It’s a shame if VW exits India, I can’t really think of any other brand that gives such great overall products at these price points. Having said that they need to consistently up their game here in India introduce a sub 4 meter suv at the earliest and on the same platform built the polo to get the numbers which are mostly concentrated in sub 10 lakh bracket
@@needimanh well said. It seems you have deep knowledge. The older platform was best. The new platform is a joke. These people are thinking still vw makes quality cara as the past
If a car manufacturer can't touch the pulse of a market in even two decades sorry to say they just do not want to change. Their certain highheadedness and rigid attitude toward change leave them in cold water today. Hyundai also had disasters with Sonata, Getz and Santa Fe, but they were quick to realise and catch the pulse of the Indian market. Unfortunately, none of the European or American manufacturers managed to do
If Hyundai manage to shorten i20 n line and launch it in india why can't vw do it? More so when there new gen cara are absed on a modular platform that can be extended or shorten as per requirement. Unless these manufacturer won't stop treating the Asian market as dump yard for their old gen cars we will see the same story being repeated over and over again
People just don’t understand how much companies cut corners to cater to the Indian market. Name one car company which does not have one or the other major issue under 20L. Some have features but compromised safety. Some have service and engine issues. Some are not stable at high speeds. Sometimes i think indians deserve indian cars that drive like a tractor
Our ppl dont need safety, they just need aa car like neighbours thats it. Just for 12.5lks we can purchase kushaq, where as Tin can brezza, fronx, baleno(zero rated) costing the same price. Coming to milage also scoda gives good milage about 21 if driver drives in proper manner. Because of this mentality Ford left india, what aa build quality Ford has with super milages about 22 kmpl, i have a ford ecosport which give good milage and road presence. Suggestion for our brothers is that Plz go for good rated cars with low budget like scoda, tata, vw rather than MG, Kia, toyota,Maruti suzuki. Life will not come again, go with safety cars ❤️.
Who said they are leaving India? They said their cars are over engineered. Inspite of investing $2 billion they could not make numbers and looking towards partnering. The VW group plans to introduce new models and expand it's sales network. They are aiming 4% market share and 5% in long term. This is misrepresentation.
Skoda India sales has dropped by 36% in Q1 2024 (compared to Q1 2023). They are looking to partner because they haven't been able to crack the market & they are unable to self sustain. They do have plans laid out but there's no denying the fact whenever any company has partnered with Mahindra it hasn't done any good to it be it SsangYong or Ford.
Vw has everything German performance, best stability, handling, best looks I don't know why people are moving towards coward Korean companies hyundai and kia 😮💨
Service network, no sensor issues, reliable silent engines and gimmicky features are the reasons why Koreans are selling more than Volkswagen and Skoda in India.
@@kritik8845 See vw has performance, Handling etc as I mentioned people only needs features more then this and if we see about service then it needs time to time service if not then car will start killing u
Too much electronics, and only turbo petrol engines, and hence less reliable. Service is also quite expensive, especially the labor costs are too much even for removing and assembling a single screw inside the steering wheel they charge thousands. Yes, they drive better but are expensive to maintain...
@@DevangBilolikar DEADLY CHEAPER NEAR TO DEATH THATS Y THEY R GIVEN VALUE FOR MONEY BUT NOT LIFE .SHORTLY THEY REALISE VALUE OF LIFE INCE UPON A DAY WE HAVE TO WAIT NO MORE
No one can match the VW driving dynamics....its just too good. I had Ameo 1.5 TDI DSG Hyline, it was just a gem of a car. I can guarantee that no other car in that segment or 2 step above segment can match its performance and high speed stability. The car did everything and also provided great safety. It'll be sad to see them go. I wish they bring back the VW Polo with 1.2 Turbo charged engine with TC gear box, trust me it will become a sensation.
I too have Ameo 2017 model.. I drive on highways mostly and it's a pleasure driving a VW. I waited for all these years expecting either VW or Skoda would come out with Sub 4. I will go for this. For me safety and driving dynamics are the only criteria.
