Love in "Dragon Rising" when Irileth is giving the guards her pep talk there's this one guard who just says it like it is only really quietly. A dragon is attacking Whiterun? "Now we're for it!" he mutters. And when she shouts, "Who's with me?" he whispers, "We're so dead!" Only guard in the game who acts like dragons are really bad news.
Maven Black-Briar: "I can get the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild after you!" Dovahkiin: *Laughs in Guild Master, Listener, Arch-Mage, Vampire Hunter, Companian, Thane of all Holds, Champion of the Daedric Lords and Slayer of Alduin/Miraak/Harkon*
Not to mention, property Barron, random mass murderer, slayer of no less than a thousand dragons singlehandedly and the true high king of skyrim (through mods for the last one)
This may be an unpopular opinion but I hope TES6 makes it so that you can't be in rival factions like FO4. The fact that you can do everything is kinda annoying to me? Like, c'mon, how the fuck could you do all that shit? There's something about that that causes me to be pulled out of the world.
@@JenIsHungry I agree actually. I've casually played on and off for years but I've just started my first sincere playthrough and I'm experiencing that exact disenchantment.
Eddie Peraza You can get Lydia to take up the position of steward in the hearth fire expansion. It gets her out of your bedroom watching you whilst you sleep at least
@@RocafellaPlaza Lydia was my favorite and sadly she died(wolf queen quest in solitude I have hated that quest ever since) on my first playthrough before I knew I could marry people and when I was getting married for some reason she fell from the ceiling and completely ruined my marriage sermon because everyone started attacking me like I killed her in front of them or something.
In regards to Balgruuf's son killing him, Bethesda left in a piece of dialog where Irileth says "sometimes I think his own children want him dead." I'm surprised Nate didn't mention that.
The thing which has always alarmed me about Breezehome is the fact that the bed is positioned directly above a giant, flaming firepit which burns 24/7. Anyone trying to use that bed is going to be aesphyxiated while sleeping.
If you check Maven's house properly you will also find that she made a Black Sacrament so we can already know that Bartlet was killed. The only question is where.
Or just soul trap him into a gem and leave it sitting on a dresser or something, so he can just occupy the house in a less inconvenient way. Kinda like that dude trapped in Azura's Star.
I love how when Nate is talking about Balgruuf's cut content he just keeps cutting back to video footage of Balgruuf lying dead on the ground with his face in the planks.
@@svet370 open console, select balgruf and then just type kill, he actually shows it in the video, if you have trouble selecting him look up how to select him via commands.
@@DragonGunzDorian One: Tullius is an actually good character so if you kill him you're just an idiot. Two: fucking hell yeah I would definitely murder the shit out of Delphine. Three: eh I feel if you could kill Maven you'd be hunted down for the rest of your life so... nah
Brekker Yeah I wish she changed her attitude towards you depending on your positions in those guilds... it makes sense when you first meet her but if you talk to her as the best of the best she still acts like she has any power over you
LOL, yea, I wish I could tell her I killed Astrid and emptied the Brotherhood's base (which I've done on all but 2 playthroughs) and am therefore not afraid of DB … or Dragons, random bandits, cave fulls of Vampires, etc.
@@spicybeantofu I never play as a 100% good character, most of the time my character is in a very grey area. My Fallout character on the other hand tries to do the right thing whenever he can.
You have the option to go to Whiterun's steward and tell him that someone is living in Breezehome. He will take a guard and travel to Breezehome and evict Terek out. From there, Terek will wander around Whiterun like the Beggar Brenuin
Imagine spending your life breaking into a home and claiming it then some dude barges in chops your head off and then having your soul used to enchant some smelly boots
For the Maven quest, there's a master level lock in her home in Riften. If you get in there you find that she's performed the dark brotherhoods dark sacrament. Theres a letter from maven to Astrid asking why a certain someone wasnt dead yet. I assumed that was related to this case but maybe not
@@abramdelisle5746 it seems to start happening after you hit level 12 if you don't join the dark brotherhood before that. I always wondered if it was someone I pissed off somehow but it happens in every game I play. Might be worth testing out sometime by avoiding meeting any NPC after leaving Helgen until you hit level 12 and see if assassins still attacking you.
@@davidstorm2224 I dunno about them, but it disgusted me in part because they changed the lore to appease the new online community. I quit playing it after about 6 days. I tried really hard to like it. But I am still playing and loving Skyrim
@@denilla8034 There is appeasement and practiality for gameplay. I'd be curious what big unsufferable change they made to draw you away. I quite like it myself and most lore-breaking elements are... explained by lore breaking elements. Dragon Breaks are an integral part of the lore.
Regarding Maven killing that dude: There's a skeleton at the bottom of a waterfall by Darkwater pass with a big rock tied around his legs. Maybe she had the dude executed gangster style?
I think trying that trick about launching him off the map using a lumber mill Nate told us about a while back might be entertaining. Of course, murdering him to death would probably be quicker and easier.
