When I was a teenager, my sister loved BOTDF, so I was forced to listen to some of it. I didn't enjoy it, but I didn't find it particularly offensive either. After this though, I'm so glad my mom never let my sister attend any botdf concerts or anything

While clearly Dahvie Vanity as a person is more concerning, I wanna take a second to point out that BOTDF is not the only band to sound like that. While they’re decent human beings, other bands that make crunkcore include Millionaires, Dot Dot Curve, BrokenCYDE until 2018, Breathe Carolina’s debut album, and some of 3!OH!3’s music. It’s dogshit and I will never understand its appeal.
Honestly...I'm a bit on the fence as to calling his band mates decent people Sure, I understand standing up for your friend when they're being accused of horrid things, but it's another thing to hear *multiple* accounts of similar issues from countless traumatized kids...like, actual children, *and* see several videos showing other acts that you were probably there for yourself, and say "bitch, you lyin'!"

As much as Chris sucks on his YT videos I think that his actual investigation is way better then what he’s recording. I mean watch any of his shows and you can see the research that goes to it. Creepy show art adds to much personal critique to the videos and skims over certain facts. Again I put more fate to the Chris who actually has legal aid then Creepyshow Arts

Not even a specific song, but a lot. -Smash OSTs from Brawl to Ultimate (a lot of rock music in that period. It was posted on 4Chan, which Damien admitted in one of the recent interviews that a couple of their classmates were active on. Some RU-vidrs are circulating a screenshot of Dahvie posting Lady Nogrady’s phone number as proof that Dahvie doxxed Damien.
Fun fact, Dahvie never wrote any of the music, almost all of it was written by his producer Rusty Wilmot, Dahvie only wrote the lyrics. But ngl I do like BOTDF. The lyrics are shit but the songs are so fun. Those hooks are good, idc. But I will agree that Rain and Shine is their funniest song, hands down. Still watch that video when I need a laugh.

Some more alternatives if you're not vibing with Lego Jesus's reccomendations: -Twenty One Pilots. They do electronic-emo right. Their instrumentals are well-constructed, the lyrics, whilst overly edgy at times, are meaningful and handle the topics that they tackle maturely. And do not worry, they do have comedy tracks, namely "TB Saga" and "Coconut Sharks in the Water". Start with the album "Vessel" as it is their best album in my opinion. -Weezer. This band can be heavy, emotional, and comedic at the same time and it still works. Their lyrical style is more on the geeky side, so you can still be "not like the other girls" while listening to them. The instrumentals are heavy, distorded, and almost perfectly convey whatever emotion they try to convey. Start with the Blue Album. -Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. This is a lesser-known electro-rock that reached its peak popularity in the eighties. OMD is primarily known for their lush instrumentals and poetic lyrics. Many of their songs are easy and fun to dance to. Listen to the album "Organization" first.
I'll never forget the time in high school that my class was doing one of those mandated anti-bullying powerpoints and it got to a page with celeb quotes about bullying and you could tell it hadn't been updated in a while because BOTDF was included...best part was my teacher was a millennial so he knew damn well and he just put his head on his desk and laughed his ass off. Jayy knew what was going on and helped. He made jokes about dahvies behavior. He didn't speak out against dahvie even after he left and when he did he tried to play off that he didn't know. He didn't say anything until he was forced to and then he just said enough to cover for himself. Jayy wasn't a victim.

At the time there wasn't many videos out going in detail about the whole thing outside of "dahvie gross". (which we didn't need 50 repeating that over and over again without actually adding anything else. Like it was a no duh dahvie is a shit dude) It was basically the "guilt by association" that rubbed me the wrong way. acting like people don't unintentionally justify the actions of thier toxic friends/families/relationships rubbed me the wrong way. (Some people if they have a really close friend tend to sometimes brush off small rad flags because "they're my friend they wouldn't do anything to hurt anybody" it's a bad way of thinking and sometimes hard to notice when acted on)

To this day I still feel like botdf insulted the pain caused by school shootings. Skynd did a song on columbine but didn't glorify it. In fact the song by Skynd on columbine was able to express the pain fear and absolute chaos of the high school shooting without coming off edgy or disrespectful.
