Hi Aaron, Fantastic looking piece of kit I can see hours of fun with that! I'm currently waiting for Defeng to get back to me with a final price and specs for a SVM-2 Workstation, so it was good to see you actually get a machine here safe and sound. I bought a 4th axis from him for my own cnc conversion and if the build quality of his machines are as good you will have no problems there. good luck Phil.
Justin Hartley Hey Phil, thanks mate I'm so excited to have this. The build quality is exceptional and I can't wait to use it. In hindsight I probably should have bought the SVM-2VMC due to its bigger work envelope. Next purchase in the future will be a lathe 😉
Hey Jody, thanks mate. I'm really excited about this little SkyfireCNC machine. We have a HAAS supermini mill at work (school) and I would have loved one for home, but this was more in my budget range. Hopefully I will have it fired up in a week or two. Cheers, Aaron.
G'day Kevin. Thanks mate, I really can't wait to fire her up. Still waiting on power though mate. Finally a "turn key" machine and no more bloody tinkering. Cheers, Aaron.
Nice purchase there Aaron. It will be great to see her running . I too was going to look at a Tormach but found it to be quiet pricey and after seeing some of the specs wondered why people where still buying them. Cheers from Brissy ;) Stephen
Hi Stephen, good to hear from a fellow Queenslander. I was born and raised on the Gold Coast. Moved down here in 06. Yes they are very expensive to purchase here in Australia. Especially with the exchange rate and added freight costs. My personal opinion is that the skyfirecnc is much better spec'd than its competition. I'm very happy with what I see so far. Watch this space for great things to come ;-) Cheers, Aaron.
Crikey, thats the fastest 3 months I could imagine! It looks bloody awesome Aaron. I am subscribed but never rang the bell....so now i know what it is for. Cannot wait for your next exciting production Aaron. Peter
G'day Peter. How's it going mate? Hey thanks buddy. I was going to catch up with over the school holidays, but had to go up to Qld for a family emergency (all good now). When I get the power hooked up you'll have to come over and take a look mate. Hey, are you missing your Tormach now? Maybe you might a Skyfire after you see mine lol ;-) Cheers mate, Aaron.
Like you, super busy for a while, moving out of the house. Now trying to get my build organised. UMM! well, actually I am. I noted in one comment about what you get from a Tormach compared to what you have got with your beauty. And I gotta say I think you are right. I loved my Tormach, but there were always a few things that I did not like(for the long term) and they certainly had me thinking about durability. But while I had her I was very happy. especially with the BT30 spindle. The guy that I used to supply with parts was not impressed with me selling my machine. Now he has no supplier for is accessories. He did get a local engineer to make a couple of parts(turned out he was a fabricator) and accurate measurements were not his forte unfortunately. Hence he then sent me the parts to fix them up, to make them useful. YES, OK, I am very itchy to get something again, But your machine looks fantastic....any news on the missing vice and Manual yet?? Warm Regards Peter
Hey Peter, Yes mate Defeng from Skyfire has been contact with me and is shipping the vice and pull studs out immediately. He is also sending me out a printed manual so i can use it with my machine. Need to catch up soon if you can? Please call and catch up before you leave mate please :-)
Hi love I'm so happy you finally got your machine you were waiting for. Now the fun begins lol. I always enjoy your vlogs. They are so interesting. Keep up the good work 😃😃😃
Thanks Jeff, me and you both mate. I haven't got the power hooked up yet and it's just sitting there teasing me FFS! I feel like a fat kid with no money looking the window of a hamburger shop lmao. Cheers mate, Aaron.
Hey man, yeah I'm an old school RC heli guy from way back. I've got a Century Predator, X-Cell Gassa, Trex 800 Gassa, Trex 550 and a scratch built scale Bell 47G. Yeah, love the Goblin as they are insane. My mate Luke (Cruddbucket) used to have one. Check out his RU-vid click on it. Cheers, Aaron.
Looking good mate, a few of us have been checking these out in lieu of the tormachs (way too expensive here for what you get), the feature list is impressive, keen to see how it runs!
Hey buddy how are you? Yeah I agree, way too over priced for what you get! Hopefully this little beast will solve all my home machining problems. Like I've stated previously, it's no Haas but you get good capabilities and great bang for buck in comparison to it's competitors in the same size and price range.
Looks Nice! Have to ask, what was the final price landed? I priced a Tormach in AUS and for what it was going to cost you may as well just shell out the extra for a full size Pinnacle VMC.
Hi Manny, this machine with everything shown in the video was landed a little over $22K. Bloody great bang for buck if you ask me. My machine is similar in size to a PCNC770. However, the skyfire is a mini industrial machine (servos and linear rails) etc... Cheers mate, Aaron.