@@DennisMoore664 Well, launching them into a much more literal cloud district would probably also murder them to death. Provided they didn't like leave the map and despawn or something.
Ok so this info is for the 10 tiny details videos, so when you interact with any of the dark brotherhood members, when you get to choose your response, always choose "remain silent" no matter what always choose that option, the old guy will have something interesting to say about it and others have some interesting dialogue. So here you go have some fun
@@flinfake Thank you! I'm doing a mage play through for the first time and I don't like having more than one play through at one time. Deleted characters by mistake and all that. So I would have to quit that character before starting a assassin character
Irileth actually foreshadows the Balgruuf’s son thing early on in the game, she says something along the lines of “I think even his own son might want him dead”
I was always a little disappointed at how small whiterun was compared to windhelm and Solitude when you consider the role it has according to people and story.
It would be possible to kick Terak out without killing him. You just had to report him to the jarls steward who would then come and kick him out. I know this because it seems either the mod Relationship Dialouge Overhaul or Cutting Room Floor accidentally brought him back into my game. After kicking him out he would just wander around Whiterun, hating you.
Dragonborn: Preston, let me introduce you to Skyrims Space Program, you are going to love it. *Five seconds and a moon flight later* Dragonborn: And ever return!
@@mattes4929 Preston: * laughs in essential NPC * Preston: While I was up there I potted a town that's being attacked by raiders, here I'll mark it on your map... Dragonborn: ;-;
I might be the only one, but I like Preston's constant complaining about settlements. It's fun to indulge him and I usually get to kill something so it's a win/win.
@@left-2-write28 True. It's like "what do I get to kill today?". I can see how it'd get annoying when you actually have a plan to do something else though.
I'm not sure if this was Cutting Room Floor or RDO (both I believe include Terek) but there is another choice to get rid of him. If you go to Avinici back in Dragon's Reach you can tell him about the squatter. It takes a minute but you can then follow Avinici who tells you that he'll take care of it, and a guard back to Breezehome. The ensuing scene (which I won't spoil) is hilarious.
Ok but Terek would've actually been an awesome roommate. trying to contact the police to remove him, or even just growing to like him. I think someone should mod him in as a funny friend.
"Sure Bethesda IS dedicated to little details..." Correction. "Bethesta WAS dedicated to details", now thay dont even care about big problems in their games - thinking of fallout 76.
@Jacob Underwood not finishing all things in big games is normal. Important is for cut content to not influence rest of the game negatively (like this cut out butterfly quest). But relesing a game full of buggs that have been known for years is just evil. Not mentioning this Role play game drama Bethesda created not long ago where they preety much copied some other title just changing details, but it still was quite obvious. After what happened with fallout 76 I dont trust them with TES VI. Even tho I love Skyrim and play it to this day I will wait with puchase of TES VI until proper reviews come out. Bethesda got lazy and unimaginatice with their products not mentioning lying about their products before relase. I swear if I heare "it just works" again when they present TES VI I'm just giving up on them -_-
I really like this series! The part about Breezehome was my favorite. I never go there once I can build my own house, but I'm very emotionally attached to it from my early play days.
Lol! They probably took Tarek out because they knew 99% of the time it would go like, "This is my home, I live....(SLASH) augghhh..." (player casually steps over body)
Hey Nate! A few years ago I had a lvl 21 khajiit vampire. I was roleplaying as a bandit and one day when I returned to my home I found tons of bandits. As I walked inside I realized none of the bandits were attacking me. I wasn’t sneaking at all when I got on the bridge. I approached multiple bandits and they still didn’t attack me. There wasn’t a bandit leader either. The only one who attacked me was this one female bandit near the alchemy table. I was wondering if this was a glitch or a feature that was in the game. And sorry for my grammar, lol. I’m not very good with it.
@@NanoKai so there’s a guy at the end of a bridge near the tower who is pretending to be hurt and he takes you back to the tower and they all turn hostile and ambush you.. I found this out the other day.
Nate, do an old Skyrim player a favor and make a video in which Alva from Morthal survives the quest involving Movarth. It is difficult, yet the rewards (especially if one is a vampire) are considerable. Alva becomes quite friendly and the game provides dialog to support this feat. It is difficult, l know you love a challenge!
@@thehulk2711 I've played both morrowind and oblivion. Morrowind is what got me into the more western RPGs. Though man the way the weapons missed when your skill is low was annoying AF when I first started.
