I asked Steve about the reunion and the two records. He said that they really liked to play togheter again, that it felt good but that the records did'nt sell enough so that was it.That's what i remember he must have said more about it.He sure told me a lot of interesting, cool stuff. About Keith Richards ( my favorite muscian and rock'n roll hero) whom he really, really liked He said that Keith had saved his life and stuff, about the Stones and lot of other stuff.A long night/early morning many beers and joints consumed and hillarious stuff that happened. This after a superb gig with Steve and his drummer and his bassplayer "Package of Three" .Many classic Small Faces tunes and great blues playing.
One of the best lead singers in the history of rock. Alcohol and drugs destroyed every one of my family members in the music industry. Hee Haw escorted my father off stage on opening night because of his drunken alcoholic behavior. Better to live sober so you can cherish every moment.
My sister's n brother there children are the same drunks my friends are all dead or don't have driver's license to go out anywhere. Buried so many good folks. I've been sober for 32 years I'm 70 n doing well. God forgive the drunks in my life
Yes creative people do live on a high nothing like performing it’s when your not that the demons can so often get in what can we say it’s tragedy but what is more tragic is back in the old days you would here of this from time to time Hendrix Joplin etc but now it’s every other kid on the block easy pray for the dealers selling death cheap and the police turn a blind eye teachers make light of drugs to chill our future just don’t look good Drugs are for hospitals not to put youngsters in hospital We got one body when it’s gone it’s gone
Jimmy + Steve 🙏 God-bless them 💫 they must have done some heavy partying together? The tragedies happened to each of them not to long after this video, when Jimmy left WINGS saw him with WINGS 1st US Tour. in 1976, I had 1st row for that show. The best performance I've ever seen😎 🎉 they brought me such joy, ty guys 🎶💜🎶 Rocklove ArtyThan ☆♡☆
Many many thanks Jimmy McColluchFan Great video from 37 years ago I had never seen before I have seen Jagger, Plant, Daltrey, Stewart,et al, bit Steve was the best and the greatest of the lot. RIP to Jimmy, Steve, and Mac. THANK YOU.
Very honest, poignant comment, Tracie. Keep looking and hoping. I met my wife when we were well into our 40s and we've been happy and in love pretty much ever since. I hope this will happen for you (or perhaps it already has, in the five years since you wrote your comment). Best wishes.
You have to put yourself out there. If you wait, that one love will not come to you. Do things you love, find people who enjoy music and life in general. Most of all do not waste your time with someone who doesn't have the same dreams and values.
utterly astonishing brilliance as always with steve marriot!!!.................. he knows how to capture your soul, mind and heart more than any other!!!!!............ : )
You will not believe it I first heard this wonderful group only at 05.06.20! I am amazed! I don't understand why Steve MARRIOTT isn't listed among the best Rock and Blues geniuses! RIP Steve! Thank you for coming into my life! I was born in Siberia in 1971.
You have a lot of glorious Small Faces music to catch up on then my friend! Enjoy every second of it because no one, even to this day, has a voice that comes close to Steve Marriott's - he was pitch perfect! Oh and all of you who have made a comment about Steve picking coke from his nose - he was doing what he always did, he was playing to the camera. Steve was as good at acting as he was at singing - you only have to read what the late Lionel Bart said of him to know what an exceptionally talented entertainer/performer he was. THE VERY BEST!!
Still love this song. If you really look, you can still see the the young Steve Marriott. Love and miss him. Hard to believe watching this video, that Steve, Jimmy and Ian are all gone and gone far too soon.
Still got a great voice, nice guitar work, quite understated and just in the right places instead of overplaying . Looks like Jimmy had a dig before performing.
Fabulous upload - thank you very much. It's so sad to see great talent that died too early. But also uplifting to see these great musos enjoying themselves.
I am a big fan of the Small Faces and have never seen this clip before. I don't think much of the song though and found watching it made me feel sad to see Steve looking the worse for wear, lacking his usual poise. I'll keep my prime time memories of him.
Out of all the Steve videos this is the hardest for me to watch. Usually I can see past the drugs and still be in awe of Steve but I can't with this one. All I see is cocaine.
I saw them Live, 4th row center @ The Fillmore East NYC they opened for Black Sabbath's 1st American Tour 💯 Rock + Roll History 🎶 Priceless ✨️ Rock on! ArtyThan ☆♡☆
i remember seeing the ogden's session on colour me pop when i was three. but then they disappeared. then ten years on i saw this, and though they were now a different band i could see that this kind of song was a natural progression. it's a classic in its own right.
