@@Loregasmo how do you know that?? What if what your saying is OPPOSITE and that dude got it from THIS dude? Stfu dummy he couldve thought of that not everybody has to listen to someone else to come up with the same ideas or sayings as someone else lmao
Milwaukee Wi, I want to say thank you, I seen my uncle on this video for the first time in decades! Thank U! I been watching slab city videos for years and today I finally seen him. To hear him say Nerd just brought me to tears!! 33rd & north ave. Uncle No Matter What I Love You & Know you’re still alive!!
Guys like him really make me rethink what success even means. He has nothing, but he’s living life and genuinely happy. Meanwhile I’m on a path of conventional “success”; am in college but absolutely miserable. Idk who’s really winning here
“I’ve gone to hell, and the devil told me eat some black cherry Mike’s hard lemonade and I felt myself come back to life”. At 15:00 😂😂😂😂 omg that’s the best line EVER 😂😂😂😂
I have a “papa cat” in my life. he was a white, 52 yr old, north carolinian man that got the nickname “gringo” ,,having worked on a masonry crew full of Mexicans. after suffering a heart attack, gringo, legally named “mark”, was kicked off the crew. with homelessness being the alternative, my father allowed him to move into my house that was at the time the residence of 6-10 teenage-young adult men. gringo offered us loads and loads of wisdom, but it was always spoken in backwards riddles as if he was a character from “Alice in wonderland”. Some things he would say were obviously the ramblings of a heavily drunk, ex-crack addicted, psychosis having, war veteran. But he did give me and all my brothers/friends a unique perspective on life.
As soon as he said " yeah thats why i usually charge people a 100 bucks for an interview" tommy whats like welp.... "thanks for showing us around" lmaoo
LIKE ALWAYS… Tommy G managed to create more content about people who chose not to follow society’s “norm” and did it in a educational manner without shaming or degrading these individuals. Consistently Tommy G is able to give us all a inside look of people that are homeless , drug addicted, law-breaking, and sometimes dangerous.. all while not putting people down or exploiting them in a negative manner.. Thank you Tommy G for being such the compassionate, nonjudgmental guy that you are! The world would be a better place if more people had a good heart like you.
This is an awesome example of unbiased reporting. It's extremely rare. Most do everything to search out the problems and perpetuate them or they promote the problems then cry when they don't profit. No one deserves to make a profit off other people who are suffering.
I can’t wait to grow up and open a paintball stadium, become an engineer and develop critical AI knowledge and move out to Slab City to lend my hand in the fight against injustice. Ignore the r*pe and murder stuff people might say tho, that part isn’t true.
Yeah he lied about everything which means that he lied about the fact that he didnt murder or rape anybody also those hints he gave "you died, they died, i lived" was weird, couldnt be more of a serial killer
He said spin ping pong club which there actually is one in Milwaukee and there is a actress named Susan Sarandon that started the company and the first one out of New York was in Milwaukee so he might not be as much of a character as people think he is because that'd be quite a random fact to know and especially to immediately think of it as soon as Tommy said Milwaukee.
@@fleekwoodmatt4316 That’s a funny name I like it. Also, kinda sounds a little too specific of a fact almost like it could be part of some story that he tells to keep people off his trail
the old head you interviewed from the mill is an urban legend lmfao, he been in a couple music videos and used to always be dancing near north nd sherman. crazy you saw him.
From seeing the old vice doc and a few others it’s crazy to see the evolution and build up they’ve done to slab city it’s impressive and highly impressive
Ive watched MANY Slab City videos and just gotta say this one is by far the BEST!! You did an excellent job capturing the spirit of the place and portrayed the people in a realistic, non sensationalized way.. Grear job!❤
i love what you do with these documentaries and you deserve so much more recognition Tommy. this is exactly what i want to do next year when i graduate
@@WhuDhat i guess so. travel places and just get to know people. kinda just give them the stand and see what stories people have to tell. i think that’s what’s the about this world. everyone has a different story and i just wanna be apart of it!
Aww you met DNA! They are such a sweet person. Incredibly talented artist! Too bad you missed out seeing their art down near the south of town. I stayed in slab city during pandemic for a month or so. It truly is a mixed bag. There’s a few things of note. The history of Slab city is interesting! It was a WWII military base, then in was a bomb testing zone then it was garbage dump now it is what is today. Slab city is incredibly special place. I felt safe if you can imagine, and I am a woman in her thirties.
I know the dad meant well towards the end but I can't help but feel like raising a younger kid in Slab City is horribly irresponsible parenting, no matter the financial situation
Wow you interviewed Luis. He is one of the slabs most troubled souls. He ain't lying either. He has been accused if murder and all kinds of other crazy stuff. He is one of those Manson types. Looks for people down on their luck. Gives them help, then manipulates and controls them. Women have said some crazy things about him. Just be careful. He is a leach.
