Puyo generally has an advantage, but tetris has no speed limit. This means that at higher levels, it's possible for tetris to just play so fast that the puyo can't put up much of any viable response.
Puyo at advantage at low level. Mid to high level is even. At the highest level Tetris at advantage due to it having more options and room for speed. Cheers, mate.
Shannon Blake Yeah, but they only do combos of 2-4, nothing too huge. They’re playing Puyo as Tetris, with rapid attacks to disrupt the opponent, but Puyo needs a heavy blow to end a match reliably. Dude’s been playing other Puyos forever I think, he plays that way at least. Pretty impressive tho.
@@bartdude82 No he wasn't relying on luck. This is what puyo players do against high lvl tetris players or all clear starts against other puyo players. This is so when the get a massive amount of garbage they pop the trigger put at the top to lead into at most 4-5. TL;DR he wasn't mindlessly playing he knew what he was doing.
I had a long reply but deleted it because this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yUjI6nIseac.html Basically Wumbo sents the same EXACT thing. A B2B tetris and a B2B T-Spin double. Only difference is that Shiro sends a 4-4-4 to clear all but 3 blocks of garbage. Here, we had a chain of 5-4-6, which is clearly not the same level as a 4-4-4. Granted, Shiro did send a 5 link at the end to delete the last 3 blocks and sent 4 lines of garbage to Wumbo. But these two things show how important the puyo count is in your chains to send garbage. Having basic 4-4-4's won't save you from much unless you clear a lot in chaining. If Shiro sent a 4-4-4-4, he might have sent 1-2 less lines of garbage than what he did. puyonexus.com/wiki/Scoring Give this a read, as it's pretty relevant since Puyo uses Tsu in this game.
@@jimothyjimothy1 I'm going to stop you right there. took me 6 months to reliably t-spin when I first started playing tetris. first 10 minutes into practicing puyo and I did a 4chain.
I don't understand the garbage rates between Puyo and Tetris. A Tetris can be nearly fully offset with just a 2-Chain, but there is no possible way to offset a 25-combo with even the biggest of chains. It makes no sense at all. It also seems that when playing Tetris against a CPU, they have more firepower than you do. For example, a Tetris barely deters their progress, plus, the garbage just goes under all the Tetriminos, whereas in Puyo Puyo, the garbage covers the Puyos, meaning that the chain you were building is most likely entirely buried. Also, both Puyo Puyo and Tetris allow the player to move the Puyo/Tetrimino instantly to the ghost piece. This is called a Quick Drop for Puyo Puyo, and a Hard Drop for Tetris. However, Quick Drop is turned off by default for Puyo Puyo except for Tiny Puyo, Fusion, and Party. Using a Quick Drop doesn't give you points, where a Hard Drop does. This doesn't seem very important, except for the fact that Party mode is all about gaining points. The Quick Drop isn't even instant. There's a slight pause after using one, and another pause if a Puyo drops off of another one, where in Tetris, after using a Hard Drop, the next Tetrimino is instantly obtainable, unless lines are scored. So I'll say that while Sega tried to make Puyo Puyo and Tetris equal, they are far from equal. Yeah, PPT is a great game, but there are just way too many flaws in it.
Ignored =/= hated. I didn’t even know what Puyo was until this game and I’ve been playing Tetris for a decade at least. I imagine it’s similar for most people who got this
Wumbo have you thought of vsing shirobrawl? Btw I'm sure many have said this but ur relentless with ur B2b triple double t spins and tetrises, it's actually scary
Jin really? Who is this friend?... personally I think Shiro is amazing so like I don't doubt his skills. That's why I thought it would be awesome to have both of them play. To me I think Shiro is one of the best puyo players
Here's an example from a stream... There are many many more vs shiro games in my streams but someone timestamped this one- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yUjI6nIseac.htmlh35m30s
Wumbotize thank you soo much!!! :) I watched it straight away and damn it was a neck and neck match! 1 win for wumbo and one for Shiro. Like holy u had a couple misdrops(or so it seemed to me) but u came back like a bloody God, and like I know it's rare for u to have long single matches but dang does that show how good Shiro is at puyo. And again... from watching that highlight I can only remember how much of a God u are at tetris and just how good Shiro is at puyo. U guys r crazy lol
Maybe they could make it so that the garbage that puyo recives, doesn't stop the puyo player from moving, so that they can defend faster (aka. Make tetris garbage hard drop)
If they did that then they would prolly have to remove the x2 strength puyo has but that does sound like a nice idea to deal with Tetris. I guess a game like puyo just wasn't made to deal with Tetris.
CowboyJoseph64 Won't that make it unfair for the tetris side now? Getting hit hard enough with trash lines will make it harder to recover and in the time you manage to clear most of it, the puyo side has a 6-7 chain waiting for you.
T-Spin doubles can be set up faster than a Tetris, and send just as much garbage to the opponent. Thus one who can consistently lauch T-Spins will be able to do damage more efficiently.
Is it worth doing the tspins over tetrises because with a Tetris you can hard drop it and tspins require soft drops which take a significant amount more time.
T Spins and Tetris send the same amount of garbage, but T Spins are easier to set up. The soft drop is just a price to pay for a quick way to end the game
@@ABC-ju7it **OR** -People who think the "Tetris is at a slight disadvantage" is actually true and set-in-stone simply because IGN's review mentioned it.
I think your Japanese friend is broken. You were winning for the majority of the time in the entirety of the first match, despite being at a slight disadvantage. Contact your local weeb supplier and ask for a replacement, they do free trade-ins for 20$, so there’s no reason not to! It’s FREE!
To me someone who hasn’t played the game it looks like puyo puyo normally loses to Tetris but please tell me if he’s just that good or Tetris really wins