Indian customers only look for features these days at low prices and also how big their car looks. They are least bothered about build quality, engine performance and safety. Little do they know that actual cost in a vehicle goes into it's r&d on engine and build material. Features are all about software. The sensors used for these features are very cheap. Skoda's maintenance is also not that high. Kia and hyundai asks for service at every 10k while skoda and vw have 15k mark for their service. So the service cost comes to be almost similar. And not to talk about customer service. Skoda and vw are way ahead in that aspect as well.
Chhapri logo Ko chhapri gaadi hi pasand ayegi , bas ye andaza nahi tha ki India mai chhapriyo ki abadi itni badh gayi hai ki - ford , chevvy aur ab skoda VW ki ye halat ho gayi. Gaadi ki aur uske piche ki engineering ki koi kadar nahi in chhapriyo ko , in ko bas firta hua bandh dibba chahiye aur dibbe mai romanchak saman chahiye , jisko kuch saal use karke phenk de aur fir naya dibba kharide.
indians dont know about cars, even they dont realise that kia was fooling their own customers😂 now kia's seltos is falling in sales, and creta has issues too😂
Atharv, Skoda CEO never said they are leaving India. They said their cars are over-engineered for the Indian market. I respect your content but please don't spread false news. PS: VW/Skoda group wouldn't be testing mules of Skoda sub 4m SUV if they wanted to leave. And also, their sales have stabilised now. They just need more sales to sustain business model. Hence, they are looking for a strategic partner for a possible joint venture in India. They are not leaving India that easily. They can't abandon a billion dollar investment that they made 2-3 years ago under 2.0 strategy.
Skoda India sales has dropped by 36% in Q1 2024 (compared to Q1 2023). Looking for a partner does mean they aren't able to self sustain & break even the investment. Being in talks with Mahindra has been a disaster for every brand Mahindra has collaborated with be it SsangYong or Ford. I have 4 VW group cars at my place and & would never want them to leave. We all should vouch on the sub 4m product and hope for the best !
@@torqued6000 There's always a risk, yes. I got 2 VW's with me too. And definitely VW group (skoda too) did make few blunders in 1.0 strategy and in 2.0 strategy too. Few of which are, 1) Not making taigun's skin big enough to match the size of creta or other rivals making it look small, which an average uncle in Indian market look for. 2) Poor pre-launch testing of the products, poor interior quality (cost-cutting) and EPC error issues, 3) Not giving some additional features to match the feature list of the rivals (which again, an avg uncle in Indian market prefers), 4) Not having strict moderation & SOPs for ASCs to ensure quality experience at Service centers. 5) Wrong communication in their marketing strategy. Mahindra, I feel is like a part of the desi cartel who wants international brands who have little know how of Indian market to leave so that they have some duopoly here with Tata and eat up the Indian market. It's scary too but I hope VW management is cautious enough to know they have already pushed away other brands away under false pretence of partnership and backing out at the last moment like they did with Ford and Ssanyong. Biggest mistake of Ford was they completely were relying on Mahindra's partnership. I hope VW group has a backup strategy too, if that doesn't go through. I think sales fluctuation keeps on happening and also there is a slowdown of sales lately on the average for most brands but still compared to 1.0 times, the average sales have been better for VW group in India (considering the limited outlets across India as compared to Korean rivals). Also, every product goes through a life cycle in a market. The peak was last year. Now it's time for a refresh and facelifts. Giving discounts and cosmetic changes won't contribute to sales. Again, VW management in my opinion needs to take care of the following to ensure better market perception and sales: 1) Interior perceived quality. 1.0 cars had that solid interior quality. They should bring back that. Choose the right local vendors. 2) Make their after sales service experience even better and have control and strict SOPs for independent dealers and ASCs who are the main reason for tarnishing the brand's image. 3) Bring facelifts of Taigun and Virtus (as Ashish Gupta of VW spoke in an interview last month), and fix the shortcomings by giving additional features which are most sought for by Indian families and uncles. 4) Work on the size of the skin of Taigun and make it more butch and aggressive. They can even bring Tharu launched in Chinese market which is slightly bigger and better. They already have a car. They don't even need to re-engineer. 5. Focus on right communication through marketing channels. Work on removing this perception of the avg. Indian that VW's are too costly to maintain and they are unreliable af. 6. In the quest of achieving Sales targets, don't compromise on the German solid feel and mechanical parts for cost cutting purposes. VW's are known for driving pleasure, solid built, it's the brand's USP, I hope they don't compromise on it. Otherwise they will lose the only USP they have at the moment. Being a VW owner of a TSI and TDI too, I too want them to make smarter choices and beware of these Indian cartels to try to push them away. But I believe they aren't here to leave that easily. Management is restless and anxious making such statements but that's a good sign that they are concerned and taking actions rather than being complacent about it. :)
I am regularly following the old car market posts in RU-vid where the youtubers say : Is gadi me bhar bhar ke features hai like sunroof, alloy wheels, infotainment system, achchhe seatcovers, projector headlamps, two airbags. No mention of engine performance or build quality.
