I totally got what you said about the transition in critical darling. It happened my first time too. You'll get into the beat, then it switches the beat into the chorus. But after listening to it more times you easily flow with it

Orphan is my favorite song from the album by far. The more I listen to it the more I want to listen to it again. This album is just epic

Orphan is nice. It sounds like something from All Hope Is Gone. And Critical Darling sounds amazing eventhough its very melodic.

One of my favorite things about your videos is how thoroughly invested in experiencing metal that Sistah has gotten. It's a rare treat for us metalheads to see someone who is new to the scene become such a serious fan, and I wanna thank you for sharing that with me. I'm really looking forward to the video you guys make, on the day after your first mosh pit, when Sistah is favoring her bruised ribs, with a swollen cheek and split lip, and a smile like the cat that swallowed the canary. To paraphrase Thoreau, the pit is for people who "dared to live."

I like the way you guys discuss that sense of familiarity between songs. For me, Orphan felt a little like Heretic Anthem 2.0 (not a bad thing in my mind) and I agree that the transitions between parts of Critical Darling were certainly jarring on the first listen, but I love them both for a number of reasons. I think that familiarity (or lack of) adds to the songs and where they fall in place in the album. At the end of the day, I could still break my neck head banging along to the entire album, and it’s stayed in my car ever since I purchased the CD. I think that, more than anything speaks to what a gem they produced this time around.

Underrated channel.

The wife and I both agree for once... This album kicks ass!!! Slipknot has their own sound, and just like AC/DC, they don't move too far from their comfort zone. That being said, I think it's a great opus. For me, Critical Darling has a lot of the melody found in Stone Sour, or Wait And Bleed. But I Like It. Ferocious as F*ck. Peace!!!
