Both cars are very popular here in the Dolomites mountains, Italy. Both are very good on the snow, the Panda is more effective in off-road. Both smart and practical cars.
Suzuki and Fiat collaborated in producing the SX4/Seidici. Although it didn't look much like an off-roader, it was very capable, due to the great knowledge both companies have in making efficient small offroad vehicles.
@@kyleb5518 That's wrong. The diesel engines were made by Fiat and the petrol engines by Suzuki. This said, both companies used the same powertrains for their respective cars in both petrol and diesel versions
The Ignis is such a nice little car - I love it! We got a 2017 allgrip and it did such a great job last winter!! We (West Germany) had not had that much snow and for so long in many years and it really showed what it's capable of. I felt absolutely safe the whole time while most other cars where sliding around like crazy. And it was a lot of fun too! I like it and would buy it again without a blink of an eye - I wouldn't mind a few more horses, but it's still fun!
@@thedreamer2906 la panda vecchia si ferma già con un rullo dietro ed uno davanti, non ha l'elettronica che l'aiuta quindi in questa prova rimarresti parecchio deluso
Excellent comparison, as always. In a couple of cases, the Ignis electronics reacted faster, but I still think the Panda is more effective in light off-roading. A similar test would be possible with a Freelander 2 against a Q5 or an X3 or maybe a Rav4. Thanks.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers I think I've seen all your videos, I find them very interesting. I was specifically interested in the Freelander 2, still congratulations anyway.
Ive had the Panda 4x4 and it was astonishing off road. It wades deep, took it through sand, mud, streams, always got me through plus it had underbody protection as standard. For more on road requirement in bad weather I would say the Ignis would be a better choice, and its far more economical as well. The twinair is not brilliant on fuel.
@@loneokami6560 I had the diesel version and although it was economical, the gearing was appalling so that it sat at really silly high revs at 70mph. Was on about 3.5 to 4K, the noise was awful.
Even if the Fiat Panda 4x4 passes the last test, I am a little disappointed. The traction control doesn't seem to be very active. Finally, the Ignis with its simple viscous coupling seems almost as effective. I have the impression that the traction control has a more precise operation.
@@maxreimann8143 Even if the designs of these 2 transmissions are not so far apart, there are big technical differences. But I am more "impressed" by the efficiency of the Ignis transmission despite its simplicity and the use of a "central" viscous coupling to transfer the torque to the rear, a system that doesn't have a good reputation, a reputation that isn't totally justified.
Unbelievable...after many years the Panda still competent and more effective compared to the new cars like the Ignis. What a brilliant machine is this Panda.
Had both from new, 2020 Ignis AllGrip and 2016 Panda Twinair 4x4. I still have the Panda, it is better in any department. Pros: more solid feeling car overall, steering precision and brakes ( 4x disc brakes) are miles ahead of Ignis, more comfort at motorway speed ( windshield has accoustic glass for noise insulation), gearbox better and more precise, twinair engine fun and punchy - you can pass cars with ease even in 4th and 5th gear. Sorry, I love the looks of the Suzuki but on the road it feels flimsy and very outdated dinamically : mushy brakes, vague steering and a very.... 1990's overall feeling of driving it.
Apart from other features, Ignis has better dynamics. Better 0-60 acceleration, better 0-100 acceleration, better 60-100 acceleration, better 80-120 acceleration. Of course you have to use lower gear for these results, that's not turbocharged engine.
@Alfred Wedmore Yes, that's correct. However even at lower rpm this engine is doing quite well, here are my tests of Ignis dynamics: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sdZibE5ggf0.html
Yes, Ignis has All Grip Auto (based on viscous coupling), Vitara/S-Cross have All Grip Select (based on electronically controlled electromagnetic coupling).
But that doesn't explain why three wheels are spinning fast while single wheel stays stationary. Different algorithm of "esp" or whatever that system is called, I suppose
@@ValKomarov The viscous coupling cannot transfer as much torque as a multi plate clutch. I think a more aggressive ESP tuning would result in both rear wheels stopping.
Panda twinair engine has massive turbo lag and sounds like a bag of spanners under load. Also ultra low 1st gear makes sense for a 4x4 in crawler mode but otherwise means you run out of revs too soon when moving off.
Your statement is completely false, the Twinair engine is a marvel and performs better than many 3 cylinder turbo engines I had driven. At 130km/h I get 70db in my Panda 4x4 twinair, get your homework done or leave the comment section.
@@bogdanbosoi1483 I am just saying what I found on my test drive + facts. The noise I am talking about is under load. On top of that the ride really is not that great considering it has a raised ride height. Also this is the engine that destroyed public confidence in official fuel economy standards. That is maybe it's greatest achievement.
@@jamescaley9942 Bro it's just as efficienct as any other engine in other city cars. Computer says I'm averaging 18.5km/l, I calculated it and it's 17.4km/l, which in hilly area and traffic is very good.
1) Ιgnis 4Χ4 M13A 2005 ,can not start uphill because 1st gear (every 3-4 years I change the clutch) is too long Vs all fiat have 1st gear ,short, never change clutch. 2) fiat panda 0,9 have 6 speed gearbox.