I’m planning of a second hand Kodiaq in Pune. As an upgrade is expected in Sept 2024, will it be good to wait until its launch? (as second hand will get cheaper).
Totally VW and Skoda’s fault. They lunched their vehicle so late with same old tech. If they launched a hybrid kushaq or taigun, would’ve been cracked it
Indian market people will only go towards maruti and Hyundai and Kia because people like shit what's the use of a hybrid what was the count of Camry hybrid in India see the new hybrid by maruti sells like hot cakes because of cost factor but built quality is garbage
People then :- It’s too expensive to maintain and not reliable enough People now :- They’ve started cost cutting and it’s not german level anymore 🤡 Bhai mere ghar bhi Maintenance cost ki wajah se nahi liya aur parts availability
Its the Skoda misunderstood indian mind set ip . Sub 4 metre suv is missing in both wv skoda hatchback too, polo design is too old. Price and maintenance is higher than hyundai and Maruti. The result is clear in indian market
Highlighting some major issues for their failure and what should help them. 1. We are still in the 2nd year since they hsve announced service packages but what happens post that nobody knows, will the parts and service cost empty our wallets? 2. They say its over engineered for India, really? - AC cooling doesnt work - Squeaking sounds from the breaks and the interiors - Unreliable gearbox and turbo engines which heats up in hot climates - Engine light comming on - Expensive engine oil top up after every 3000 kms After paying all that premium for a over engineered car? lol 3. No road side mechanics are experienced enough to carry out tasks on such a well engineered car if someone chooses to repair it outside the SVC 4. All the of the above results in poor or no resale value when you want to eventually sell it. A smart tieup should help them solve all these worries. For example: Its really great to see brands like Triumph tying up with Bajaj, look at their Triumph street 400, it just oozes TRIUMPH with top notch quality and no mention of bajaj on the bike.. Its selling like hot cakes with that competitive pricing.
@@jarvisnick3438 Go with Honda if really need a sedan, it's reliable, fun to drive and gives you that peace of mind. If you want more power and fancy features then Verna but again you need to vary of the turbo engine, recently hearing of overheating issues.
Well explained .... Good analysis ... But Skoda quality is too good ... We Indians choose quantity over quality ... That's the reason of Skoda VW sales decreasing... Waiting for Skoda sub4m SUV...Definitely it will be good.
If we do proper service that VW, Skoda, Fiat are wonderful cars and once we used to it difficult to chsnge the car. Driving experience is wonderful and doesn't feel any tired after 11 hrs drive in same day. I have Taigun 1.5L GT, very much satisfied. Only city mileage is less around 8 to 12. Highways above 16.
Real reason is car industry trying to follow electrical bulb industry. Less life more sales. That is the reason every brand stop producing their most successful models. The second serious reason is pathetic service, service centers cheat you and loot like anything.