Rick does actually look a lot like Larry Bird. Plus he's towering about 2 feet about the Small Faces. I never realized how small Jimmy was either. and both he and Steve look pretty baked. Thanks for uploading. Don't like the song, but I have never seen any quality video of the Small Faces Mark II before.
TPAwavelink I have a soft spot for Rod because I grew up with his cheesy disco stuff and then he sorta had an 80's moment when I was a teenager, but, I think Steve is the better vocalist. ♥️🎶
@@JimmyMcCullochFan oh I though this was ''78'' still a great loss to music I think he would have gone on and done great things I mean he was young wasn't he only in his mid-20 I think.
I find it difficult to watch this as Steve and Jimmy just look a mess. I adored both of them but I prefer to remember Steve as in Small Faces and Jimmy when he was with Wings.
To all who post crap about someones pursuit of happiness through drugs or whatever. What makes YOU any better than Jimmy? We all die some time in life be it early or old age. Its a piece of rock and roll history so whats the point? If any good can come out of the circumstance it should be used to help someone else and not judge who is not here to defend themselves.
Interesting yacht rock feel to this. If they had stuck around they could have made it big in America during the eighties with this sound. But alas… and although they were made irrelevant by Punk they we were still younger than The Stranglers!
Jim could of had a promising career. Hard drug addiction had really taken a toll on his body as he looked emaciated. Tommy Bolin who was a much more accomplished guitarist unfortunately fought drug addiction and died young as well. Thanks for sharing.
I thought it looked more like he was snorting coke, not picking his nose per se... Marriot was absolutely brilliant and a rare talent at songwriting, guitar, singing, and performing live. He was a non-stop ball of energy who worked his ass off in the music business, yet he was to be ripped off time and time again by the sharks in suits controlling the industry. He was so broke during many periods of his career that he was forced to resort to stealing vegetables to feed his family, all the while his work was charting, selling thousands of records, selling out concerts, and earning song royalties for the record label executives and dodgy managers instead of going to Steve. Naturally the stress of these factors would take their toll on anyone, and by 1978 when this video was shot it was clear they had also taken a toll on Marriott. Despite this though, he continued to write, record and perform live for what would be the rest of his life. His life cut short aged just 44 in a house fire, and a horrendously painful way to die.
Poor young Jimmy. He passed away shortly after this performance. Paul McCartney's greatest guitarist too. He was gutted when he called up to say he'd left for the Small Faces.
Digger I have to disagree. Though I liked his skills and the 2 songs he wrote while with Paul and saw him live with Paul on the WOA tour on May 15, 1976, Lawrence Huber is and was then a much more talented musician and guitarist. And Paul was NOT "gutted" when Jimmy left, he was pissed he did it by phone out of the blue. Can't say as I blame Paul in the least.
Ana Parada Jimmy never had children. The photo of Jimmy with the little girl you’re always rambling on about is Dave Clarke’s daughter. Get your facts straight. You come on RU-vid and make all these assumptions and accusations about Jimmy and his family, and you’re nothing but disrespectful and uninformed. Do us all a favor and stay away - your ramblings are unwelcome.
Steve fantastic singer guitarist front man but let down by his demons as you can see on this video could have been massive like rod Stewart Springsteen and Bowie but went off the rails
Ronnie was one of the original members but around 1977 he realized he had inherited MS, multiple sclerosis, genetically and he wasn't able to perform since. It was very tragic.
This is the worse I've ever saw Steve Marriott look thru the years in pictures & interviews he was always such a nice looking man but he just don't look rite in this video sorry but still love his music always .
Jackyblue67 Same There’s an acoustic number he did with clem. Steve is on ukelele and he looks like he just snorted a pile of snow. Couldn’t remember lyrics and could barely catch his breath.
Is it just me (and I love him so I am NOT dissing him in any way) but would Jimmy look at home in the Bay City Rollers? May have made them a better band (although the Rollers are from my home town so I have a soft spot for them)
Whoh, Jimmy looks wasted on the gear here. Watch the close ups especially 1.50 minutes in. and see the drooping eyes. Aye, that's smack. I know but jumped the gun. Poor Jimmy he must have been upset tae meddle with opiates.
Playmates and 78, are criminally overlooked, for certain... Can't figure out why. Steve, we miss you..... And the rest of the gang. Ronnie MC Nairney Ayrshire Scotland
