In this video I show you more framing for the small house build. The 700 + square foot house has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and is being built from the ground up. New construction framing cost wil be listed in the following episodes.
Hello all, In this episode I talk about how I treat my workers and why it's important to do things the right way. If you treat people as human beings they will act in kind. I received some "interesting" comments latelly so in this episode I am trying to get across the message of "GO AFTER YOUR DREAM/GOAL don't let people put doubt in your head and work towards whatever you want to achieve and you WILL get it, period! Take care guys and thank you for everything that you do for my channel.
Hello, I really enjoy your content. Affordable housing is much needed all over. My wife and I recently had our first child and been trying to find a home but everything is so expensive. I'm not sure how someone affords the mortgage payment on homes. I love that you try to keep your home payments around the $400 to $600 range. That is around the price we would hope to find. Wish you were here in Texas. I would hire you to build us a home!
I admire your outlook and philosophy about your workers. I used to frame homes for habitat, and I would never do it for a living because most employers treat their guys like crap. The company I work for now(not in construction) doesnt know the first thing about treating employees right. If I wasn't so close to retirement I'd go somewhere else
I fully agree with you, if the atmosphere between workman and (boss) / I always say workman with a different task / is good work people become thinkers instead of clock watchers, I have now seen a number of vid how the workmen behave ( outside just nice) I like to watch more vids from you, with kind regards from the Netherlands
There are basically two different types of RU-vidrs. The ones who are trying to make money for their channel, and the ones who are using the platform to teach others important information. We all know which side of the fence the Migraine Craftsman is on! You are awesome, MC.
I love that in every video you've ever made on the channel you say "I love what I do!" They say if you love what you do then you'll never work another day in your life. Not many people can say that. Nice job.
Absolutely love the videos man. I can genuinely tell you are a honest stand up guy and I believe you when you say you want to help people. I hope you never stop making these videos!!!
joe momma HEY, MR. MC IS A GREAT GUY, HONEST, REAL, HE DOES THIS CUZ HE LOVES WHAT HE DOES, WHICH IS SO OBVIOUS!!!! AND HE LIKES HELPING PEOPLE!!!! WE NEED MORE PEOOLE LIKE HIM HIM IN THIS WORLD, IT WOULD DEFINITELY BE A BETTER PLACE FOR SURE. WE DEFINITELY NEED MORE PEOPLE LIKE HIM IN THE BUILDING INDUSTRY, THEN MORE PEOPLE WOULD GET HONEST DEALS AND NOT TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF!!!!!! THANK YOU MR. MC FOR WHAT YOU DO, I HIGHLY APPRECIATE YOU!!!! MANY OF US HIGHLY APPRECIATE YOU!!!! PEACHES
Thanks for what you do. I live in Ohio and I'm 17 years old I go to a career center for construction and I'm starting an apprenticeship in the summer and my plan is to build my house 2 years after highschool which might not be realistic but I don't care that is my goal.thanks man👍👍👍
Save your money, when you hit 18 get a secured credit card to buld your credit score. If you do those 2 things you will be miles ahead of other people your age. I can tell you if you do it right you can get a house paid for or a very low mortgage payment by the time you are 25. What I just told you is what I did, hard work pays off! just don't get distracted or sidetracked trust me those times will come too.
It's realistic JK Ultra you can do it trust me just stick with your dreams&goals.i promise you @your age it's realistic in that medium your working In. & with yourself, embrace & soak all your training/learning in and you'll be & take it to the level you want to be! I wish I were thinking like that when I was you age! God Bless!
JK Ultra live in a few different homes too, to see what you like and what you don’t so your house design is yours and you won’t have many regrets. (You’ll learn from each of your builds and designs though it doesn’t have to be a regret.)
Bob and Dennis thank you for inspiring the youngin. We need more folks to think about their future a bit earlier. They have better lifes we all have better lifes.
First time in my life I've seen an honest Craftsman. Won't see this in America. The more knowledge we have the more we become civilized to improve our lifestyle and others.
