2:56 - Handbrake on. 3:49 - Water on fire. 53 seconds from arrival to water on fire - One of the best responses from US firefighters I've seen. Backwater rural stations in Germany are posting videos with HALF that time though, so don't let up on the training.

This is what a textbook Fire Attack looks like. All pre-arrival Fire Videos should look like this !!I. In way too many pre-arrival videos the Fire departments often take five, ten, and some Fifteen minutes to get water on the fire after the first Engine arrives while people are aimlessly walking around in turnout gear doing nothing !!! From a Dutch perspective, too many US firemen are busy doing nothing and their main weapon of attack are axes and crowbars, which definitely will not put out a fire. This vid is an example which proves the opposite. Job wel done!

@@peli71 Most videos that you see online from the US are large city departments that often use older practices or have crews that seem to not push themselves in their career. Most of the time you’ll find suburban or rural departments that show better actions.

I can show you plenty of US firefighters who hustle ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-w60XEuBo8Nw.html Jump to 5:45 ... Watch how fast they get water flowing. It's under 30 seconds from a 1 3/4 inch line Stockton Fire, Seattle Fire, FDNY, Newark OH, and so on. Any of those cities have great firefighters
@ericweiler6571
@ericweiler6571 Год назад
@@peli71 The US is different from the Dutch from a tactical perspective. The US puts a lot more resources on the scene and those firefighters you see standing around are either RIT or they're waiting to be rotated in once the other crews go into rehab. Just because someone does something differently doesn't make it better or worse. Speaking of Holland, the last time I was there I saw a house fire. It took the brigade more than 20 minutes to arrive. Once they arrived they did a great job putting the fire out, but it was pointless since the house was a complete loss
@ericweiler6571
@ericweiler6571 Год назад
Just curious. Where are you from? I'm guessing either the UK or Australia - both countries have great fire services. I remember the US sent firefighters for the 2020 bush fires in Australia and when they got back I spoke to one of the firefighters who went there. He told how good the Australian fire services were and how cool and nice they were as well. I was in London one time and there was a firefighter from the LFB I was talking to and he was the nicest guy. I was walking one morning and came across a station and he was standing outside so I started a conversation with him. He brought me into the station and showed me their engines and equipment. It was really cool. I love how compact those engines are. Of course the London Fire Brigade is one of the top fire services in the world. They are outstanding. I remember watching the Grenfell Towers fire and saw the firefighters crying because of the tragedy. I felt so bad for them. LFB are truly a world class act and I can't say enough about them.

One of the techniques I found valuable when I was the driver of an engine/truck with a pump, was to pull the 'tank to pump' lever before we left the station. This allowed the pump to be primed by the time we arrived and charge the initial line without hesitation. Obviously, if you are in a cold climate, you need to use wisdom when you do this.

Fantastic work by the FD here. For a lot of structure fires the structure is a loss by the time the first apparatus rolls up, but this was a rapidly evolving disaster and seconds counted, so they were pulling pre-attached lines from the moment the truck pulled up and those seconds made all the difference. The exposure was crisped, but the rest of the house was saved thanks to their quick action, as well as the neighboring house (which had already started a fire in the garbage bins nearby when the firefighters pulled in). Attaboy, fellas! You showed everyone how its done.

That guy walking around the whole time was a really big help. Guess it's beneath him to possibly hit the house exposure as best as possible with the garden hose.

Hell atleast the chief could of put some effort in and used the hose on the shed to slow its progression might not of destroyed the exposed as bad

The only real big issues I found here is the Chief officer jumping out of the truck before it even stopped and put the air brakes on, and the aerial flowing a master stream with firefighter's still inside the structure. Other than that this department did a phenomenal job with knocking down the fire. They knew full well what their jobs were and executed their plan without delay. Don't see that very much especially with volunteer departments. Well done brothers!

It's bothering to watch the house catch fire for the negligence of the owner of the shed. What can be inside the shed that caused the fire. Great job first responders.

Congratulations to the first arriving unit. They did a great job of hustling, moving with some what of purpose, getting water on the fire. The guy in the white shirt was doing a great job. He was actually the one who pulled the hand lines. Except for the guy who was the only one who had a mask on. You know 4401, there is a very good reason why they invented masks on breathing apparatus, it is so you do not inhale smoke from the vicious fire in which they responded to. In my opinion, either put the mask on, or let the guy with the mask on have the hose while you mask up. It helps prevent cancer to you. So if you guys read this, just know that it is safer to put the mask on. Other wise, great job by all that responded.
@MichielKlaver

It's all about the outdated material choices American Fire Departments make. American FireFighters who have to put their mask on (aka "The Porch Drill") will take anything between 30 seconds to a minute to perform. While their European counterpart mask-up within two seconds, because their helmets and masks integrate with easy clip-ons. The firefighters in this video probably knew it would cost them too much valuable time to mask-up, they preferred a fast knock-down over their health

Here we go with me being a Monday morning quarterback, #1 the narrator needs to calm down , he sounded too excited over a friggin shed fire.. #2 once again guys running around with portable radios With no PPE. #3 the skippy officer on the first truck jumping out of the apparatus before it was stopped. is totally not excepted. OH well glad everyone was ok.

Good thing they arrived when they did. A classic example of these modern homes, lightweight construction with plastic siding, going up in flames easily. If it had taken 5 more minutes to arrive, that house would of had fire in the interior.