“But what’s interesting about an introvert is once you get em talking, it’s hard to get them not to talk” that is so true and great video again tommy g best journalist out there rtn, stay safe
Always puttin out them gems Tommy!! I really like Slab City and met many incredible people from all walks of life, been out there over handful of times.. Such lovely an vibrant people. We’ll usually bring some goods for them, water, food and a little bit of cash. Love hangin with the folks and mainly to skate the gritty DIY skate spot, every time our friends and i make a trip back out there, there’s always new stuff and obstacles added into that gritty skate spot or being built as we show up, it’s sick! And ads so much more flavor into out clips we end up filming. Never a dull moment there!! 👊
How many black people are in Slab City? How do you make money to live out there? How you get food? Where is there to live out there? Hotels? Apartments? What the cost of living like?
Are you taking up one of those slots? I'm not being critical and I'm just genuinely interested and I have a few more related questions for someone that had. I asked because your comment only makes sense from the position of a person who's taking advantage of the program used to sarcastically imply these people won't.
It is absolute bullcrap that Tommy doesn't have millions and millions of subscribers. This is some of the best content on RU-vid. It's not just one good video and then a bunch of shit ones. The content/videos is always awesome and very well done.
@@jjcoola998 I wasn't referring to Tommy's financial situation. I was referring to how many subs he has versus how many he deserves to have. RU-vid doesn't give his channel the push it deserves. That's all I was saying. Have a great day bro.
I agree. I came across him from looking at another channel abiut homelessness in Arizona and Tommy’s vid was a suggestion video and I seen the video subscribed and been watching his stuff ever since. Tommy is such a great interviewer. He has the ability to talk to literally all kinds of ppl from diff walks of life and be accepted by them all. Not everyone can do that. That’s a gift. I hope to see him continue to grow and get bigger ❤ seems like a great dude with a great personality!
This is about ten thousanth video done on slab city.Hes just doing video of what others have done. You here them say people show up with cameras EVERY DAY.Not original.
I stumbled across your account by searching for vids on Baltimore. I live in Baltimore City (Eastside) one of your more recent vids you were primarily West Side and it was such a well done video. As is this one and the other 5+ I have watched this morning. These are better than the docu series & whatnot on Netflix and Hulu. Keep doing what you are doing man. Incredible work! I’m going to put you on to everyone I know! We love our city here in Baltimore baby! Do you have tiktok?
Perfectly stated at the end… be kind, be thoughtful, listen to each other. We have a lot to learn. As people we can be so much better by doing those things and not trying to talk over one another. ✌️
Another banger video!!! Thank you for what you do Tommy. You have a wonderful message and a knack for finding the best in people. Keep up your good work 🤞
Very well done. So right about Introverts and talking. John Muir obviously was more comfortable alone in the Mountains, but it was also reported that if he was around a campfire with others? No one could get a word in.
I worked at SPiN in Milwaukee from the open for a number of years before I moved west. I remember when Susan visited, she was part owner. One of our chefs saved half of the meal she ate to try and sell on eBay lol.
California Ponderosa Cook here, just saying, Kristina and I waited for this video to drop when Tommy G filmed us. Sadly, they missed schnitzel night on Sunday.
it was severely overedited, making it unwatchable. horrible color grading excessive jump cuts irrelevant use of B-roll, not emphasizing the right shots. very sloppy editing job imo. would be better suit for a rap tour video or something, not a vlog.
I could listen to Dude answer questions all day. He clearly thought before everything he said, and his comments were intriguing. His voice also slightly reminded me of Vizzinni from the Princess Bride. Guess I'm just a big ol' nerd like POPPA CAT!!
This’ll probably be drowned in the comments and no one will believe me, but that’s actually my Uncle. I won’t give his name out because I respect his privacy and he’s keen on keeping it, but he’s a good dude. He’s essentially a nomad that likes, as he states at family gatherings, “following the sun.” Lots of stories I can share though.
This is very informative. I appreciate the video brotha. I had been watching Tyler , and I’m odd about who I will listen too. I like that your videos are raw and you’re sincerely intrigued. I love it. I was in the army for 5 years then became a firefighter for 13. My passion is helping others. Keep reporting brotha. 🙏 God Bless
The most interesting part about this is the ending and it is something I will always remember. I am a true introvert. I always wondered whether I was, because I'm quite shy but I used to tell my mum every detail about my day
Hey Tommy it’s me karsten from ponderosa kitchen I just wanna say this video was dope man yours is a lot better than me beasts, many people are being rude in the comments and some are nice I just want to clarify that it’s me!
As a Slabber thank you forgiving an honest view by the way Prince isn't a local he got there after me in December 2022 and is gone but there is an interesting story between him, Luis "Daddy" and the burned out minivan and a peace deal brokered by Mojo and I if you ever want to know more about that for yourself.
How many black people are in Slab City? How do you make money to live out there? How you get food? Where is there to live out there? Hotels? Apartments? What the cost of living like?
Louis actually didn’t make that stuff up btw he was a legit engineer before he came to slab city, he’s been in tons of documentaries and if you saw some of the stuff he built in slab city you’d believe it, I’ll post his linkedin in the replies