I sure wish you were based here in southern California where home prices are astronomical. My sister tried and failed to build a small 1300 sq ft house in northern LA county. Too many red tapes to go through. Most builders are not interested in building small houses. Expensive fees for utility hookups, school districts, fire and police, etc. At the end of the day your small house would cost almost as much as a house built by a national home builder. So keep up with your good work and continue to be unselfish in helping others to afford a home while still earning a decent living for yourself.
Kinda sucks that people comment hateful things and rant about how they can do it better. Really doesn’t matter. Your boys are working hard and they are obviously not slacking, regardless of their pace and efficiency. Love the channel and great content. This house was super satisfying to watch getting framed
Great advice, don;t let people kill your dreams with negativity. I'm learning to develop and most of what I hear from people is negative. Everyone trys to convince me I can't do it. I will keep going and succeed.
thank you for treating your workers like humans, not robots! They are not lolly gagging around, they are working solidly. If people were treated how your commenters say, I would quit! Thank you for what you do.
So much truth in this video. The old-school mentality of bullying ppl. to move faster or rush harder are over. I've been blessed enough to work for 2 major corporations that have offered leadership & emotional intelligence training. I've applied it into my personal life too. Those guys seem to move at a perfect steady pace anyway. Every one of them is moving at all times. What else can you ask for... Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
Thank you for sharing and being a person of compassion and positive change. I truly love what you are doing and inspired by your passion. Please keep doing these awesome affordable homes. God bless!!
How are you MC. I pray you feel well. I am not a builder, another person like you. I understand what you say about working with people and having a good relationship, working environment. Thank you for bring so caring about what work you do and how to treat people. Gid bless you. I wish I was living in your town, perhaps I would think of having a small one bedroom house for myself. Keep on doing what you do. Take care. We need more people like you sir. Thanks again.
I'm so glad I came across your channel. I'm currently building my home and just watching your channel gives me so much information as to the process and cost estimates. You seem so genuine. I enjoy your spirit 🙂
I been watching ur videos. N I want to let u know. I love it. So much knowledge and someday I'm building one home. Maybe even do what ur doing but down in California. I love to help ppl. Ty again.
I absolutely Love to watch your work! Very satisfying seeing how they come together, makes home ownership seem so much more achievable! I'm obsessed. And your work ethic always delivers. I'm currently saving money to build one similar to a previous video. YOU ARE AWESOME thank you. #Caribbeansinglemom
The move videos of yours I watch, the more I respect you. And thank you for encouraging us viewers to follow our dreams when others discourage us. I needed some encouragement today.
All your home building videos are amazing. This is my favorite. I really like how you addressed the people who criticize and have negative comments. Good for you! Your videos are fantastic. You are a real and honest person. I have learned so much about home building and prices, and yes, you are the only one that speaks about prices. Keep Doing what you’re doing and thank you!
I like that you're doing small homes still. When researching builders in Ohio, they all seem to build larger more expensive homes. I think I may take a shot at a self build.
Hi. Ilove your enthusiasm I have never seen a boss so enthusiastic about his work what he does his job what he creates and about how he feels about his employees I commend you for that because it is very very hard to find anyone in construction to be honest and take pride in what they do in their work I actually got scammed but a construction supposedly business in our small town and he stole my mobile home camper that was my 11 year old daughters he stole our dog because he befriended her and I can't prove it but cuz I don't I don't have pictures of them but we did see him but that wasn't enough and he stole all the money I had paid him to do the work and I know that was my fault it was my first time the home was actually a trailer that was given to me because my daughter and I were homeless and we got robbed took us almost 2 years to save up the money and we got robbed so I'm stuck with a trailer that's pretty much worthless cuz the water got in and I'm pretty sure there's mold in there and I was trying to build a tiny house out of a shed only to find out it's not allowed here and now because I started doing things to it I can't send it back so I'm stuck with it and to make it livable I have to add 390 ft to it so that it could actually be I think that's it what it is for it to actually be 900 square feet it's a 14x40 14 wide 40 long so I have to add more to it but of course I don't have the money for it anymore so my little girl and I just live in a small one bedroom apartment that is just extremely tiny but we just keep praying and praying and praying that God hears our prayers and somehow we get this done one way or another we'll get it done that's why I watch a lot of your videos so I could learn and figure out what to do so thank you thank you thank you so much for your videos if you ever do a 900 square foot house please post the video so I can kind of see how you do it and maybe try to copy it in a way but thank you God bless stay safe
I hope to do something like this one day. I see it similar to a game too. I don't want to work an office job. This is the dream and plus you are helping people by providing affordable housing.
