Smooth bore tanker's are brutal!! I pulled tanker for a little while in an older truck that could barely get up the highway on-ramp, the engine brake or gearing was useless against that weight.. Had it slap so hard I saw stars...120,000lbs is a handfull especially in traffic dealing with pin head 4 wheeler's. And van drivers...PLEASE do not pull back in front of a tanker on a down grade for fuck sake!! Respect the tanker...cheer's
Im haulling those smooth bores today!! .if you don't mind me asking howd you maintain your tank ? I get this feeling I move too much I guess that's something I have to overcome
I can feel the slosh while watching this video lol. It's hard to describe it through a video. You just have to experience it yourself. We have these new in cab cameras which I hate. The slosh can hit so hard sometimes that it sets the camera on
hey Dave glad to see ya back on the road hope all is well for ya , did you hear if theres going to be a season 8 IRT or not ? if so are ya gonna work forhuhy this year? please let me know ok thanks john
I pull a smooth bore for 11 years . and it beat me up bad !Now i have a plate in my neck >C 5 to C 7 ! My spine is bad ! and my right arm is now shot ! HAY! FOR THE EMPLOYER >ITS GREAT ! >EASY CLEAN! OUT GET IT ON ROAD ! >I was paid 37.000 a year to pull that piece of shit ! DRIVERS DO NOT PULL SMOOTH BORE TANKERS ! U WILL PAY IN THE LONG RUN ! :(
Is this older, or are you driving again? I've hauled 75 gallons in an old auto car fuel tank in the back of my truck, and felt tank slap with that. I can't even imagine a tanker.....
Baffels should be somewhat mandatory. In some cases it's not needed. But it does help. And timing is definitely key. Timing in braking, corners , acceleration.
Zt Weve bc if you float the gears (no clutch) then when u get off the fuel without touching the clutch the Jake's will automatically kick on. And it will screw u all u up. Im a tanker yanker
I don't blame new drivers for working at bad companies. I blame the trainers for not properly teaching young drivers the correct way on driving. Pushing a new driver out in only a couple of weeks is total B.S. You can't effectively teach someone 20 years in 2 weeks. It should be at least two or three months. And trainers should not do it just for the money, but to teach someone the right way. I don't blame swift/werner/ Schneider and all those companies, I blame the trainers.
DW Red They offer me $10,000 dollars sing on team bonus, a brand new truck with 0 miles, plus if I want to after I finish training within 60 days I can become a trainer and get paid more.. Werner seen like a good company C.L. Werner the founded of the company came out of retirement to run his company again after he fired both of his kids.
I haul fuel and our compartments don't even move that bad. Whoever says fuel tankers slosh bad needs to learn how to drive smoothly and slow down on curves. Rookies
+will chavez You Have different compartments in a fuel tanker. Dave's tanker doesn't have a baffle or different compartments, just straight thru. All shotgun tankers slosh that bad, you cannot control the slosh of a tank without a baffle or different compartments.
Very true. I was a month into hauling tanks and still with a trainer delivering full loads. Now that it's been sometime I've delivered a few partially filled loads and my tanker with baffles and compartments slosh alot. I couldn't imagine how his feels. My original post was just me speaking without much experience
will chavez I couldn't imagine how that feels either. We pull liquid fertilizer in deep v tankers and even with the center drop it will slosh bad. We pull spring ride trailers though, I don't know if Dave's trailer is spring ride or air ride, not that it makes much of a difference though.
