We have purchased a vehicle and have a couple of friends who are going to do the interior. I just love looking at your videos with your top tips etc. Alll we want to do is to be able to take our 11yr old lab with us. I’m so excited and look forward to seeing more videos….. brilliant x
Excellent demo of the various options for sleeping in a small camper. I don’t think you can beat listening to the rain on canvas when your cosy in bed. My Carol keeps on about trying our pop top but I am definitely a downstairs sleeper so she will be doing that one solo 😁. Looking forward to the next adventure in the wee broon van 👍
Thanks Ken, yes there is something about the gentle drumming of rain on canvas. Our daughter was with us and was going to do the pop top review for us but she didn't want her lockdown hair on display 🤣
We are the opposite. My wife prefers downstairs, I prefer upstairs, which means not having to make up and put back the bed. Having said that we never sleep aparts, so we always end up downstairs.
We love your videos and you have inspired us to by our very own “wee” van the same as yours. Would love to see a video of how you pack it all inside when you are travelling?
Thanks, so glad that you are watching and feeling inspired, tats what we try to do. Good suggestion, yes we must do that either a video on its own or slot into another one if not enough material👍
Greetings from Poland. That was extremely interesting. Three different ways of getting a good nights sleep in a small campervan. Alternatives are always useful especially when you need your own space. A wonderful video with a superb commentary. See you again soon
My tip for you.. Don't fold the duvet before compressing it.. Just stuff it into the sack then compress.. You'll save time and it works more efficiently... I learnt that a long time ago with down filled sleeping bags..
Brilliant video, full of practical ideas, just what we’ve been looking for! Do you have links to the bag used for the duvet? Any other videos on your storage solutions for clothing, food/cooking items, portaloo etc would be also be welcomed. We really enjoy following your adventures, we’re off on our first trip this week, should be quite a learning curve! 😆 Stay safe 😊

Thanks for your kind words and yes will look to do something along these lines.
Lovely blowup awning. Xxx we have a set time to set up bed its only time i go to bed early. We watch tv on our tablet. Its a pain going to toilet once your in bed!!😂😂😂 what awning is it a vango aswell? Love the inner tent . Proper glamping watched this after you got your new van. Cool pop top.❤❤❤ liz
Hello, really great video, many thanks! Maybe you have noted it somewhere, but could you please advise the name of the company that did your conversion and/or who sold you the camper van?
very informative thanks. Could you give more details of mattress please.Does it get rid of lumps and bumps, joins etc of seats? Is it memory foam? Made to measure? Where available? Price? Thanks
We got it from Jonic jonic-uk.co.uk/ and it is memory foam made to order. Our seats convert to the bed with really no gaps or lumps and bumps but I would expect it would counteract these.
Great videos, really enjoying them. We found you when we began to think about moving from caravan to campervan. Quick question, Peter Rosenthal's review said the lower bed was 6' 2" by 3' 7" narrowing to 3'. Can you please confirm just how big the lower bed is and can you both use it comfortably at the same time. Many Thanks
Hi Lillian, glad you found us. Our measurements for the bed are: Lower bed 1.88 m x 1.17m (6ft 2 x 3ft 10) Thats the widest part. We both sleep in it comfortably with plenty of room for us. Best regards Mike
Do you have a list of the things that you've bought and are using? I may have just missed it but I'm sure manufacturers and retailers would be very pleased if you advertised some of their products when you've liked them. I'm just about to start my adventures, picking up our van on Tuesday and going off for two nights to try it out. Enjoy your videos, thank you.
Thanks Jen, sorry we don't have a list, we just like to show what we are using and its quite easy to google them and find the best deals rather than us pointing towards a particular retailer, but thanks for that lovely feedback and wishing you every success in your new van, and hope you have many adventures.
Hi there. Firstly, your video blogs are great, and am loving the tips. I’ve just bought my proace camper, and am collecting in June. I have a quick question regarding the mattress topper you bought from Jonic. I know you mention it was 7mm thick, but what was the width and length please? Thanks, Sean
We have a little van being built, a Ford Transit custom and we also have a miniature labradoodle. The one thing we were really keen to hear on this is where does Kiera sleep?
When we park up, the front passenger seat swivels round and at night we pull it forward making the foot well area larger and her bed goes in there. She has plenty of room in there. Of course, we get jumped on in the morning and she snuggles in with us for 10 mins before we get up.
@@MikeandTriciaOotnAboot brilliant thank you. We put our dog Willow in the same place but don’t yet have a swivel seat so it’s a bit tight . Your idea hadn’t occurred to me so that’s really useful to know. We subscribed today too 😀
Great video for different sleeping options. I have a Vango Cove II awning and purchased the inner Vango clip in blackout bedroom. It doesn’t have any poles which I prefer not to have. It looks like yours is a larger Vango awning than the Cove. I wonder if yours has clips for the blackout bedroom?
