Charlotte Roy that quest makes it clear Heaga got him drunk for that excursion as part of her Dibellian Arts and Bolli has yet to return to the bunkhouse after
@@ReplicatorFifth You can find a note to Haelga regarding one of her "conquests", where the author plans on bringing a trout to their next liaison. Many people speculate that Bolli is the author of said note, due to his occupation and how easy it would be to acquire a spare trout.
You forgot to mention that Mallus' "boss" has practically enslaved him, which was the entire reason Mallus works with Maven. Context is important, especially in this case.
I honestly saw Olfrid in a different light than what you said. I think it was a bit less black and white than "he knew about Thorald and lied." Why would Tullius send a message to Olfrid directly? Olfrid was probably the one who inquired about Thorald's location; after all, the families were friends for generations, and the feud can't destroy their history. If Olfrid got word that Thorald was imprisoned by the Empire, he could use his political sway to ensure his safety. During the feud, he could hold it over the Grey-Mane's heads that he's the only thing keeping their son from the chopping block. After the feud/war ended, his safe return could bring their families closer together. Or, if he wanted to end the feud during the war, he could've bought Thorald's freedom. (Or he could order his execution, I can't prove otherwise.) But, Thorald wasn't held by the Empire; he was held by the Thalmor. Olfrid would have no say in what they do to him, and he would likely be tortured and killed instead of freed. If he told the Grey-Manes, their response would likely be the same as in the actual quest; storm the Thalmor prison, free Thorald, and flee into the Stormcloaks. Without the Dragonborn, however, this would've likely been a one sided slaughter. The Thalmor would certainly retaliate by killing the Grey-Manes for treason. Then, they would find out about Olfrid's inquiries, and house Battle-Born would also be killed off for treason. So, instead of killing off both families, Olfrid just opted to lie and hope they come to terms with Thorald's death. TL;DR: Olfrid can't pay off the Thalmor, and telling the Grey-Manes about Thorald's imprisonment would eventually get both families killed by the Thalmor.
@sabergreen2010 Eh, with this context, the mocking very well could have been his attempt at getting Fralia to drop it. It's an impossible situation from Olfrid's pov. He posed a query about the son of a family friend hoping to influence the empire into releasing him. Learning that the captors are actually the Thalmor, there is now nothing to be done by either family. He could tell the Greymanes what happened but they'd end up storming the fort and likely perish. It's a very Machiavellian tactic pulled by Olfrid in which he sees as the ends justifying the means. Ends: Greymane family mostly stays safe in Whiterun. Means: One of their sons dies at the hand of the Thalmor.
Every time you reveal secrets in people's houses, it's usually news to me. I don't often break into random npcs houses, especially if there's no quest there. I'm sure I'm missing a lot of.. domestic secrets and such.
I've watched maybe 100 of your videos in the past 2 weeks at work... and now I'm playing skyrim again. Your videos keep me company while I work everyday💖 thank you for loving this game so much
12:11 if you attack someone in solitude, there is a small chance you will get a letter from Advar asking you to attack that lady, but not kill her. It’s probably a glitch where the game thought you already started the mission.
For the Grey Mane one, i really think the Battle Borns didnt know at first. Then they inquired after he went missing and got an answer... they just dont want to tell the Grey Manes because it involves the Thalmor.
i think you're not giving olfrid enough credit - the guy made enough enquiries to catch general tullius' attention to try and FIND the guy, after all. he wanted to know where he was, presumably so they could go get him back if they could, but pretty reasonably backed off on learning that the thalmor are involved. true, it doesn't excuse him taunting fralia the way he does or his general arrogance, but he was still ultimately trying to help.
The reason Addvar wants Jala killed is because she's Ahtar's girlfriend. For anyone who doesn't know, Ahtar is the executioner who kills Roggvir when you enter Solitude. Addvar wants Ahtar to know how it feels to lose someone close to them.
Ya know, I think Maven was the reason the Thieves Guild questline felt so hollow. No matter how many daedric princes you had at your back, she'd still win.
Idk if you know this, probably do but I just found out about it the other day, after you complete the dark brotherhood quest line and go buy all the upgrades for the new shrine there will be " torture victims" in the new torture room you add on, after clicking on them a few times and a few rounds of random dialog they will give you areas that they hid treasure and gold, not sure if it resets but all 4 victims give a location and I got from 1000-2000 per location easy way to make some coin! I'm hoping they reset after some in game time lol, love the channel btw! Huge fan!
on the topic of Riften, and Jarl Lawgiver, I am pretty sure her best interests aren't in Riften any more then her stewards. Her conversations with others pretty much point out that she's not oblivious to things that are happening so much as complicit in letting it happen.