Our ppl dont need safety, they just need aa car like neighbours thats it. Just for 12.5lks we can purchase kushaq, where as Tin can brezza, fronx, baleno(zero rated) costing the same price. Thank you 🙏🏻 But I own a Skoda Laura, it's very expensive to maintain the least. I got my spark plugs & coil packs replaced by skoda & it costed me a whopping 60k. I absolutely love how the car drives and behaves but let's be fair ,the gen 2 EA888 comes with its share of issues.
Sad reality 🥲 once a wise men said "One of the penalties of refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors" and its not about politics 😔😔
Scoda jaisi company ka India se jana hi acha hai inki car leke customer ke sath monopoly system karte hai after market spare parts ninmilte hai Maruti Hyundai Tata sabhi parts deti hai market ne
As per my analysis, Škoda has exponentially increased their vehicle prices as a part of their project 2.0 , for example, old Rapid vehicle came around 10 lakh for petrol automatic mid-variant in 2021, now if we see the base variant of slavia it self is costing around 14 lakhs on road and the top variant is around 21 lakhs which is sky high compared to previous version prices. We had got a diesel engine high end Rapid car for 15 lakh in 2020, even the build quality of those cars at that time was way too high when compared to present Kushaq & Slavia. People are not sheeps to follow these corporate companies strategies blindly and buy those cars, we’re getting much better cars in even very low prices when compared to these Škoda cars and even we’re getting 7 seaters at the price of these cars. I’m pretty sure that ŠKoda & VW would be exiting INDIA if they won’t decrease their prices up to their previous version vehicles.
Everyone on the internet praises Skoda, VW, Honda and Ford. But when it comes to spending their own money, people will buy Suzuki/Hyundai/Tata/Mahindra.
Very little basic region behind it is most of the customer have connectivity with villages and service and parts issue always a concern for such people like me, also defence person has to serve in remote and rural areas where service and parts are not available at all
Why does Skoda and VW act separate ? They belong to the same mother company and have same vehicles with mostly difference only in their looks. Doing this is costly right from manufacturing, branding and marketing. Instead cant they focus on one brand and sell more ??
Bhai 2001 mein Middle class segment was very small in India We all have grown in past 10-15 years only. General Public did not have anyone to tell about Cars on Public Platform due to lack of Internet or RU-vid
Driving Kushaq since 3 years and I can say one thing the things said about Skoda are just assumptions. This is much better than Kia the build quality itself says it all
Skoda needs to crispy define their variants. How can you keep 999cc and 1500cc as two variants in petrol like slavia, virtus.Indians recall using 999cc engines in lowest level hatchbacks like maruti alto.Atop you are keeping 999cc at 11 lakh ?.Sounds crazy. Then what about 1500cc cars ??.Do you know what is 17 lakh INR could mean to an Indian.See cost of ciaz,Verna or city and they are not above 12 lakh in base model.Clearly anybody can say 999cc models, high cost of 1499cc stands as root cause of Skoda failure.
VW Group is finding a hard time to thrive in India. They might exit India slowly with the discontinuation of Volkswagen initially, followed by Škoda, and Audi _(because of VW Group's EVs that are flopped, although Audi is bettering in its e-Tron EVs than any German EVs, but EV infrastructure in India isn't well established and Audi promises to be EV company by 2030)._ VW Group made its debut with Škoda as the brand in 2001, followed by Audi in 2007, and VW in 2010 _(although it started in 2007 only with certain vehicles namely VW Passat, VW Phaeton, and VW Touareg imported as either CBU or CKD)._ Škoda is a Slavic brand from Czechia _(formerly Czech Republic)_ and it's called "German" because of it's association with VW Group in terms of its engineering, performance, design, comfort, safety, maintenances, and service -- this applies to other VW Group brands namely Porsche and Audi from Germany, SEAT from Spain, Bentley from UK, Lamborghini from Italy, and Bentley from France. Škoda is associated with premium car segments, and VW is associated with "economy" car segments, and VW is known for "People's car." However, VW is overthrown by People's car makers of India namely Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Mahindra, and that by Korean brand namely Hyundai. It's true and appreciable about VW, Skoda, and Audi as they are known for their overengineered vehicles which makes them very tough when it comes to accidental crashes, collision resistance, and better drive longevity, yet they will cease to exist in India because it comes with a huge cost to maintain such cars and get them repaired, and bring back to its original state, keeping each and every minute details in mind. I'm not bringing GM, Jeep, Peugeot, and Fiat into the picture because their cars have always been super unreliable and not long lasting than many car makers -- Opel vehicles made globally as of early 2000s are reliable and overengineered like VW, Audi, and Porsche and Opel is a German brand despite being under GM till 2017, under Groupé PSA in 2017 - 2021, and Stellantis since 2021. Opel exited India because of two reasons -- GM, and their nature of being Overengineered like VW Group.