I came across this channel in search of a well detailed day by day construction of a new house and by far this channel did not disappoint. I'm going into Construction Management and seeing all of this gives me that feeling of knowledge accomplished for witnessing the beauty of teamwork. I can't wait to get the same feeling you get when building my own house.
We have 100 sqm land for the house in the farm . This is very awesome idea and I would love to do it on my own but I'm away from that place only I can show this to my brother so that he can learn from your very nice creativity ❤🥰😉 thank you so much for this
Going to be building a house directly behind my current house I have a big back yard and hate how close to the road my front door is. The current house is 600 square feet and built in 1950. New house will be 1200 square feet and attached 900 square foot garage. I've been leaning a lot from this build u are doing and I think I can do the majority of the house by myself. Your workers are great. And you're right, no one likes to be pushed beyond a comfortable work pace. Keep it up and thank you so much for sharing
Love these videos. Thank you. Would love a video where you discuss the build of the house up the hill from this current build ( seen in the backdrop) before the channel was created. I think you mentioned doing that house too before the channel but I could be wrong.
that house was very simiar in build to these. It was over insulated with r15 and r 38 for rafters. Insulated interior walls, all of them. Solid core doors, new appliances , white cabinets (shaker) style etc etc. That house by the way has the best view! and I kept this house roof pitch to the minimum so I didnt block her view.
Awesome another great video just wanted to let you know heard back from the Soil analysis's he said I only have Room for a one bedroom Now I just need to put the plans together thank you
Good deal, one bedroom septic tank should be affordable, If I remember correctly mine ws quoted at about $2200. Keep it simple and you'll have an awesome home with a minimal investment.
Talkers talk and criticize...doers do and have no time for talk❤ neat channel ...I am thinking of selling my downtown condo and buying a bit of land🤗 thanks new sub very inspiring!♡!
Very nice well built a lot of rich people in Brentwood, clayton ladue, kirkwood.it is a very very high rent district.you are a smart man the bigger the house the more taxes you have to pay .I think big houses are a thing of the past.as in 1,200.or 1,400 square feet are a thing of the past.people are down sizing big time rich people even so many houses for sale in ladue area very wealthy people to.
The size you mentioned is very popular here, everyone localy here always asks if I can build a little bit bigger, I say no and they look at me weird lol.
Your right on, I’d rather it take longer to ensure it’s done right then have it slapped together like some do. Also i sure wish more people would follow the golden rule of treating others like you would want to be treated. I’d love to know how you found goods subs for your projects.
55 years plus doing construction most as a foreman, superintendent or company owner and never pushed my crews we got plenty done with few mistakes and few injuries.....I was always part of the crew and didn’t ask anyone to do anything I wouldn’t do myself.
I love what you are doing, your a smart man. small affordable housing is a great investment for you and the buyer, Mc'Mansions that cost THOUSANDS to maintain each year in TAX and utilities are not good investments. Keep up the great work🤟
I used to live in an area where yout taxes were over a thousand dollars a month (just your real estate taxes) needless to say I moved out of the state completelly, they lost their mind.
You fill a need I wish so many others were able to accomplish. Homes that are less than 1500 square feet, let alone 1,000, are just so hard to find. But they're so much easier to keep clean and organized, especially if you can later toss in a couple accessory sheds around the property, or even a detached garage someday. It's so hard to tell the scale, but are you framing 8' or 9' walls? I've been going through your video history and thoroughly enjoying your channel, so I hope all the likes I've been adding have been helping your RU-vid channel climb even a little!