Monsecko I never really got into oblivion, I’ve beaten all the guild and main story but I just can’t get into it, morrowind on the other hand I play more than Skyrim I love morrowind
I'm telling you, just watching Nate's videos have made me play this amazing game yet again for like the 20th time. Except this time, I'm playing as a mage. Before, I was STRICTLY a warrior class. No potions, no magic (except for when I absolutely had to; i.e the College of Winterhold entrance exam and the one Dwemer crystal puzzle later in that quest line). No shouts except for when I had to, i.e clearing the mountain to get to partysnax or to bring down Alduin with Dragonrender. And I played this on legendary difficulty, I know that seems hard but it really wasn't, especially that I was able to defeat Alduin at level 15 and have most of the dragon priests by then. I didn't use glitches or anything to exploit the game, I will admit I have in the past but that was after I had beat Alduin and won the Civil War and done all the quests, but still sticking to my Nordic warrior build. Now I'm playing as a mage and it just seems harder for some reason. I had to knock the difficulty down to adept at most. Having to manage all the magic reserves and potion making and everything, it is tedious. But I will say though, I've never had an inventory so cleared up and empty before lol. So, again, thank you Nate for your videos and getting me back into this *THICC* game.
so endlessly happy to see recent Skyrim content! I got on the bandwagon late but I love the game so much and I'm so glad to see others still enthused about TES.
Irileth being a former member of the Morag Tong ties up some loose ends. The Tong are aligned with Mephala which would explain the Ebony Blade in the basement. Maybe Irileth renounced it to pledge allegiance to Baalgruuf.
Very first second of the video and I've already learned something I didn't know about Whiterun! In 10 years of playing the game and being a UESP editor, I don't recall ever having noticed that the "random" rock cluster behind the Skyforge *isn't* a random rock cluster! How have I not noticed this? I've been high enough to notice that Jorrvaskr is a boat...I guess I just never looked in the direction of the forge before. 🤷♂️
I want the cut version of Mephala quest! That's just so awesome!!! And kind of hilarious 🤣 I always thought something was missing due to Nelkir dialogue but never to this extent 😅
In the Cutting Room Floor mod, Tarek is added in and, I'm not sure if this option was added by the mod or not, but you can have a guard arrest him in order to remove him from the house
Terek: This is my house and you can't have it. Me: Hmm. A hobo who'll watch my shit, Lydia, and all this gold I have....I know what I must do. *Becomes Dovahman and Terek becomes Skeever while Lydia watches my shit.*
After you complete the whispering door side quest, Balgruufs youngest son will sometimes say "You spoke to the whispering lady didn't you? It's good to be in on the secret isn't it?" But you can't talk to him anymore even though it sounds like you would to continue the quest.
Been playing Skyrim again and been watching a lot of your old videos. Love goin back and listening to these while messing around in game. Or even doing other things. Plus, they got me to start playing ESO as well when you mention that in other videos.
Actually you could get rid of terek by talking to the the Steward. One of my mods (dont know which one) puts him in my game and the steward (proventus?) had dialog about him and Will send a guard to escort him out.
About Ireleth, I think one of the quests tells us about her past. The quest for the ebony blade, the one where it gets stronger when you betray your allies. She received the blade when she was serving with the Moraga tong, but the blade was driving her crazy and tempting her to kill her loved ones. Bolgruf saved her from the blade and sealed it, so she stayed with him to protect the blade
Also the webnovel Dragonborn Saga mentioned ireleth and her background, and even absolves it. Honestly the novel is soooo good. It's just skyrim but lore correct and huge and it's as if the world of skyrim is real and you can play through it. The closest I'll get to ultimate vr skyrim and it's great. Love it. My favorite ever. Love skyrim and makes me love skyrim saga
I still have the big giant hardcover Skyrim game guide book. It's amazing. Like 500+ pages. Massive book. Multiple ribbons hanging from the book spine to use as bookmarks. It has every last bit of information you could possibly need on every last thing in the game.
I like to think about how cool itd have been to be able to customize a single dungeon to be a base for the dovakiin as some mods let you do, and fort graymoor was one i always thought could be a neat town. That and a mine that orc bandits seem to be outfitting to become a new stronghold
Well damn, that’s got to be the first “# things you didn’t know about...” video in which I knew nothing before and had actual good content that isn’t just blind speculation. Awesome stuff! :D
Here's a fun fact: did you know that once the dragonborn reaches level 80 the magic anomalies from the college of winterhold main quest line, will in fact have, just as much if not more, health as karstaag
Everyone probably knows this already since the games been out for years, but if you haven't picked a side. Either imperial or storm cloak and you clear out fort greymoore. The next time you show back up to fort greymoore, it will be covered in imperial soldiers. The first time this happened to me. I thought the bandits respawn back, so I started attacking not knowing the imperial empire moved in. 🙃
Fun fact: when you use console commands to teleport to Iraleth (The jaral’s captain of the guard) it’ll teleport you to the skeleton. I discovered this when she disappeared from my game and I gave up searching for her, so I used console commands to take me to her and it just took me to the skeleton under the bridge.
Gaming Wolf pretty sure maven has that set up so she can just invoke it whenever she needs someone hit. Black Sacrament doesn’t state the body has to be a new one each hit.
They don’t tell you about the Whitetun Syphilis outbreak during Suns Dawn in 4E200. Lasted all the way until Frostfall. The Yarl eventually had all infected executed and any documentation burned. Some of the infected had managed to escape and they started a group what is know as the Afflicted.