Dear VW, 6 months ago I was looking for a decent performing automatic car in 13-14 lac range and you were absent there while all other mass market brands had something for me. Not sure how hard can it be to understand this simple fact before giving big media statements.
being a vw polo owner, can say one day vw group has to exit india, bcoz, first thing, party availability issue due to which no mechanic wants to touch this car, nd second most thing is, now private players lyk, Tata nd Mahindra, r really giving good products at a reasonable prices, I love my polo, it's a fun to drive car, but, also accepts that soon vw ll have no space in india to attract indians in future, but a request to VW group, just relaunch polo 6 months before u exit india, I don't lyk any other hatchback, nd my car is becoming old, thnx
VW No 1 Toyota No 2 and then all chotta mota brands. Read this In 2023, the Volkswagen Group reported a sales revenue of €322.3 billion, a 15.5% increase from the previous year. Their operating profit was €22.6 billion, with an operating return on sales of 7.0% . Toyota, on the other hand, reported sales revenue of ¥37.15 trillion (approximately €252.7 billion) and an operating profit of ¥3 trillion (approximately €20.4 billion) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023 .
First thing who are you to interpret they are leaving ? Second, overengineered products whose AC isn't upto the mark. Have you tested AC performance of these 2.0 cars in May- June summers in Delhi/NCR ? Then first lot had problems related to EPC issues. That has given them bad reputation. It made us feel like that they too testing on us by launching India Specific products like Tata or Mahindra. Such issues never appeared in their imported cars. Localisation doesn't means you will provide inferior quality. When market can be captured by providing MPFI engines then why need to provide GDI engines ? Till 1.5 Ltr NA engines can work there is no need of Turbo. NA engines are easier to maintain with least maintenance. Added components of Turbo means more complex engine and more maintenance Add to it they were mostly after Sedans inspite knowing that segment is almost dead now. They did investment and they can't expect more sales with the sort of service one gets in their ASC's. At times if something happens then cost of service is almost close to a price where one can purchase a new car. Is it justified ? For service too norms should be there as to what part can cost how much based on pricing of the car at which it was handed over to customer when new. Nowadays in name of service most companies are robbing customers. I purchased a Samsung phone of approx 30 K. If I will go to get it's display only changed then it will cost me approx 8-10 K. Will that cost be justified ? Is it a TV screen to cost that much ? Many other instances where people can't afford services but can purchase a new product instead. Why they never tried bringing a product like Baleno, Brezza or Wagon R with latest features and good build quality ? Neither they tried compact sedan segment nor a coupe like Arkana. Now they will bring under 4 m SUV but it too will come with 1 Ltr turbo only. No hybrid nor EV even as an option They can give 1.2 NA engine with full hybrid setup but they won't try it. Only petrol models can't bring volume sales. Even new Nexon doesn't has CNG so sales slumped. In cities people want mileage which turbo engines unable to provide. Check sales data as to how many are purchasing turbo engines cars still. I don't think that makes even 5% of entire sales. What VW management thinks won't matter. Products should be designed as per requirement of customers in that market. Diesel option they don't have already but it was possible for them to procure diesel engines from Mahindra till it's providing them sales. Mahindra doesn't sells petrol engines much still. Check their diesel sales