Yeah no comparison on the specs, similar travels but the machine you've purchased is one step above. The equivalent Tormach is AUD$32,000 but without the Linear Rails, BT30, ATC, 8,000rpm Servo Spindle, Rigid tapping, 5-Axis Support etc.. So really it is a bargain of a machine. Haven't seen any videos of these machines running properly (full depth adaptive etc..) yet so will be interesting once yours is up and running see how it performs.
Manny Calavera yes you are correct Manny. A teacher mate of mine just bought a 770 for their school from the dealer and that's the exact price they paid.
G'day Mike how are you buddy? Thanks mate, I hanging out to turn the little sucker on. Like I said in one of my previous comments, "I feel like a hungry fat kid with no money looking through the window of a hamburger shop"!
russtuff Same. Looks like it has a beefy spindle and the linear rails are a nice feature. I do wonder what the castings look like on the column and base...
Pretty looking VMC you got there ! I went to their website but unfortunately prices are not listed. Any idea how much is the base price for the lower end Mach3 driven version ?
Hi Cristian, thanks mate I appreciate it. Hey, if you go to SkyfireCNC Instagram page and scroll down (approx 60 pictures before) he has listed the prices on a couple of photos that were posted ;-)
Found it ! Thanks, good pricing reference. Now, what would be the benefit of ordering the more expensive option with "industrial controller" instead of using a Mach 3 based PC ? The way I see it, the industrial controller allows you to program machine side using conversational mode. What other benefit do you see ?
Hey Cristian. I'm not a computer guru, but the biggest reason for me is to break free from the PC as there is lesser chance of getting bugs and other erratic behaviour caused by virus or operating system glitches (my personal opinion though).
Hey Aaron, looking really good there mate. Can't wait to see it powered up. Interesting that there looked to be other 2 mills next to yours on the first truck you showed. I wonder where they were headed...?
Hi Jeff. Yeah that's a good question mate. I know he ships these mills all over the world. I think mine is the 2nd or 3rd one in Australia. This is what you need mate. Sell up the Titan and drop the coin on one of these. When she's up and running you'll have to come down for a "Bo Peep". Cheers, Aaron
Hi. Question: How did you contact the SkyFire people? I've been trying to get in touch with the USA distributor but they never return my phone calls or emails. Will they sell direct?
Hello Franco, I dealt with the factory direct. However, that is because there wasn't a dealer in my country. If you're purchasing from within the USA you'll have to deal with Jan Boss. I suggest you join the facebook skyfireCNC group and contact him directly from there. My guess, I think your emails are going to spam or junk folder. He has this problem with his emails from time to time. Cheers, Aaron.
G'day Andrew how's things? Hope the teaching is going well for you? Thanks buddy I really appreciate it. I wish it was a HAAS, but wifey wouldn't allow me to spend that sort of budget. Hopefully good things to come with this little girl mate. Cheers, Aaron.
it looks like a competent machine! I like that it uses BT taper, that's a big advantage over the cheaper mills using R8 (or their own custom holders, terrible idea). If you haven't thought about it already, myself I'd enjoy watching a video with your initial thoughts on the machine once you've been able to make some chips. Little bit of cutting, little bit of talking, a light review? either way have fun!
Hey Andrew. Mate you are bloody mind reader. That's exactly what I'm going to do once she's up and running. I will probably only machine aluminium though, as I'm allergic to steel ha ha ha. I'll leave that up to the experts and real machinists like you to do ;-)
What power servos are on the machine? Got any model no.s? I want to fit my current machine with the same ones so I can shift them over to a skyfire if I buy one.
Hey mate, sorry but I haven't got a clue on that one. I would have to remove covers to see them. My suggestion is to contact Peter (Salvun) as he did post some photos of his servo motors pulled off on Instagram. Cheers, Aaron.
Dillon Green Hey Dillon, yes the SkyfireCNC is great bang for buck compared to its competitors. I love the servos all round, ATC and BT30 tooling. She's up and running now so I'll post that video late tonight 👍
G'day Martin great to hear from you and thank you. Although I haven't turned it on, I am really impressed with what I see so far. Hey I apologise for being so slack, as I've been meaning to catch up with but never get around to it. Maybe you and Nigel can pop over to look at my new mill once she's up and running? Cheers, Aaron.
Aaron, Once you have "first chips" I will see what I can organise with Nigel! I would love to visit and I am sure he would too. We were discussing this morning what method you used to get your good lady wife to agree to your buying the machine, what's the secret, we would love to know :), Martin
Hi Scot, thanks for watching my video hope you found it informative. You can actually purchase those castor wheels from Alibaba.com. Just go to their website and search for "industrial machine castor wheel". It should be the first one that comes up in their search. They sell for $5-10 USD each. Cheers, Aaron.
