keep his ego in check since he could run into Orsted or another equivalent at any time, so best to not underestimate his opponents. Luke really isn't weak, I think it's just that for the most part bodyguard work doesn't require going beyond Intermediate. Certainly getting to advanced helps, but the day to day threats are not going to be a match for him, especially with his magic equipment boosts. Even if he was Advanced though Rudy has shown he can best Eris who was Advanced using his demon eye.
Was it ever explained where Elinalise got her curse from? Also I heard or read many months ago that a product of Elinalise's sexual encounters was the creation of Mana stones or something similar that she sells. Can someone confirm this.
Julie eating potato chips with Nanahoshi, Linia & Purse a arriving 1st with their gift, the slowness of Luke during the mock duel.. I have a feeling this 2nd part to S2 is just rushing to reach volume 12's end. Sorry, anime only fans of the show, but, you're gonna miss out on Hella story, plot, character development and probably the awesome world building that Rifujin put in to this series. I'm surprised we haven't even gotten a side episode detailing Eris and what she's up to.
@immortalzodd7474 I was talking about season 2 this current season. I'm guessing the end of volume 12. Which does technically allow for them to not do a third season if they really want to sorry for the spoiler if you haven't read the light novel
@@mageius Read the whole thing (LN) at this point so no worries. And I agree, it is most likely going to end in Vol 12 and if there is no S3, that may explain why there has been no follow up for Eris =S
@immortalzodd7474 If there is a season 3, I'm guessing they'll do an episode 0 covering Eris. Although I wish the audiobook versions would come out faster even though you don't get the art from the LN it's still been a good way to get through the story.
Sylphie is very smart. And in any world people tend to only think of themselves and not notice others. She picked up on Nanohoshi because Sylphie felt threatened that Nanohoshi may steal Rudy away from her. So she paid extra care to her movements. Especially when Sylphie helped Nanohoshi with her work.
When I heard "Wedding Reception" as the title, I was thinking the reception that precedes the ceremony, as in same day. I hope they'll rescue Zenith (his mom) before the ceremony so his full family can attend the momentous day. Can't remember if Syphie's folks are still around after the great mana disaster, so.... IF they can be there too. And I love love LOVE the new intro. Stunning visuals and a really attention grabbing composition. Though at the same time.... I kinda miss the format in the first season, the credits playing over montage scenes of the episode, part of a **seamless** storytelling style. Love the new intro while at the same time I wish they returned to the live dynamic opening credits approach from before. Anybody else feel the same? It even occurred to me, that opening intro could be the outro instead to go with the end credits. And yeah, ever since that episode when Nanahoshi is revealed to be from Rudeus's old world (our world), if his true origins might be discovered by EVERYBODY else; Sylphie, his family, the other students, Roxy, Eris, etc... My imagination raced with possibilities, like maybe some elder scholars or sages in the school faculty with heightened magical insight could sense something about Rudeus, Maybe the Demon Queen with her special sight could learn this about him, or maybe even Ruijerd's Third Eye (his gem) could have sensed something different about Rudeus's aura he just couldn't explain at the time, but later information it all falls into place for him. Yeah, I'm really speculating wildly here... I'd love to see if anything more develops on this and especially how it would affect all his relationships.
i don't think that is a very realistic scenario it takes like half a year to travel from the central continent to Begarit. And even then he would have to travel across a vast desert. Thats gonna take at least a year or year and a half.
Sylphie's folks: They have been confirmed dead at this point. Even Ariel after the duel with Luke mentions that Sylphie is still at her side, despite finding out they had passed. Sort of poetic to mention in the wake of Sylphie gaining a grandmother! But I'm with you, I miss the establishment shots of the old OPs!
He always had shame of it. And he has mentioned multiple times that if he did he may be hated for it. He just doesn't want to be hated. It is why he got into a fight with Paul in the Millies. Him knowing he can do more but chooses to enjoy life. It hurts him for people to hate him. He feels at any moment he will become that person again. Not leaving his room and pushing his love ones away.
Mushoku Tensei must really be the second best isekai (the first is Juuni Kokuki). A female character that "develops" growing her hair instead of shortening it? Unexpected.
Do you know all the haters that constantly call Rudy a Pea-doh, do they ever call Elinalise that? Because she’s far far older than Rudy, and what age is Cliff, 15? It’s funny that I’ve never seen them talk about her. I don’t have a problem with her, I’m just saying you’d think these people would also have an issue with her if their beliefs were consistent.
It is said that Sylphie is the child of a half elf and a quarter beastman. So Sylphie is an half elf half human but with some beastman in there like her mother? Just going off of my vol. 1 novel rn Quarter beastman adds a small difference into the mix so you don’t get your half elf’s confused lol idek what I am saying.
The character I hate most in Mushoku Tensei is Immortal Demon King Badi Gadi SPOILERS HE IS THE DING DANG REASON THAT DEMON-DRAGON KING LAPLACE WAS SPLIT INTO DEMON GOD LAPLACE AND TECHUNIQUIE GOD LAPLACE LAPLACE IS THE GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAT
I really hope the staff and the animation director whoever it is take their time to when in season 3. so much payoff action and world building happens in those volumes
It seems odd that Elinalise's children wouldn't be so numerous that they would form their own power base in this world, making ostracism a bit dangerous for people.
