Hi everyone! This week it's all about the Slant Six Swap! I have a nice old Plymouth Fury that needs a new engine, and a rusted out Monaco that has a really nice one! Can we do it in one day? What could possibly go wrong?
Also: a bit of fun with Agent 4261 (AKA "Details Dave"), car spotter extraordinaire, and an update on our Citroen DS project!
. Thanks also to everyone who subscribed to our channel here, and thanks also for all of your "likes" and comments! If you would like to help keep our channel going, you can get a sticker, hat or a coffee mug at:
www.coldwarmotors.com
Or, please feel free to check out our Patreon page at :
www.Patreon.com/coldwarmotors where we have extra videos and pictures and a bunch of people hanging out and bs-ing about cars!

Such fun working on crusty old cars! I don't believe I have ever seen a clutch disc frozen that tightly. Good that you were able to save enough parts to get the Plymouth back together and running. Either that was your brother, Scott or the runner up in the Scott Newstead look alike contest. Great to see him rolling in the Alberta mud with the rest of you. My compliments to the special effects department on the panorama shot through the gun sight hood ornament while you were positioning the Plymouth in the operating theater for its transplant. I see Frankers paint has worn off. Her next trim should get what ever is left. I'd like to see you paint the Fury 4 door. That's a nice, straight, solid car. I noticed a shortage of jack stands. If you are in need let me know. I would gladly donate a few sets to avoid seeing you or one of the agents get injured during all the efforts. Cheers!

That nylon gear drive for that distributor was a pain in the ass. After not to many years, the nylon would get brittle and the teeth would break off. And the replacement gear from NAPA at the time . . . was metal of course! I had to change out the distributor gear on my grandmother's '68 Dodge Dart back about 1973 when the distributor went out of time and left her stalled on a bridge across town.

That 67 Fury I is drop dead gorgeous! I have a 68 Fury I 2d sedan ex-Nebraska State Patrol unit. Too bad the Monaco is so rusty, at least a lot of parts will be saved from it. Very interesting car, I remember that exact same body style but a red Fury in the early 80:s in Finland. It was also originally a slant six three speed without a vinyl roof but got a 440 4-speed already back then.

Back in '81 my first job after college was dismanteling import wrecks for parts. I had a thick book called Import Car Spotter's Guide. It covered early 1900s up thru the late 1970s. When they'd call from the dealership and say "We have a guy who just bought a right rear door for a Fiat Brava, have it ready when shows up" I'd quickly find it in in the book, and match the car to it. I worked alone in a huge wharehouse with about 50 cars in various states of being stripped. I moved them around with a pallet jack.

I wish it only took a day to swap the 4.0 v6 in my dad's 00 Explorer. We worked on that thing for 3 weekends from Sun up to well after dark. On the gravel driveway on jack stands that didn't go high enough for my fat ass to fit under and work comfortably. Every thing was a fight from start to finish and just when we thought we were done the fuel pump shit the bed with a near full tank of gas. Got that fixed and running and noticed the rear brake lines leaking. Guess it had a right to need a few extras it sat 4 yrs with a blown engine. Nothing is ever easy if I'm involved. Lol

I sold my '71' dodge Dart, after I pulled the engine and sold it separately then junked the car.(with 300,000 miles). Then I had a '78' Plymouth Volari, that I drove to the junk yard with 300,000+ miles on it. Neither engine was ever was rebuilt. I really enjoy your videos. Scott, I have both of those models in the intro. I have the maroon red version of the Citroen SM. It has a yellow interior with a trailer hitch. It is a Matchbox I bought about 50 years ago. The other model I have had for many years. I bought it from a Russian seller on Ebay. it is a Chaika limousine, which is a Russain copy of a '56 Packard. That model is by Diagostini.

First hand tools, then bigger hammers and pry bars, then break out the torch, next cut you see a strategically placed stick of dynamite, Scotts arm lighting the fuse and an off screen yell of,RUN!!! LMAO! unbelievable! Congrats are in order for all of the brave patient agents involved with the saving of the 67 Mopar, thanks for rescuing and saving another worthy piece of automotive such and such!

I remember when a brand new 1977 light green 2 door Monaco was being unloaded at pembina dodge in Winnipeg. I was on a bus going by. I thought the taillights were just like a 77 Monte Carlo.

The slant 6 distributor nylon gears were notorious for breaking. I had a slant 6, 1975 Duster that I kept a spare distributor gear in the glove box along with a spare ballast resistor.

I had to put down the beer. I thought I was seeing two Scotts and two agents. I am happy the Plymouth runs again! A little rust and crust was just a curve ball. Look at it this way, you learned the spin the bell housing trick! Go Canada!👍

Frankers obviously approves of the donor dodge tho. Sitting in there like royalty. " That muffler is pretty mint only one blowout hole" lmao.