@@bogdanbosoi1483 correct. I had a twinair panda and it was refined and relaxed at motorway speeds. There is an unusual sensation when accelerating in each gear, a bit of nothing then a big surge but you get used to it. Three cylinder turbos are by and large awful. Ive had a few and the NA versions had more linear acceleration. Only exception is BMW and Mini with the twin scroll turbo which eradicates the lag.
Ignis never had lock function cause it is using viscous coupling. Sedici/SX4 use electromagnetic coupling which can be locked for front/rear torque distribution.
I'm italian, for me the ignis is better, the panda is the same like 10 years ago. The ignis have better interior and engine, good crash test results and adas that can help you drive safe. Is a clever little car and it cost like the panda
On what planet is Ignis better? I had both from new and Ignis feels very outdated in every aspect: interior space, steering, brakes, noise level at speed. Panda is a much better car.
@@bogdanbosoi1483 panda is from 2012, ignis 2016 and have adas and very nice features for safety, also a better engine. the panda inside don't have a lot of space also it cost too much and rear can have only manual windows
All discontinued in 2017. No replacement. The current Ford transit connect can be specced in 4wd but is very expensive. A Dacia Duster with the back seats removed is the only cheap option.
Good day.. I have some comments for this test 1) the Ignis have choice to take off ESP that’s give more torque in the weels 2) in last test of this video the panda needs 20sec to pass but Ignis only 8 sec keep the video. 3) I thing the Ignis with off ESP pass the last test very quickly because in all tests exempt the last is more quickly unblocked than the Panda.. see carefully the video. 4) pls next time if you test IGNIS take off ESP IS match more effective.
If I remember well - ESP goes off when Grip Control is engaged. In the last test keeping the Ignis for more seconds won't change a thing cause it has viscous coupling which you can burn.
c'est une blague ? le comparatif est fait par suzuki donc faux en situation tous terrains, la panda cross est bien plus agile et performante que la ignis ,regardez les comparatifs sur le net, youtube entre autres !
Test was organised by our channel. All in all, Panda got better result. And of course it is better offroad due to different awd system: m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1151898981954953&id=419553238522868
I feel I made the right choice getting a Panda over an Ignis. Although the Ignis is safer and has newer more efficient engines, the Panda has a much better ride, more solid interior and looks better.
Хочется эмоционально выразить своё недовольство конструкторов обеих авто. Электроника не работает так как она должна работать. Это раздражает! Лучше внедрить в конструкцию самую простую принудительную блокировку обеих дифференциалов и всё, авто будет ехать. I would like to emotionally express my dissatisfaction with the designers of both cars. The electronics don't work the way they should. This is annoying! It is better to introduce the simplest forced locking of both differentials into the design and that's it, the car will go. Chciałbym wyrazić emocjonalnie swoje niezadowolenie z projektantów obu samochodów. Elektronika nie działa tak, jak powinna. To denerwujące! Lepiej wprowadzić do projektu najprostszą wymuszoną blokadę obu dyferencjałów i tyle, auto pojedzie.
But this can be seen in the video, the car stands as if buried in place, the wheels are spinning empty. This is stupid, not logical, not rational. The car is designed to drive, and not to skid on the spot because of the stupidity of the designers.@@4x4.tests.on.rollers
@@guntis_rakausks Wheels are spinning for a moment, then system figures out what is going on and moves the car forward. The only problem is in the last test but that happens to many cars.
I agree, this is a problem for all cars, but the designers had to fix this problem, but they did not fix this problem. In place of this, they created an illusion that they called an imitation of blocking the differential, that is, they lied. This is a lie that you can buy for a lot of money.@@4x4.tests.on.rollers
@@guntis_rakausks Suzuki doesn't call the system as locking differential, they use Ttraction Control and Grip Control names. Fiat indeed does use the name Electronic Locking Differential.

Ha, ha, how pathetic you are in your quest to make a Fiat better than a Suzuki. Can't you see that the rear Suzuki rollers have a side restraint bracket. That's where Panda slipped out.
Come on, look at 4:25 again. Answer me now, would Panda get out if he had a bracket? NO NO NO !!!! And the blind man will see that he has slipped aside and then forward. Be correct next time. Success !
@@svilen1969 Apparently you can't see the other side of the car - Panda slided a little cause a lot of torque went to the only wheel with potential traction (it was spinning on the pavement, it just missed grip). That's what moved Panda forward, no connection with bracket (which was removed cause of safety reasons). Ignis isn't able to sent that much torque to the rear - why? - it is explained in the pinned comment on the top. All in all - performance of Ignis is much better except the last test. Ignis has quicker traction control response. Be correct next time when you want to analyse the results.
Apparently arguing with you is the same as arguing with the radio. There is no feedback. Put the cars in the same conditions and then do the tests! Same rollers and at the same time, the same driver! This is how it seems set up and deliberate. I hope I'm wrong but this video was sponsored by Fiat. Surely Real Madrid can lose to Grenada, especially with the help of the referee!
@@svilen1969 FYI - these are the same rollers. Only frames were slightly cut and repainted. The same driver? Why? Owners of the cars know their cars better than "the same driver". Same time - not possible, hundreds of cars tested. Conditions - cars vs rollers. During Panda test it was raining so we had to find some kind of a roof. A few more cars where tested during that session, all videos on my channel. Sponsored by Fiat? Seriously? Why would they sponsore a video where their car loses? Best regards from the radio.
