@@AmrothPalantir That's better for such situation cause haldex may completely lock itself. Torsen can't. Besides that makes Q2 awd system quite similar to Renegade.
I dunno where you live but the Audi Q2 is priced similarly to the Jeep renegade like 2k $ difference, in addition you pay for power,handling,driving,comfort,technology,safety...it is not about AWD only.
@Don Trump LOL, you are a troll at best, perhaps you should read my entire comments with the previous person. And if it makes you feel better that I said AWD instead of 4x4 for a Jeep congrats you have achieved your life goals now fuck off.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers Thank you! Yes I am between those two, but I cannot find a good test for the AWD of the Ecosport.. It would be great if you can make it!
duszaniespokojna - 4x4 tests on rollers Damn 😕 Well , I hope you can find someone, or somebody sees this comment and volunteers .. Thank you for trying anyway!
Wow jeep for the very clear win. I thought this was going to be an all bow to Audi quattro. That's going to make the fan boys mad. Just wait there will be a thousand people but but but...
I was going to be mad if my jeep renegade didnt pass the 3 roller test. Looks like it destroyed this test in mud mode. I was thinking of trading it for a kia sorento or Ford Edge. Have you tested the Ford Edge? I seen the kia sorento and it looked like it passed the 3 roller test but somebody said it overheats.
Ford Edge wasn't tested yet. When it comes to Sorento - there are comments that system switches to fwd after some slippage due to fault in software, not due to overheating.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers hmmmm this is something to think about then. I subscribed to you, I like watching your tests. I see that they still sell Suzuki in your country. Suzuki pulled out of the USA years ago and it's a shame too because my dad had one and it was awesome. So what country you from?
I had a feeling the jeep was going to be better however i was hoping the more expensive Audi would provide a better 4x4 system i guess it's just a name brand.
c’è da dire che la jeep ha comunque nel dna il suo nome, quindi è ovvio che nelle situazione toste va meglio, l’Audi non è concepita per situazioni difficili..
RyRy Wags I live in Michigan and have driven my renegade through 10” snow drifts on multiple occasions with no issues... I’m not sure what you consider “deep snow”, but the renegade can cost through 10 plus inches of snow effortlessly!!
If you do this test on a hill or slightly raisen ground, then you will see which 4wd system is better. All system will work well on flat surface, but on slightly incline , results will be different
Test on these rollers is hard enough. They are not flat, wheels sit deep inside so car must climb up like on curb. That's harder than tests on roller ramps etc.
I had a Jeep Renegade Trailhawk diesel. Its AWD system was amazing in deep snow when worked. However, it was just broken due to a well-known rear power unit issue during the most of my ownership (just 9 months). I got it fixed under warranty and happily sold the vehicle. All in all, this Jeep is great to rent, but bad to own.
Hi Stepan, I am thinking of buying the Renegade. Can you elaborate a bit on the bad to own part? Just to understand where I am getting my self into...thanks man😉.
Wow!! I cannot believe it. The Renegade did amazing. The Audi was pathetic. The driver was even turning the steering wheel side to side. He shouldn’t do that.
Najnowszy xDrive i najnowsze Quattro (Ultra) to bardzo konkurencyjne systemy, choć o innej charakterystyce, pomimo współdzielenia niektórych podzespołów.
The Jeep has an offroad bias, the Audi is an on road AWD sytem. It's not designed for offroad performance, it's designed for on road handling. It's not an apples to apples comparison.
Both are fwd based, both are using multiplate clutch-pack to power rear axle. Jeeps has onroad modes like Auto and Sport, it even has fully disconnecting driveshaft for fuel efficiency.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers That's not the point. Being able to pull off rollers says nothing about the vehicles road handling characteristics. I have a LR Defender with mechanical diff lock and an Audi Q3 with Haldex AWD. Just because they are both FWD does not make them the same and it would be nonsensical to compare them.
@@Martyntd5 I was referring to mechanical layouts of both systems and onroad modes. Obviously Jeep is more offroad by definition but there's nothing unique in Renegade, it's on-demand awd system, just like haldex. It's just better tuned for offroad situations, better than Q3 and better than any other Audi, including the ones equipped with offroad mode. The problem is that under serious load it can work great but only for a short period of time... Edit: Forgot to mention - Defender is not fwd based.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers I can tell you now that both the Jeep and the Audi would 'beat' my Defender on the rollers, because the defender only has one mechanical locker on the central differential and no traction control. Does that mean the Audi or the Jeep would be a 'better' 4x4? The answer is it depends. On road the traction control systems of the audi and Jeep would outperform the Defender in road handling all day long, but offroad the Defender would leave them both in the dust in spite of the fact it has open axle differentials. You cant just compare 4WD systems without considering the context in which they were designed to perform. In your roller test, the Jeep looks to be the 'better' AWD system, but the reality is that on the road, in all weather conditions, the Audi would wipe the floor with it. You've simplified it down to the point of nonsense and concluded that the Jeep is a better offroader than the Audi ....well obviously.
@@Martyntd5 Renegade is not any offroader. It's a small suv with on demand awd system, just like Q2. They both aren't even awd by default, they are basically fwd cars with an extra paid option of awd prothesis. If I compared Q2 with with Jimny - that would be nonsense. But here we have two endorsement city cars from B class. The fact that Audi is much better on the road doesn't come from awd system but from everything - it's an Audi.
I take my wee Renegade off road all the time, it does just fine 🚙✨!!! Only thing it needed where way better tires that are actually for off road use!!!
Technically the Audi is awd because it doesn’t have a 2 range transfer case while the Jeep has full time 4x4 because it does have 2 ranges and in addition it can completely lock the front and rear together. Like a part time system but using clutches instead of a chain. So there are differences but Audi likes to act like they’re the best
@@eman7579 No, that's not correct. Renegade has very similar system to Q2, rear wheels are powered by clutch-pack. Renegade can disengage the driveshaft to save fuel and that is main difference. It doesn't have an option to lock both axles, it doesn't have two ranges, it doesn't have full time 4x4.
While standing still, the Audi looks twice as fast and twice as valuable just from the outer design and paintjob/rims. This is a lifestyle SUV that people confuse with a 4x4, it is a city allwheeler. The rims tell it all. Get real and use something else for comparison. I take the Audi, also for it's inside, any day.
' oh no... not important wheel drive from 1 to 3... what if big accident car is a fully destroy and throw in impound junkyard... not worth... big storm windy or flood water or fire whatever... still not important 1 to 3 wheels... if the transmission is damage or NO good motor... not worth... too much overcurrency, DMV tag, insurance
Test falsificato. Poco professionale. Sulla Jeep si accelera molto lentamente e i dispositivi ci mettono di più ad entrare in azione. Sull'Audi l accelerata brusca fa lavorare meglio l'Esp.
Jeep driver was a little bit late with accelerator, that's why wheels were spinning free due to torque converter. You can hear when he presses accelerator pedal.
