Im relatively new to SC and decided to try out racing in Arena commander not long ago. It's definitely not easy, but once you find a ship you can vibe with, it becomes suprisingly intuitive! I'm still FAR from this good, but my fine piloting skills have increased a lot.

This is the ship that got me interested in racing and I was really hoping it would some day get back to the "golden days" I was told about (newer player so I wasn't around back then). Very glad to see these changes and thinking the Razor will be going away since I really only had it since the M50 wasn't too good. It doesn't need to be the same or better, just competitive so I'm really excited to see this and finally be at a time I can get a little more involved in racing. Even if I don't have sticks yet.
That was amazing! This is the definition of "easy to pick up, difficult to master". My only concerns for the new flight stuff coming down is it may not look as impressive. Right now you can see the artistry & skill in flying.
i would love to see someone do an overlay that shows how much input you are putting into the controls like pitch and yaw but also directional strafe and thrust
if you had to choose, would you consider more important, strafe left/right or jawing in the racing world? I'm already aware that rolling and strafe up are very important, but I'm not aware of this point.
I've done a little racing and like the small ships, I've found each ship has different flight characteristics. The M50 for example really excels at nose up/nose down maneuvers but not side to side.. The 350R has better lateral maneuverability so it really depends on the ship and the environment. Once aerodynamic flight surfaces are implemented that will all change again.
But the M50 sucks!.... 😂 That looks like a hell of a lot of fun! Can't wait to be spinning loads of laps here on the PU, as well as have some high-speed, high-intensity racing here! Yadar is 🔥