G’day Paul. I am unsure mate. I sold it on and the new owner had some troubles with it. However it was working fine when I sold it. Obviously it had some gremlins when I owned it, but I would iron them out as they appeared. Cheers 🍻
Hey Grappler. Yes I had an opportunity to work with Syil so I got rid of the SF machine. Although I did have the SF running well at the end, it will never be as good as the Syil X7. Cheers ;-)
G'day Mr. Crank how are you mate? Great to hear from you bud. Thanks man, I can't wait to fire her up. When she's up and running you'll have to pop over for a "gooses gander". Cheers, Aaron.
Hello, I sold the machine after 1 year and bought a SyilCNC X7 combo. The Syil is 3 times the machine that the Skyfire was. Look at my other video and you can see this. Syil is the way to go 👍🍻
DCTTeacher1 You get alot for the money. I run 2 denford triac vmcs and a denford cyclone lathe and one of these would be a good fit. But i always worry that these chinese conpanies cone and go overnight and then your left with zero support
CDModelz Yes I agree (on both). Great bang for buck. Unfortunately that’s the risk you take these days. If I had the money and 3 phase power I’d buy a Haas. Cheers Aaron
Eagerly awaiting the next video, congrats on getting it all done and landed in the shop. Looks like another reason I would never recommend a tormach, they better get their act together or the Chinese will ruin them. Is 3 phase power required for this machine?
Hi Ben and thanks mate. It's no Haas or RoboDrill, but for $22K (US $16K) landed with accessories it's great bang for buck. In comparison to the Tormach it is equivalent in size to the PCNC770, but I believe the SVM-1VMC is better equiped. In comparison to the 770, a teacher mate recently bought one for their high school and it cost them way more than what I paid ;-)
DCTTeacher1 oh yea imho you cannot fairly compare the two machines, it's a night and day difference when you have servos, linear rails and an industrial control. You chose wisely, if I was in the market for a small machine like this it would be my choice as well. Heck maybe I would still buy one for running stuff anyways!
Thanks Chris. I'm hanging out to kick her in the guts. I've got the sparkie coming tomorrow to take a look and quote on running the new circuit. Cheers, Aaron.
Hi Iyke, not sure if you follow me on Instagram. But I have to make some arms for a scale Hughes 300 helicopter similar to the ones I posted today on Insta. Cheers, Aaron.
Yes I did the sale through Alibaba. I did this for consumer protection. However, my recommendations now is have a good look around. Many other CNC manufacturers in the marketplace. FYI: I sold my Skyfire machine and now have a Syil X7. The Syil is much heavier and better machine. Cheers, Aaron.
@@DCT_Aaron_Engineering ok thank you. I'm in the states and trying to get a 14"×40" manual lathe. But it seems that there isn't anyone who can give me answers regarding what costs are going to be tacked on once the ship docks here. I keep hearing taxes, tariffs and truck Freight. Which is fine. But nobody has any numbers. So anyways, how decent is the consumer protection with Alibaba? I haven't yet purchased through them.
Hi Henry. Best to contact a shipping agent and ask them these questions. You will have to know the exact cost and size of box that you are importing. They should be able to quote easily based on these figures. The shipping agent does these everyday and can assist you with the import of your product.
andrew s Hey Andrew. I really enjoyed my Skyfire SVM1 whilst I had it, but sold it for the Syil X7. Much better machine (10k spindle, 12 Tool ATC, more travels and double the weight). 🍻
Hi Jason. I sold this machine nearly 3 years ago now. Whilst I had it she worked fine. I believe the new owner has had some quirky problems with it. I now own a Syil X7. It's a much bigger, better and more capable machine. Here is my playlist if you're interested in checking it out. ru-vid.com/group/PLSlaZsvoFvDrt_CwfDkLXAy2H6hU9kuT2
Hey mate, thank you very much. On the contrary, this controller isn't that hard to use. A couple of RU-vid vids and I was up and running in no time. Cheers, Aaron
I've been looking at modeling the table and limits in Fusion 360 for the Cadcam. I can model it and share my models in exchange for dims. PM if interested. I don't think its in the Fusion library yet.
Hi Jaime, that sounds really cool. I'll get back to you on that. I'm really busy at the moment, but when I get a chance I'll shoot the dimensions over to you ;-)
Looking forward to see the rest of the story, and how you experience the Skyfire CNC. Subscribed. I'm sure you have done your research, but this vid seem to have some good tips on over comming some minor issues with this product: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SAdAzPZU2FY.html
Hey bud, thanks for the video link. I actually follow him and have seen this video before. I will try and do the same once my power is connected and she's up and running. Thanks for sub mate ;-)