Georgia's building codes have always been alot different than say, like florida or south carolina. Which is a good thing. Looking good! Had to edit because I just noticed this video was from a year ago. Lol. Anyway, I bet it turned out great 👍
You and your guys do an amazing job. These people talking about how much quicker the job should be done are probably the one's building $300,000 house's that the roofs leak after one year because their rushing the job and not doing quality work.
Awesome house one tip though when sheathing the house avoid using scrap to fill in above your windows, the osb gives the house a lot of shear strength.
My fist home was an old lake house it is 860 sf without the finished basement.Living in a smaller home was more satisfying time for me.i still own that home and its now a great rental.Small is great and I think is becoming more common again.Like the homes from the big housing boom after ww2. Modest size houses.
Wonderful content! I am grateful for the way you present your content...Very well thought out, logical and informative. The area you have chosen is absolutely gorgeous! While I understand you may be reluctant to divulge the specific location you have chosen, would you be willing to share the general region or area of Georgia in which you build? Looks like it would be a very desirable to place to retire to. Anyway, thank you for all you do to simplify the process and make it understable for someone like me with little construction experience. You have the heart of a teacher and do love what you do and it shows! Also, thank you for your good example of the charitable work you do for those who may be struggling with a lack of food. Again, thank you. If you feel comfortable responding to my question above, I’ll look for it. Thank you, Migraine Craftsman...May your headaches reduce in frequency & intensity as the days go by!
Thank you for your response! Wishing you all the best! With kind regards, -Paul😀👍🏼 (A life-long learner and advocate for the good you are doing!) Keep up the great work!!!
I have worked for a few truly horrible bosses in my day so I can totally relate to what you are saying in this video. Common decency seems to be fading these days. Everything is about speed and money. If you are kind and patient people view you as weak and someone to be taken advantage of. Sad really. Anyway, keep up the good work I use each of your videos as motivation.
I’m building a 750 sq ft home in Oregon this summer. I have framed three houses so I know some basics but would love to reach out with questions as they come up. Thanks for your help!
this looks like a bathtub wall so he may be able to offset this pipe back into the existing wall cavity, also you can fur out the wall one inch , or move the partition if it is feesable.
Hello , i love watching your videos and i am learning so much . I live in South Africa and we use the metric measuring system , what is the size of a 2 by 4? I saw another video where the size was an inch and a half but still refered to 2 by , Thanks for great videos ,
I had worked for some bosses like you and it was pleasant to work with them, good memories. I had 1 question. What is that blue color around the bottom of the walls? Looks like a dusting of a powder. I'm a fan of your videos. Keep them coming.
I also have daily migraines and when bosses crack the whip on me, my efficiency allways drops. My best work is when I can slow down and do my work with a clear head. Soon as the boss comes around and starts micromanaging me, I loose my clear head.
I lot of people have to deal with that, a smart boss realizes that and gets the most out of their employees. I have seen so many good and bad ones and I learned from both.
I just love to watch your videos! Thank you so much for keeping things simple. I have learned so much and now I feel I have the confidence to have a casita built. I have contacted my local Planning Department and have been told that I can build a 609 sq ft unit in my backyard. I have found two, 2/1 floor plans, but need a 2/2. Could you look at the two floor plans and advise if it is possible to comfortably add the additional bath? I'd really appreciate any advice that you could offer. I'm flexible on the floor plans also if you have a better idea.
I think it's great what you do. I wish people would build houses like this where I live. You can't get a new build for under 400k in my area and they're all wannabe mansions 4' apart from each other.
Best! Thank you so much for share with us. I have a question: can slab sink to cause sewer pipes crack? do you need to leave gap between sewer pipe and concrete?
Just curious why the light blue paint around the pex plumbing? Love the videos. It reminds me of watching This Old House on PBS as a kid...not sure why. Thanks.
The blue is for cold water the red for hot, if that is what you were referring too. The top of the pipes are also taped so no junk gets in there during construction. With this system there is a pipe within a pipe the bigger pipe serves as a chase, hopes that makes sense I know it sounds weird.
