This song is one of there best songs ever and is so underrated :/ I wished they had played this wen I saw them live but I knew that wasn't going to happen. RIP HANNEMAN and thanks for writing this piece of art !

Angel Of Death? Postmortem + Raining Blood? South of Heaven? Silent Scream? Ghosts of War? Seasons in the Abyss? Slayer is the pure essence of Metal, no one can touch their raw viciousness!
They had the black leather and studs. Glam metallers were wearing neon spandex with teased hair. Thrashers wearing jeans and t-shirts, like they just walked off their blue-collar job straight to the gig, didn't happen until '86, '87.
This one and Die By The Sword were the first songs I ever learned on guitar 👌 I think I learned every pre-RIB song except for Captor and Chemical Warfare back in the day

This is one of my favorite Slayer solos by Kerry on the album. Jeff plays the outro solo. They’ve always shared solo duty. Very rarely does only one of them play a solo on a song.

Maybe.. but 1983 is what cemented their unique sound as a band and catipulted them to worldwide popularity. And.. they played in L.A. more then the Bay Area during the 1980s.
I like the theatrics of 80s metal. That kind of make up wasn't really that bad at all, it was actually pretty cool. It just didn't work with the street level thrash movement of the time.
Thats who listened to this in 1983. Literally every band was mid 20s at the oldest down to 14 years old for Death Angel. There were no grey hairs at thrash shows back then like there is now. It was all kids.
IMO Show No Mercy is a far superior album to Hell Awaits. Better, heavier more intricate riffs and solos, better songs too. For me i go from Show no Mercy and skip to to Reign in Blood. My favorite Slayer albums are Show No Mercy, Reign in Blood, Divine Intervention, Christ illusion, a nd World Painted Blood.
@@Stitsel wow I feel dumb. Saw a comment earlier about KK and JH borrowing some stage moves from KKD and GT so I guess I still had Priest on the brain hahaha. I agree though, his chaotic style while not exactly pretty helps build the chaotic hellscape feeling perfectly. Is he the prettiest sounding guitar player? No, and he doesn’t give a fuck. That’s what makes Slayer, well Slayer.