Funny thing is that Maven also did the Black Sacrament, you can see it when you break into her house and go to the basement, then unlock the Master Lock. Welp, here it is, with a note sayin smth like she's a bit disappointed but tbh dont remember much more
If you finish the thieves guild quest up until Sabjorn is arrested, and only then start the civil war quest, Siege of Whiterun, Sabjorn will be seen FLEEING THE CITY IN THE SIEGE OF WHITERUN! And he'll spit nasty comments at you, and then running to the now black briar west meadery! Little detail I found.
Yo, Nate, you ever gonna drop the links to all these gorgeous mods you use? I have a few of them, but your game just looks so stunning, I gotta have 'em all!
For some reasons I think Maven is quite a good character....Definitely not because she is a good person (she is obviously a 'bad' guy), but damn she is so good at what she is supposed to do to maintain a syndicate. And yes as a chemist in real life I really like Ingun, because she seems to be a relatively 'modern' alchemist, as she does animal experiments and has a good understanding about the integrity of living organisms (quite bad I cannot marry her in the base game, it is always great to marry a Black-Briar as the guild master as well as a secret Dominion agent which I always imagine to be while playing as High Elf or Khajiit)
If you speak to Nivenor as a male Dragonborn, she'll say "If you're looking for company, I suppose I could do worse." If Boli dies for some reason other than you, she will have to work and will be visibly upset about it.
My theory about Bolli/Niv: Bolli had an affair with Haelega. From his guilt, he devotes his life to Mara, Goddess of love as a repentance, and keeps some distance from his own wife, making her feel unloved. Nivenor finds out about the affair, and is driven into a depression. Her love of Bolli fades, and turns to shopping and flirting for comfort. Bolli, the cheater, becomes paranoid that Nivenor is cheating due to her own distance, and the fact that since he cheated, maybe she has as well (which is a common trope for cheaters). He hires a detective, who sees Nivenor is flirting with men, but has no proof she's gone through with it.
Call me crazy, but I don't trust the children of skyrim. You can walk around in full daedric armor, sword in hand, and they will still want to play tag. Smh those kids are up to something no good.
COOKIE WOKE yeah that one girl in whiterun even treatens to beat you up, while your walking in an armor made out of the blood of a god heart of a demon
@@Wow-cr2ll Hahaha YES. Then suddenly they're walking around town in their underwear. Or dead. But the second option only happens if they're not a merchant. I have standards!
@@blazethunder5525 He DOES claim that something was slipped in his drink, so there is a slight chance he wasn't really to blame (although it could just be an excuse to save face). Alternately, since he knows Nivenor is cheating on him and is only waiting for proof to confront her, he may feel the relationship is already over.
I wish there was a Dark Brotherhood contract to kill her. It'd make sense as the DB have no true loyalty even if they are somebody who has hired them in the past. If that is too much then at least make her non essential.
Hey Nate.. leave me out of this one and I’ll allow ONE visit to the cloud district.. okay? Do you get to the cloud district very often? Oh what am I saying, of course you don’t.
It's Nazeem, Daedric god of Insults, Bragging and Big-headedness. His realm of Oblivion, commonly known as the unreachable realm is actually called "The Cloud District" very few have managed to get to this place, all who have mysteriously dissappear. They say if you visit the Drunken Huntsman on Fredas 13th at midnight you can find the portal to his realm inside the top room. His artifacts are a dagger that whenever it hits the opponent has a chance to frenzy them called "Bragrage" and a war hammer that when it hits the floor causes all nearby mortals to fly into the air called "Cloudreacher"
Quantium I have been looking for you! Got something for you, your eyes only. Let’s see here....AH! It’s a letter....no, no idea from who, some tall person in a dark robe paid a lot to get this in your hands. 🤣🤣🤣
1: Mallus was a victim of predatory loans, sobjorn knew he couldn’t pay back. 2 Bolli is also cheating on his wife and you the player gets proof. 3 Olfrid didn’t capture thorald, he was just asked by the general of the imperial army he is loyal to, not to say anything. Also the letter said after inquiries have been made, leading me to believe that Olfrid was trying to find Thorold as well and was told to be quiet. Maybe he still feels some sympathy for his at one time friends. 4 I can’t really defend. 5 Not really enough info to be sure but hiring assassins is bad.
I would cheat too if my wife was and also a gold digger but hey that’s why but hey that’s why my son nelkir has a different mom the. The other kids of mine
@@mattseman5682 Because they openly support it. The Empire would seek all and any allies within Whiterun considering they don't know which side would Balgruf pick.
One honorable mention is maven herself. Break into her home, and head to the basement. She's not one to shy away from a little "motherly help" if she feels she really needs it.
TO BE FAIR, there's no evidence she ever said that. In fact, the exact same quote dates to before she was even born and was merely attributed to "a French princess".
@@Samzillah Well the problem isn't the idea that it might have been a person.. relatively recently. It's just, most people don't consider dead people decoration.
