+Bilal Ahmed Did you ever watch Murder in the First? It came one year before Sleepers and Bacon plays the victim. His crime was stealing $5 and the punishment is nothing compared to what the boys got here. When I watched Sleepers I still couldn't hate him.
I completely agree. I knew right away that he was a sadistic bastard at the very beginning of this scene. He took his sweet ass time coming into the cafeteria and he had a huge grin on his face before he decided to blow the whistle. You could tell that he was thinking "I am going to have so much fun with these boys". Kevin Bacon killed this role and I have never been able to look at him properly again after that. He is for sure great at playing villains.
What's weird is Kevin Bacon is probably one of the nicest guys in Hollywood. He looks like a great guy but plays villains all the time. He is an amazing actor.
In the book, there's more interaction between Shakes and Marlboro (the black guard). One day, Marlboro admits to Shakes he's aware of the corruption and abusive actions of the other guards. When Shakes challenges him for not doing anything to stop it, Marlboro points out that he's the only black guard, and even if he did report the other guards either nobody would listen or give a shit even if they did believe him.
Kevin is such a nice person in real life but always plays the twisted, demented characters, but he said he regretted playing this role. He’s a great actor and is very talented!
Love this movie even though its sad its a great story i love that they still have a strong friendship. Every time i see kevin bacon ugh he makes me sick, he makes me sick all of those guards.
" taking chance " i loved that movie Kevin,B he played a sick fucked up in the head type of role here, I thought to myself this is it who is going to want to cast him in a movie after he did this, but after seeing "taking chance" i didnt expect it to be a movie where they where taking the soldier to his hometown, i thought it was going to be what his life was like leading up to his death, but it was Kevin,B making sure he got "Chance" back home and for a slow movie it was really really really great i mean that movie had got me right in the feels!!!
mistofoles ever read the book? Well in the book he was a lot more decent to the boys he still had a prick side to him. Part in the book when one of the boys was mopping the floor in the hallway the black guard came and talk to him then drop to cigarette on the floor and smashed it out
Who does the closed caption translation for this or any other movie. It's obvious that it is a deaf person using ASL - my daughter is deaf and I am very familiar with ASL but we don't speak like that so please when something is translated into closed caption please do it in normal English language. Someone use their brains I have spent years teaching my two deaf children the English language - where did you get this idea from????