I suppose its like a tent having an inner compartment for sleeping. I suppose you could just sleep in the awning, the main advantage of the inner would be to keep bugs out, especially midges in Scotland!
You vidio was very interesting. My bed in side my camper is just right for me but my husband is not keen on how close he is to the roof as he is a lot bigger than me. We have a awning and he is going to sleep in there. We are looking for a bigger awning for when we all go away as we have 5 dogs. We have just sold our old caravan and looking for ideas for fitting all 7 off us in a small campervan.
@@MikeandTriciaOotnAboot we had a really big one for the caravan, and we are missing not having it. mark and all the dogs dont come out with me much but we do need something for when they do. I mostley go hiking with one or 2 dogs and the old 3 stay with mark.
Hi we love your videos, very well made, entertaining and informative, thank you. Wonder if you have considered doing a van loading video, with all your stuff, both of you and a dog must be like a game of Jenga !☺️
Hi Paul, yes it is a bit like that but most of the stuff we now keep in the van so just clothes, clean bedding and food to load. Top 10 campervan essentials coming later today or Sunday.
Having watched all the videos and im planning on a camper with pop top and was looking at the Proace but my size and weight means no sleeping up top so the seat will be the only bed . Watching your first video when you walked around and inside review i noticed that when the bed out fully there is little gap between the front seats meaning that the fridge is not accessible neither is the toilet and there does not appear to be enough room between the seat and bed for the loo to be out , is that the case ??
@@MikeandTriciaOotnAboot Yes i find that Tring Brewery's 3L beer container make a perfrect bottle once the contents has been drunk :) Maybe a LWB Proace would have the space? I just dont like the look of the LWB version and also grounding could be an issue as quite low to the ground. The VW & Proace have similar internal dimensions, unless VW bed is shorter meaning more space for loo and fridge?
Nice video, nice van. Why bother with the interior bedroom, just sleep in the awning? Less to put up and carry. Where did you get the mosquito net? I made one but it is a bit Mickey Mouse.
Can I please ask what you use for a mattress topper. We have a Toyota campervan too and find the seats very hard to sleep on despite a fairly thick mattress topper. Thanks in advance
One reason to get the portable toilet is for night use. So how do you gain access to and use the toilet when the downstairs bed is occupied by your other half?
With great difficulty🤣. Actually we are both morning people for no 2's. So through the night use bottles and she wee (Trish that is, I have my own built in attachment).
Hi Sharon, generally we don't sleep in the pop top, just occasionally if one of us needs a nap during the day then its a handy option. It would be possible to sleep up there in winter if we had the external rainbow screen on, but it would still be cold and in extreme cold we would bring the pop top down and sleep downstairs which is the most cozy option. 👍🐾💕
@@MikeandTriciaOotnAboot Ahhhh, no worries, not sure if we get this when we get our van so will wait and see..... ! thanks for your prompt response and your advice and videos have been most useful :)
That's the trouble with these side cupboard campervans with rock n roll beds, the bed is just not wide enough. A good night sleep is most important and fighting for side space with your partner isn't good. Prefer full widthvan without the cupboards.
I thought I wouldnt either - in our similar Alphard I thought I would never sleep in the bed given we have a super king at home, but I find it fine, somehow it is so cosy, maybe we are just tired from the frsand also on ours there is a gap under the shelf on one side so my upper body has some nice extra space.
Thank you for sharing this - really interesting. Would you say the “upstairs” would be too small for two adults to sleep? And does the mattress topper you get with the camper for upstairs would fit on the downstairs bed ok?
I would say that if two small slim adults then it would be OK to sleep in pop top. The mattress in there can be used on the downstairs bed but we find its not comfortable enough - the downstairs bed is very firm which is why we went for the thicker mattress.
Wee Broon Van thank you that’s really helpful. I love how Trisha has used duvet covers on the matress toppers and the eleastic to help keep it rolled up. Thank you for sharing it’s great to be able to get tips and ideas like this.
We just pull the top mattress down and use it on the downstairs bed. We find it really comfortable, but we're used to a firm mattress at home. It also means packing up in the morning is really quick, just feed the mattress back into the roof.
@@user-xu9di2pn2r we tried that at first, but our bed is solid and with the pop top mattress it still feels like sleeping on the floor, so its a pain taking the big one, but anything for a good sleep 😴
I don't understand WHY you would need tent within a tent 4 extra sleeping??? I would put a small pop up one for the toilet and waste all that additional living space.
Hi Leila, the inner tent can come down during the day for extra living space. We had 2 guests staying for a few days and used the inner tent and pop top for the extra 2 beds.