Elves in general seem to have trouble getting pregnant in the first place so the amount of her children is probably a lot lower than what you're thinking of
I think they really missed a significant part by not adding Ariels gifts. Considering how valuable it is, and how big of an impact it was for rudeus for soo long.
Even with skipped content, it's still a decent adaption. There are definitely some things I wish they left in, like some of the extra stories at the end of the novels. I'm guessing we'll get another Zero Episode or OVA for the next season. I just hope they don't make Roxy as emo as she is in the LN. Sylphie will always be best girl IMO.
The shot was with Sylphy's parents, it shows that Sylphy's father is blond in episode 3 of season 1, it was said that he is a half-elf. Sylphy brought Lilia's amulet as a gift to Rudeus for his 10th birthday, she said that she made the amulet like her father's in episode 8 of season 1. When Elinalise saw Rudes's amulet, she took out hers and it was clear that they were similar in episode 4 of season 2
I kind of wonder how Ariel ends up becoming the queen in any way. Does she end up killing all of her brothers and sisters to become Queen or how does that happen cuz I seriously doubt even if she just killed the brother who was trying to kill her that the rest of her siblings would submit to her since they hated her just as much
i've recently started reading the light novel, they made Ariel and Luke kinda worst than the anime. Kinda amazed how much they like talking about sex. Now whenever i see her and Luke, i just make a them with a "eww" look
@@InfamyOrDeath-__- No no there's nothing wrong!! It's just as a thing to see higher status peoples to be different than this. It's just that i somewhat cringe and laugh when they talk about it. I didn't mean it in a bad way, I'm really sorry
@@assh9333Puts into context all yapping in chat when Orsted x Ariel scenes come up. 😂 Join Mushoku Mondays with us if you haven't yet! It's a good way to "read" or relive the LNs or just have fun watching Andrew's conspiracies run amok! 😂😂
He just said it was expensive and you could "buy a house on the demon continent with that much". With how dirt cheap things are on the demon continent, I'd assume it would be like buying a cheap car.
@@otakuspirit ah I see. I have to say I've absolutely loved your mushoku Monday series and have watched every episode of it. Eagerly anticipating tomorrows episode. The Voice you went with Orsted gets 10/10 from me 😄
@@otakuspiritThe fact that they didn't show how Ariel actually attacked Sylphie when they first met. You should have realized that was coming. They really made her look like the perfect princess early on. They probably won't be changing that anytime soon.
@@otakuspirit ya it was more emotional in the LN and rudy making her laugh was far more cathartic. in the anime she just kinda went oh ya. in the ln she went from crying to laughing at the thought that she ended up related to paul anyways.
I get Elise doesn't want to be Paul's daughter in law but somewhere along the way I think she misunderstood that sleeping with Paul's kid doesn't equal marriage. Unless it's an elf I missed
She just hates Paul so much that any kind of connection would make her feel sick. The stuff Paul has done has cause that kind of level of hate amongst people. People really hate Paul. Hate is actually a strong word. It is used so off handed nowadays but disliking something and hating something are two really different things far apart from each other. So them looking for Rudy and his family was a really big deal to everyone that dropped everything to go on that quest.
@@bravosix2960 it's only a theory. Yes he has done shit that he should have been arrested for but him getting a wife mostly kept him in check. So I will not go off fanon just because it makes since I want the proof straight from the author and as it's known we don't know what Paul did to her
@Animewatcher352 what is there to understand. In that world being in a team means everything because everyday is a struggle to survive. Look at Ghislaine, she had to eat corn from dong because she couldn't do math and was scammed of her money. It was Rudy that helped her with that. That kind of stuff happening would cause many people to find someone to blame and why not put the blame on the one that disbanded the party for his own happiness.
This episode has me so SO worried for the rest of the season, there was SO many shots of their faces Looking goofy as hell, really hope they are saving the budget for rest of the season.
It is kind of criminal how much content they have been cutting but, as you said, after S2 P1 it is kind of expected at this point. I'm watching the episodes as a fan of the series and to support the project, but it has been soul-crushing witnessing the adaptation going down like this. *POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD BUT NOT REALLY* I can safely say you are better of just reading the novels (hell even the manga skips less), as they are skipping a lot of build up and just adapting critical scenes (as the Doll and the Elinalise ones) and it just doesn't hit at all. As a rule of thumb for many years now I have been avoiding watching the openings and endings of all adaptations coming from well established franchises as they tend to spoil things. This is very true for this S2 P2 of Mushoku Tensei, if you haven't paid any attention or have been skipping them... and want to be surprised as an anime-only fan, continue doing so as they spoil the hell out of the season. Reading the novels, it was really a surprise to see Rudy's sisters arrive to live with him. For example, if the way I got that plot point was because of the stupid opening I would have felt beyond robed (and that is just one of many things the damn opening spoils). If you are sullied, it is what it is... I went in to read the novels because I was spoiled of the last turning point so I can feel your pain. Based on what I see in the opening, they are going to *CUT A LOT* of content as they are clearly aiming to end at a pretty specific moment (which is a pretty nasty cliffhanger which most likely will break the patience of many... or worse rush things even more). Your boy Rudy is going to cross a desert and a couple cities in like 1 or 2 background scenes... I'm calling it right now =S
