Man I’ve boiled water high in the mountains with one of these things using only pine cones, pine needles and dry twigs. I’d prefer using it over gas any day. Never run out of twigs in the bush.
Great piece of kit Tim I have something similar and it’s great that you can get a little heat from it in the colder months and where you can’t have a fire , good job 👌👍
Great setup...always enjoy a good real fire stove...hmmm, is the beard faux fur? Lol...just kidding...Otis keeps licking mine...maybe there is food in there...only he knows for sure...take great care, thanks for the review, and be safe!
It's pretty tiny and when it's burning there is minimal smoke. I don't recall any major smell but I honestly don't recall paying much attention to the scent much. I know I've burned it under a well ventilated hammock tarp many time if that helps?
@@BackpackingwithBuckleythat helps a lot. Planning to do some motorcycle camping and I was hoping that I could use it under a high tarp and not draw attention to myself with a lot of smoke smell so people think I’m just using a gas stove since people freak out about you having a small camp fire especially out West where it’s dry, and just like you I don’t feel like I’m camping if there’s not a fire and when you’re camping out west you aren’t allowed to have a fire sometimes. Thanks brother
@wesloughrie1 I know the feeling. No fires where I'm at either. Just be aware that the burn time on this is not long so gather an obnoxious amount of twigs! 😀
I have a similar stove but it's a cheaper amazon one. Bought it 2 years ago. Never used it yet lol. Watching this is making me think I should bust it out. Great review and I'll have to look into the pulled pork.
My friend, if you gain one thing from this video.....IT IS THE PORK. Its pretty game changing for me. The only problem is you have to go to WALMART. Lol. I tagged you in my next video to do a short video on 5 tips for beginners. It is a pretty crazy thing that actually started in WALES and reached us through Bohemian Adventurers. Dont feel obligated by any means!
That looks super lightweight, great review and up close with your fire stove. I also got one to review myself which I haven't used yet. I will get to use it sometime this year. See you later Tim ohh Yeahh!
Nice. I was going for the lightest non collapsible stove I could find. I like it so far! We get cold temps I SE South Dakota but rarely enough snow to pulk so I want to MAYBE be able to backpack it all in.
I really wish you would have shown us how to make coffee... On a real note, I agree that this stove is really fun for the ritualistic camper, it gives a person something to do when adventuring around camp isn't an option.
I need to up my coffee game. I dont think ill bring this often but for sure to the Badlands in summer. Oddly, in winter I think I wouldn't use it there. Without a HOT fire I think the Badlands are an early to the tent place in winter.
Tommy, I cant tell you enough how much you mean to me and Bohemian!! You've always stuck with us. You're the man.....and YES, try the pork dude. Its so shocking to me that I like it!!
@@SeniorHiker77 I am about 5 hours east of Rapid. I go there a lot though. The Black Hills and Badlands are the nearest EPIC areas to me. I am going to attempt the Centennial Trail this summer which runs all the way through the Black Hills 120 miles. I want to try ONE big one before I am too old!! If you EVER come this way, I will go out of my way to join you sir. Im happy with 1-15 miles a day. 🙂
