Those shadowmarks are freaking useless. Skyrim aren't random about npcs at all, so we all know who is who. And if not, you can simply enter during daytime as a guest and take a look. Those marks would only make sense if it would be randomly generated world, like Daggerfall.

There is a "Thieves Cache" shadowmark in the dungeon for the Eye of the Falmer mission, that seems to be a decoy. You find it by walking atop a large Dwemer pipe. I can find no loot container anywhere near it, and the position exposes you to ranged attack from below.

Its part of a quest that you only get around lvl 55 or higher don't reamber. But you can't become the leader. You have to do it first. If you become leader you send new thieves to do it. And you won't be able two.

Another tip, if you ever get something of value taken cause it was stolen it will be put in the "Evidence" Chest in the hold where you were arrested. If you have completed some quest for the Jarl you can usually search the chest without it being marked "Steal From".

The bridge in whiterun is a safe place to hide during the battle of whiterun when you first enter the city if you hide here for a couple of minutes you can actually fast travel to windhelm and speak to Ulfric and he will congratulate you on the battle and whiterun won't show any effects of the battle other than a new jarl and stormcloaks as town guards

I found a loot cache shadowmark on one of the theives guild quests when you go to kill Mercer Frey. At one point, you walk up onto some pipes if you are sneaking past the Falmer, and its at the end, but there is no chest, barrel, or anything or the sorts nearby, or at least from what I could see.
