Aaron, that's is just brilliant. there are not many videos that were are going to hear, " how frigging sweet is that " , "frigging stoked" and "got my hand off it." you are a true australia Legend. So great to see someone that excited about a machine. looks great, will be good to see it producing some chips in the future.

G’day Paul, thanks for noticing mate. As I reflect over my years since the little CNC router, converted CNC, SkyfireCNC and Syil x7 I most certainly have. The steepest learning curve and professional growth was with the Haas Machines back in 2012-2017. Cheers buddy 🍻

I am glad your machine arrived and you love it. I paid Defeng $2700 for machine parts 3 years ago. He did not send the parts and he will not return my emails. I gave up long ago. I am not the only one that did not receive their paid orders .

Hello Greg. I'm very sorry to hear this mate. Please note that I'm not sponsered by Skyfire or Defeng in anyway shape or form. I make these videos for my own and subscribers enjoyment. Thankfully my order for $17K usd arrived safely to my house in Melbourne Australia. However, I purchase the machine via the Alibaba website and I used their trade assurance program to carry out the transaction. I realise that this wasn't 100% safe, but what is these days? Sincerely, Aaron.
@gregburns9532
@gregburns9532 7 лет назад
Hi Aaron thanks for the reply. Yes, I know you are not sponsored you just found a mill that looked good for a good price. I placed a order when Defeng when first started up, he promised a lot but did not deliver. I am a Pattern Maker in Qld Australia and i was converting my old Wadkin Pattern Makers mill to CNC . I paid him for all the electronics, spindle and spindle motor. The parts never arrived and he would not return my emails. Some one contacted him on my behalf about 6 months ago, he said he would deliver but still nothing. I wish you all the best with your new Mill, have fun and make lots of chips. Make lots of videos. Cheers Greg

You need a silent air compressor made from an old air conditioner scroll compressor like a Copland SC series mounted on a air receiver tank. Got 2 of them in my workshop for spray mist coolant. About as loud as a fridge running. Can't wait until you make something!
@DCT_Aaron_Engineering
@DCT_Aaron_Engineering 7 лет назад
Hey mate, yeah I would have bought a Chicago Air oil-less / silent compressor but no one in Melbourne sells them. The store that sells these are in Sydney and I was too impatient to wait. Once I get some more funds coming in I’ll get one. Until then the old girl will have to do :-(

Hi Robert, yes bud I get a little excited at times. I've actually got a "PI" following my wife around as I think she is planning to divorse me because of mylove for this machine (joke ha ha ha). Great work regarding the qoute. I contacted Defeng from Skyifre directly, but I actually did the purchase through Alibaba using their trade assurance program. This was the advice I got from my lawyer regarding doing transations with China. To be honest, I have found Defeng and SkyfireCNC to be honest and everything they said they were going to do they did. Hope this helps you mate? Cheers, Aaron.

Another great video Aaron giving a great insight into these machines, Doesn't it look fantastic. I placed an order with Defeng last week for a SVM2-VMC and having your video verifying what I already thought is extremely helpful. Can't wait to see you cut some metal with it. Thanks for taking the time to tell of your experience. Hanging out for the next video. Phil.

Phil Hartley Hey Phil, what Tha? You placed an order? Holy cow that's freaking awesome mate, congratulations. I'm really excited for you. My only regret was that I should have bought the SVM2 instead of the SVM1, but I can always use the Haas SMM2 at work if I need a bigger work envelope 👍

Phil Hartley Oh yeah, I remember now as you told me that in a previous comment. Yes I was very nervous about importing directly from China so I used Alibaba.com and their trade assurance protection. PPSAaron, I went back to every Skyfire vid I could find last night 😄One thing struck me on all of the demo vids, particularly those showing heavy cuts on steel.Maybe the 'stick-out' with the collet system is a bit too much, and maybe some of the work holding was a bit how's-ya-father.... but I noticed quite a bit of noise/chatter coming through.I'll be interested to see some heavy cutting when you get into testing mode 😄
@DCT_Aaron_Engineering
@DCT_Aaron_Engineering 7 лет назад
Hi Robert. Yes I have to agree with you there. I think these videos sound so terrible because of the machining strategy used by the operator. I know that on my industrial controller it has built in CAM programming, which is what I think they used. These are generic “old school” machining strategies. Plus they are machining steel on their machines and not aluminium. Even I look good at machining aluminium ha ha ha. I purposely bought my machine for aluminium work and I will be CAD-CAM'ing everything in Autodesk Fusion 360 ;-)

Usually the tool balancing is an issue with cheaper holders. If you don't exceed 7000-8000 RPM then the negative effects are drastically reduced. Of course the holders could be great, just no way to really know ahead of time...

That's OK Robert. DDP means door to door all frieght, insurance, taxes and tarrifs paid. DDU means door to door taxes and tarrifs unpaid. Please do your research before purchasing. Check in with customs in your country and find out the amount of tax they will charge you. If you opt for DDP you pay up front to the Skyfire. Thanks in advance for showing this off!!!! I have a few questions about the machine. 1.) Servos or Steppers? 2.) 4th/5th axis support? 3.) Spindle HP? 4.) Is that REAL TOOLING?!?!? O_o 5.) how much was is? 6.) Overall weight? 7.) do you have any experience with tormach, and would you recommend this over a tormach or the otherway around?
@DCT_Aaron_Engineering
@DCT_Aaron_Engineering 7 лет назад
Hey buddy how are you? Thanks for watching my video. Yeah, I'm very impressed with the SkyfireCNC. Skyfire make three sizes 0, 1 & 2 which are all very similar to the Tormach's (440, 770, 1100). Now mine is the SVM-1VMC. It has an industrial controller (not linux or PC) and it runs servos all round not steppers. The machine is single phase with a "real" BT30 servo spindle (3HP / 8000rpm). Being a servo spindle it can ridgid tap. My machine has a 5 axis controller and is roughly weighs 650kg. It cost me just over $17K usd delivered (DDP) with all tooling and 2 x machine vice. Contact Defeng at Skyfire as he can custom make a machine to suit your budget and requirements. Hope this helps? Cheers, Aaron.

Hi Manny, yes I did some test cutting in timber only yesterday. My good friends from over at CADPRO (Scott Moyse) made a post processor for the Adtech controller. So far so good ;-). I'll upload some test cutting footage this week hopefully. Cheers, Aaron

Hello and thanks for watching. I have made a video that answers most of these questions. Here is the link to that video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aQ5tmf0vXzo.html I suggest not wasting your money on this brand of machine. I now own a Syil X7 and it much bigger and better. Regards, Aaron

You can buy a dentist to use the air pump, very quiet but very small. I bought two 30L oil-free silent pump, than the dentist to noisy, but the sound can be accepted. Your air pump is the most unbearable, especially in enclosed space. Good video!

Hey man, yeah I know. Some day soon I'll purchase a much quieter type (Chicago air or similar). All my money went on the Mill ha ha ha ;-)

DCTTeacher1 You could build a cheap little sound deadening enclosure around that compressor and it would barely be noticeable

Adam Postans Hi Adam I bought this machine back in 2017 and paid $22,000 for it. I have since sold the machine and I’m now using a Syil X7 CNC machine. Check out my channel and you’ll see some videos of the Syil in action 🍻
