I've finally built a robot arm! it has 6 degrees of freedom and 6 stepper motors. It is constructed using 3d printed parts and carbon fibre parts. Trinamic stepper drivers make the robot silent.

Thank you for showing the bag of failed attempts. All the videos where they whip crazy things up in 10 minutes while it'll take me 2 weeks just to destroy everything makes me feel doomed, but your bag of carcasses gives me hope.

This beautiful project.. adding some pendant control... add feature teching robot... and my asking what is the sensor angle every dof? I make a scara robot... but the dificult sensore size to find it.

Ciao, complimenti per il progetto, mi ha affascinato da subito, sto terminando la stampa di tutti i pezzi, solo che trovo una grande difficoltà nel reperire tutte le cinghie, pulegge e cuscinetti necessari. Non sarebbe una cattiva idea se mettessi a disposizione un kit pronto per l'acquisto di tutte le parti meccaniche. O magari dei link diretti per l'acquisto....spero tu possa aiutarmi, complimenti ancora, Sabino.

Your work is fantastic and I am making the 6 Dof serial RA. I'm still having trouble finding all the parts. I wrote a PROCESSING / CONTROL P5 interface to communicate with the robot to be able to send it saved and modifiable commands and I plan to put a vacccum gripper. I am in France, can I communicate in French with you?

Great videos and very helpful. I'm new in robotics, i bought Peter Corke's book Im currently trying to make objective oriented arduino code to be able to handle any serial (at least) robot but i keep falling into obstacles. I wonder if you could help me with some questions i got. Thanks in advance

Which power source did you use for this arm? Can the speed and the torque be improved using more power and raising the voltage?

Very cool! Arms length is quite short though, could it be extended?

Yes. The main idea was to make this arm fast, that is why it is short. I will check the maximum speed in the one of the next videos. I also started development of the bigger version (human size robotic arm).

Hi all, I have finally source all parts after months of getting them everywhere. now Im stuck on cutting the carbon fibre parts. I cant get a clean GCode file to make this (maybe lack of experience). Is there a kind soul that can share the Gcode files to cut the carbon parts? I really appreciate!!

That looks neat! What happens if you cut the power? Does the arm have any way to lock its position or does it go limp?

Unfortunately, there is no way to lock it in the position. Without power it just falls. But this is very good point. I will try to look if in the next version I could implement some kind of locking system.

@@Skyentific con Frenos electromagnéticos de imán permanente puede solucionar este punto. El freno va colocado en el eje de rotación, cuando la energía se corta un resorte mueve dos pletinas, estas se pegan y evitan el giro. Vienen de distintos torques de retencion. Saludos

In this file, you can find the schematics of the electronics for this project and the connection of the drivers. In the future I will do the video about electronics for this project. how to decide link length and torque required at each joint?

This is not very easy task. You would need to estimate the weight of each link and the centre of mass for each link. With this you can estimate the torque at each motor. For this robot I just roughly estimated this values.

I am starting this build, but I cannot find the belts in Europe anywhere, and even two are out of production at sdp-si. Can you update BOM with alternatives? Both 6R51M139060 and 6R53M128090 cannot be found. And there is no option for 6R51M087060 or 6R53M152090 in EU.

Did you check SDP-SI website? They are from US, but they have a good choice of belts.

Такаяже проблемка, ремней и шкивов с шагом 3мм и шириной 9мм на али трудно найти, попробую собрать на более распрстраненных 10мм ремнях

All the soft is on Arduino. I wrote this software. Later I will try to run the robot through ROS.

The easiest software, which I know, is written for AR2 arm (try to google: Chris Annin AR2). I never use it, but it is open source and relatively simple, but not optimal in terms of communication between robot and computer. I also think that 3D printer software could be adapted for the robotic arm, but this would be complicated task.
