Nice to see a small department get a new truck, especially after so long. My grandfather help start a fire department locally back in the early 70's, he even built the first station on his land. 50 years later they've gone from two old engines in a open air shed to having a 7 bay, and still adding on, fire station and multiple apparatuses. My grandfather started as the assistant chief (only reason why he wasn't chief is because he wasn't a certified fire fighter at the time, so they borrowed another departments chief) to chief, and even after his "retirement" in the late 90's, he's still with the fire department in charge of finances.
What i don't understand is why America splits everything, police, ambulacnes, fire etc all into counties/towns. Like why not just have a state department like Australia? - budgetting would be so much easier, everything could be so much simplier
I hope they hang on to the older equipment, a lot of the stuff in that firehouse is pretty rare, especially that cabover engine. These trucks deserve to be put to work, not sitting in a scrapyard or someone's garage.
since they are in such need of emergency vehicles Code 3 and Sutphen should gift them new vehicles that would be able to combat the harsh terrain such as a large forestry engine, water tanker , custom UTV designed for firefighters , and a new ambulance capable of going off-road.
40 years?! That’s really dangerous, glad they got a new one. If the old one ever sprung leaks during that time then forget forest fires; a simple building fire could consume the whole town in minutes 😳
