The fact that this movie was basically My Hero Academia years before it even dropped is entirely wild to me. Not just because of the whole superhero highschool shtick, but the MC being powerless and not gaining his powers until later on, his rival being an edgelord with fire-based powers, and the main girl character having feelings for him but being too afraid to confess them. It’s like totally wild. I also actually saw this when it first came out in theaters way back in the day, and I guess the fact Disney never milked it and made like a sequel with the character’s children or something like with Boruto makes it this pretty weird and charming time capsule.

this video was a complete mess to make btw. two hard drives broke, microphones broke, shit got turned in last second, etc. if any parts seem rushed, that's why. sorry

Fun fact: The costumes for this movie were designed by Michael Wilkinson, whose also made the costumes for movies like Watchmen, Batman v Superman, Tron Legacy and others.

Sky high was a underrated peak hero film It's sad that disney don't make live action movies like these anymore still good

This movie was such a classic, it’s really sad to hear that plans for a sequel fell through

Kind of feels like a prelude to My Hero Acadamia with the superhero school and the main character who started out with no powers.

Now, I don't hate 'childhood friends growing to fall for each other' and the 'saught far what was near' thing but in this case I was so MIFFED by the ending with the trope of 'main dude gets the girl' and I honestly thought that Layla and Warren would make more sense bc they actually had some chemistry. He was nice to her and she took the effort to see him as his own person, and not someone defined by his completely absent evil father. She actually SEES HIM and is one of few people who do. and sure she sees Will too, but he has a whole bunch of friends with him. and also it's not like...he has no powers for whole of the movie and then awakens them in the most crucial moment of a final BIG BATTLE and earns everyone's respect and whatnot. his POWER REVEAL BIG MOMENT happens during a rather low-stake cafeteria fight. It's nothing really grand, and he at once roocket boosts to the respect and regains his place as Golden Child. and I get this is supposed to be the type of story where the MC gets to the Popular CrowdTM club and lets it get to his head, forgetting about what really matters and it's an ok story...but still...romance wise? It'd honestly be so good to see Disney subvert the expectations and have Layla realize that her true love was waiting somewhere else. or maybe it's just bc I like me my sad/angsty bad boys with a heart of gold getting some love.

Sky high is such a fun movie that I wish we did get those cancelled sequels. The movie is like Disney invincible. Plus epic tom kenny and jill tally cameo. The only time I ever see a reference is from wonder over yonder. Lord dominator

I don't know if Dumbsville does his own editing or hires someone to do so, but whoever does, they deserve to be on the next Marvel/DC movie for their skills.

I loved Sky High when it came out. I found out it almost got a Disney Channel show at one point and a sequel called Save U. It's a shame Disney didn't do more after this movie but its a great standalone film.

I remember when My Hero Academia first premiered, people were drawing alot of parallels to this film, and I can kinda see why. Whether or not this film is better than MHA is certainly a topic up for debate, but regardless, I feel like you're onto something about this film being a progenitor to things like Invincible and The Boys: a deconstruction of superhero tropes and adds its own spin to the narative. Maybe if it had fewer clichés and more visual flare, somwthing like Scott Pilgrim or Kickass, then I feel like this film could have had a stronger cult following.

Sky High was definitely a big part of my childhood. I used to watch that movie religiously, and yeah some parts are cheesy, but I think that's the charm about it.

Not gonna lie. I actually liked this movie when I was a kid. Fast forward till now and I still like it despite how dumb amd cheesy it is. Not to mention, you can't beat a movie that has both Kurt Russell and Bruce Cambell at the same time.

This is actually my favorite live action movie made by Disney, it may be really corny and cliche sometimes but that's what makes it fun to watch!

Definitely one of the better movies you can pick up from the $3 bin.

As someone who had a Tron Legacy phase and has loved the movie ever since, that movie is a sequel to a movie just called Tron from the 1982 which itself was the first movie to make extensive use of CGI, which was programmed entirely without being able to see it until it was completed, rendered and outputted hoursor days later. I know they're controversial now, but Corridor Crew did a pretty good video featuring it. Legacy also got a animated spinoff series with some pretty unique character designs

If only Omniman were in this movie. He'd fix everything.
