i do belive they offcer folks to come there with own truck and fill it to the brim for just 50$ (offcuts), but i guess thats not very attractive to people.

@@raintrunberg2195 I see on one of their price lists that it's $15 for all you can load and haul away. I guess that's not a great revenue stream.

@@andrewalexander9492 You have the price I remember. It is less a revenue stream then a way to get rid of the slabs. At this time of year it is likely that the people who should be thinking "I need to get a bunch of cheap firewood" are saying that is too hot out to bother with firewood!! The business needs it out of the way and some cash so they chipped a bunch of it. The "low cost" firewood users will be along in the cooler weather of Autumn.

@@scottsoper Yeah, I realize that it's something they need to get rid of or they'll just get buried. That said, turning it into the best possible revenue source is good business. Honestly, I'm kinda surprised that people aren't lining up for the "All you can pile on your truck for $15" I'd be interested if I were a local heating with wood. Slab wood isn't great firewood but it isn't bad for the price. An earlier episode showed where they were cutting up the slab wood into firewood lengths and stacking it on pallet for sale. Wonder what happened to that venture.

Years ago (40+?) a mill near Bullard Beach State Park in Oregon would supply slab wood to the campground for free. Locals ruined it by driving in with their pickups and loading up free firewood for use at home.

That’s a win win. The veneer plant needs fuel and you need to manage your slab wood. Rooting for you to make every dollar possible to keep the family business going.

Yeah, I mentioned that kind of danger in the last video. Told them please tie that pretty hair up and wear eye protection too. They could get snagged on a jagged board.

That's why most operators rent. Only harborists which use them weekly buy one for each truck/crew.

By law, it needs to be covered.

@bdickinson6751 As a Trucker I am in agreement with the law but also as a Trucker others pulling loads without a net do not and this is my experience.

It is a matter of time and motion and the important time was the chipper rental time. It was many trailer loads not just one. So messing with the trailer during chipper rental time is not the correct priority. The chips on the ground won't go to the boiler but they will be using those chips for themselves as said in the video. Loading 15 scoops into the trailer did not take much time or fuel. They did the job correctly keeping the correct priority.

All I have ever heard them talk about is their privet land owners. The land owners tell them what they want cut and how.

Saw mills were one of the first ever "Zero waste" businesses.

They were renting the chipper: that is not the time to be fiddling around with the trailer! They had multiple trailer loads.

But blow one load unto the trailer,, the next load onto the ground,, third load goes into the trailer,, etc. Lots of sold camp firewood here in Michigan is slabwood split once. I am very much with use it all,, right down to the bark. I am just lazier than most. I am laaazy. I hate picking up stuff twice.

safety is in the gray matter between the ears of the operator. boss man or em please touch on the topic and talk about the slab scraps l with metal. and walnut junk that might be toxic to animals and other uses. the prit margin is minimal but there is little waste. it is time and money. and not being in compliance to city and state and federal regulations. and wetting the dry chips would not be good to add weight is a no no. bringing chips and sawduct to the logging site reduces the muck on the logging site it also returns nutrients to the forest. not sure if it is cost effective to chip the tops of dead tress. the tops of live trees are food fot wild life. and som dead trees need to be left standing for natures biofriendly nesting boxes. in areas where there is not enough nesting boxes. some slab wood could be used for cuilding nesting boxeas. aas would some of the rounds that are hollow. but like every thing. if you have the time you like to cover the lost opportunity costs. and sometimes you do it for good will. in the dread clar cut mode there are whole tree chippers for woodchip fired boil processers. it depend on time to do and mony for time and equipment. and it all depends on the bottom line. to much cost and not enough revenue means lou are losing money. and some thig a loss of revenue earns good will that is priceless because of intangible returns. it is not a perfect model. do as much good as possible and to measure the profit or.lost. error zon the good side and god will reward you after earth. 1 be safe 2 do as much good wark as you can. (rtry to avoid rework asyou can. but it can happen by mistake. if you make a mistake. lesrn so it does not happen agai. like a pete(peat) and a repeat.(repete). 3 . be happy when you. can. if you are happy and you know clap your hands and you face will smile and you feel good in your heart. in the christian tradition. there is one god with 3 parts a father in heaven and a son who came down from heaven. to be on earth.... and a holy spirit that god sends from heaven to show is blessings on humans like the son of good.. the folks of the hebrew tradition there is one god and god likes thing kosher and you need a rabbi todo certain things in the name of god. no pork nor pork by products start the shabbat at about sunset local time friday night. and it ends saturday night an hour aft sunset local time. the christian god says the sabbath starts after saturday evening church service ends. and sunday sabath services end dwith the last sunday church services. and some Christian services are in the evening on sunday. to many man mde rules. so i say believe in one god divided by 1 or 3 ways take a day off to rest and relax and recharge. chose some gold verses not good and god will possibly forgive us for our mistakes. and follow the 10 commandments and modify the 6rth commandment try not to kill another human being. it cause way to much post traumatic stress disorder. (ptsd). and it is hard on the survivors.