To be fair I would decorate my house with skulls in fact I do it in real life because they look cool maybe he is like me and think that skulls look cool
In Anuriel's defense, Laila Law-Giver is horrendously incompetent as Jarl. Only Elisif is less suited for the job. Yeah, even Siddgir is better than her. Maven basically rules the city in everything but name, until the Empire reclaims Riften, which gives her the perfect opportunity to take the spot without usurping the position and risking retribution. Say what you want about Maven, she's damn good at what she does.
@@recklessabandon5678 Elisif is Queen/Jarl through marriage, she was not appointed as a High King/Queen usually is and she was not raised in the Jarl's household, marrying into her position, which means her political savvy is next to zilch. I'm not saying she's an idiot, just incompetent, as anyone who is untrained would be and she, herself, recognizes this. This is the reason she wholeheartedly supports Tullius (She may hate Ulfrik, but she doesn't have to be Tullius's Yes-man in the process). If she did not support Tullius and the Empire thusly, she would be removed, as her inexperience would be detrimental to Solitude, so she submits to their authority, allowing the Empire to control the region through a proxy ruler, thus keeping her position. The reason I brought up Elisif was to highlight just how much of a terrible Jarl Laila is. She doesn't have the same excuses, being completely blind and easily manipulated, deluding herself that she's untouchable as Jarl.
I gotta say I agree. I usually go the Stormcloak route, and to me one of the major downsides of it is it leaves Laila as Jarl. Sue me, but I don't think the Stormcloaks are that bad. Laila on the other hand? Ehhhh... The comparison to Elisif is a good one too. It's always seemed to me, Elisif does whatever she's told, while Laila believes whatever she's told. I mean, she doesn't even question Anuriel. She's quite literally making it too easy.
@@coffeepoweredkatie6290 of course stormcloaks are not bad but i think when they fight the imperials theyre fighting the wrong enemy even if the imperials are forced to work with the thalmor i dont think they want to do this for long time i'd rather think that the imperials just want to recover from war before fighting the thalmor again (sorry if i misspelled something english is not my first language)
i have to defend elisif here. she is actually aware that her husband might have followed ulfric if he'd just asked thanks to syblle. and while she is not experienced in governing she is not as easy to manipulate as law giver, who is to confident in herself to questions anything. even if she can see that ulfrics motives are not entirely selfless
The way you edit has changed, and I really like the direction you’re going in. I usually listen to these while I’m doing misc quests, but the newer style of editing is much nicer to look at, keep them coming!
8:01 sad thing is Olfrids Son still cares about his former friend and if your persuasion is high enough he'll reveal hes been exhausting his resources with the Empire to find his former friend to potentially save him, and discovered what happened to Thorald but wouldn't dare move against the Thalmor. Its one of the alternate ways to learn of his fate. Makes the GrayMane-Battleborn feud much more tragic and Olfrid that much more despicable.
There's someone like this that I saw the other day and I was not expecting it. I've mostly completed the dark brotherhood quest line and a Riften guard whispered "I know who you are. Hail Sithis!" I was not expecting it
With that said, the sheer dickish attitude in that one scripted scene outside Belathor's is just uncalled for. Typical case of the Skyrim devs laying it on so thick it'd not be left for doubt, or him knowing and using that breadcrumb as an excuse to heap more abuse at the clan he's fueding with? YOU MAKE THE CALL!
@@Jynx9921 Understandable. But remember that the clans were already at odds because of the war, and Fralia was accusing them of something they didn't do.
I dunno nate, The dragonborne has alot of skulls in his house as decoration , it just seems to be a popular trend among the people of skyrim. Nothing suspicious about it
yo nate, i got something you could include in a vid. Did you know that as you kill dragon, while its on fire, if you look at your current location from your map you can see the fire from the map view.
If you're going to make a series out of this, please include the meat trader in Markarth. During a side questline, you actually realise he is in a cannibalistic cult and he might be selling human meat.
Sabjorn is exploiting a bad deal the guy did with him, so is easy to understand his reasons... He never talks about kill the guy just put him in prison
"Maven Black-Briar proves herself to be one of the games few villians that truly is untouchable" Thankfully there is a mod to change that, said mod will leave a letter at Breezehome in which an anonymus writer asks the Dargonborn to get rid of her permamently and disables her immortality
Tbh If my spouse was giving away half of our fortune to poor people and preaching I'd leave him too, you can be gracious but that doesn't mean you have to suffer in turn.
These videos get me in the Skyrim mood. Anyone else ever delay returning the dragon stone to dragon reach? I was at level forty before deciding to resume the quest line. You must save the word, but why don’t you spend time on some miscellaneous or minor side quests? Now I gotta meet up with Delphine at Kynesgrove, but I’m really kinda busy doing stuff for some factions. Thieves. Dark Brotherhood. Imperials. Fetching things for NPS to get in their will. Playing tag or hide and seek with kids 🤣
