SLIP TEST - Toyota RAV4 II ESP vs Subaru Forester -  

Thanks for this and the other video. There are perfect comparisons and very helpful! I am surprised that the models with ESP/TC cannot move the 4th wheel when its on dry pavement and the other 3 wheels are on the rollers. You would think it would be an easy to program with ESP/TC. Overall both the non ESP/TC and ESP/TC Rav4 and Subaru are great AWD vehicles, and plough through very difficult conditions. The Rav4 had a factory rear Torsen LSD option which was super rare (which would not activate on rollers probably), but even better there is an aftermarket electronic locking rear-locker available for them (which could easily activate on these rollers).

@@gurpreetsoomal5408 Actually Subaru did move when only one wheel had grip. The problem with TC/ESP in Toyota is that it cannot be turned off, no button, and it cuts the power excessively. Works here but in some power demanding situations car may get stuck.

which is infuriating. subaru's drivetrain is amazing but needs a more reliable engine to mate with it. only way the boxer engine is more fullproof is by dumping a lot of aftermarket parts and work on it.

@@4x4.tests.on.rollers I could tell. Mine has the automatic central diff lock and it performs much better than that one lol. It's a great test though! Good to see you've done one with the rav and forester. My mate has a Forester and we're always bantering with each other saying who's car is better 😂I'd show him this but the rav lost. I'm sure if it had the diff lock like mine it'd perform much better

That would be rather misleading.

Just imagine putting a big mirror on the other side of the car so that you need to use only a single camera. This would be inconvenient as you need to handle the physical mirror but with two cameras you just mirror one of them in software. With your current approach one needs to do the mirroring in their mind. Also the icon which shows which wheels are free is rotated and thus you need to rotate it in your mind - one more visual task for your mind. Just my 2 cents...I like your videos!

@@dobrin.ivanov Can't agree. What you see now is what you see in reality. When car is moving forward - if you look at driver's side it is going to the left, if you look at passenger's side it is going to the right. That's natural. Mirror - how could camera see the mirror if it was on the other side of the car? Icon is directed up - that's neutral for both views. Thank you!

The mirror, of course, would be (at vertical level) slightly above the car and tilted so that it projects the other side of the car into the camera :) Agree about the natural part but still you cannot be simultaneously in two different positions :)

Its all because of open differentials. With limited slip ones both woupd never be stuck like this as power wont go to least grippy wheel as it happens in open diff cars

@@hellenicforces9066 i am a Subaru guy and I find the rav4 did better and look better. Yesterday I throw my 2010 toyota rav4 into a mountain just for fun but the rav4 4x4 is better then Subaru and it looks better too

@@live_the_moment_with_arnol5661 Rav4 didn't do better. It was much worse due to two reasons. First - awd system itself - in this case Subaru has much more sophisticated system with active clutch-pack which can lock the center diff while Rav4 awd system is the same as basic one in Subaru with viscous center differential. Second - you can't switch the ESP off in Rav4 - that means the system is cutting power and nothing you can do about it.
