Smallville, Clark reveals his true identity to Lana, scenes from Season 5, Episode 12, Reckoning, Season 6, Episode 16, Promise and Episode 22, Phantom
Saw what you want about Lana, but when she was revealed the truth (both times) she was the most immediately accepting of it. Even of the fact that he is an alien.
@@derekmathews1557 Because Miles Millar and Alfred Gough admitted that they dragged out the Clark/Lana storyline too long at the expense of other characters and storylines. They said, “That was probably a three season love story that we told over six seasons," adding that they wished they had been “more adventurous with the other relationships." Clark and Lana in the comics have no relationship beyond high school, and attempting to keep Lana involved in the story beyond season 4 compromised the series because Lana simply didn't fit into Clark's post-high school storyline like Chloe and Lois did, and there was little for her to do other than be the girl Clark pines for. She wasn't a heroine like Lois Lane or Chloe Sullivan, she was just the love interest. Even worse, they made Lana into a Mary Sue stereotype; a perfect dream girl out of some 80s or 90s teen movie. She just wasn't that interesting of a character, and keeping her on the show beyond high school dragged both Clark and the show down, especially since Chloe and Lois were both far more important to Clark's storyline by season 5 than Lana was.
The CW has an impressive track record of hiring spectacularly beautiful actresses (and actors), but even among some of the most outrageously gorgeous women there are Kristin Kreuk stands out. She's just...unreal.
@@jneel016 The CW effectively IS the WB. The WB and UPN merged to form the CW. Seven shows were carried over the the WB's lineup to the CW, and One Tree Hill was actually one of those.
I'm a BIG fan of lyrics in music. First time I saw this episode, when "You're Beautiful" was playing in the background, it got me curious. Turns out, it was a good choice for foreshadowing...
Season 1: "I can't tell Lana my secret - the meteor shower of kryptonite killed her parents and I'm responsible for their deaths." Season 5: Doesn't even come up
Yeah, one major issue with continuing a show for so long is that one tends to forget a few things over the years while writing it. Although, one could argue that Lana came to terms with her parents dying and Clark came to terms that it wasn't his fault.
Really, I am so with Lois and Clark, but out of all the reveals, this one the first time with Lana was by far the best and most heartfelt one. Kristen was always a great crier.
@@ericcarney3121Actually Kristen was also accused because Chloe tried to get her to join, but was later proven to have nothing to do with the coocoo's.
5x12 was the episode that had the potential to take Smallville to new territory and reinvent the status quo a little bit. I didn't like the use of time-travel to reverse everything, but I did like that there was still consequences by having Jonathan die instead. I would have either went with Lana dying from the car crash or changing the time-travel to just Clark saving Lana from the crash, but never taking away the moment when he revealed the truth to her. That way, no matter which version it was, there was a change that mattered. Yeah, Jonathan dying did affect a lot, but his death didn't really change a whole lot. Lana knowing the truth would have changed so much, even improve the relationship between her and Clark, while still having the impact of Jonathan dying. And if Lana's death was kept, then Lex knowing the truth would open the door to so much more to come later. While I'm at it, the show should have made Clark and Lana the endgame of the series. I know that the actress wanted to leave later but both Clark and Lana have far better chemistry and it would have been made sense to do so. Clark and Lois in this show always felt forced, and I never bought the relationship between them.
@@brisk2.0brisk7 It wasn't really Lana leaving that ruined the show for me, it was when Michael Rosenbaum and the showrunners left after Season 7. While I have my issues with the show after Season 5, it still felt like Smallville. Season 8 - 10 just didn't feel the same, and a lot of it has to do with its best villain and writers no longer being there.
Have to completely disagree. The chemistry, banter and back and fourths between Welling and Durance was off the charts. Smallvilles Clark needs a no nonsense strong woman like Erica's Lois; that relationship would also be pivotal to both further shape the man he is to become and for her to give him fortitude during his most challenging and darkest times as Superman. As brilliant as Lana was for accepting his secret, I don't think her character would have been strong enough to live a life with Superman and the responsibility he has.
As much as I hated they reversed the perfect reveal to Lana, that devastating Jonathan theme more than made up for it. Too bad it meant the end of both Lana and Jonathan's characters.
It was a wonderful 7 years of Lana and Clark , The angst , sexual tension, the talents of entire cast no matter the scene or actors they intermingled so wonderfully . The scripts were Improvisingly engaging , As a fan of Superman legend i was thoroughly entertained , my emotions were sated Im sad for Allison Mack i thought she dark horse carried the show Great job everyone
The two big drawbacks to the show: 1) the constant "resets" about the secret being revealed to someone,...and then they don't know and we're back to the status quo. 2) Not getting a proper Superboy, in costume, saving Smallville prior to his moving to Metropolis and being known as Superman.
10:10 Clark: “Let’s be together. I can protect you from anything.” Lana: “Not this time you can’t”. Clark: “Um, ok then. I instantly believe you.” Hollywood LOL (well, Canadians anyway).
And Clark was ready to kill Lionel but John Jones aka Martian Manhunter stopped him plus Clark wouldn't have been able to live with himself if he killed Lex's father. His parents wouldn't have wanted that for him to kill in the name of Lana Lang? Uh no way, she's not worth it there was a point when Clark thought his dad was going to kill Lionel in another episode but his dad was like "He's not worth it" Jonathan had higher morals.
I love this show but I was always so frustrated with the teases. It made for good episodes but also upset me. Specifically talking about things like when Clark “finally” told lana and then he crushed the diamond and proposed to her. Then it all goes ends up with the death of one person. Lana is killed and clark can’t bare it so he goes to Jor-el and Jor-El rewinds time. So basically this big moment ends up as another tease. So it was a relief when Lana actually learned the secret and didn’t have it undone. It wasn’t just with lana either. It happened constantly with Lex, Chloe, others. Pete was the only person who found out and never had it taken from him. The show is great from start to finish but it also has its heart breaking moments. A lot of them pertaining to Lana and a lot pertaining to Clarks other love interest. Like the death of the Native girl whos name escapes me as well as the death of the blonde gal with powers whos name also escapes me (give me a break I am tired). But honestly one of the parts that hurt the most was when Pete came to clark snd told him he was moving away because he wasn’t safe and Clarks secret wasn’t safe if he was around. I really wish that Pete would have been a start to finish character like Chloe ended up being for the most part. The story has to progress into superman and love with Lois but personally I just adore the early seasons of it where the show has conflict that is perfect for the story but is also small potatoes. It makes it seem like a simpler time for him snd all he has to worry about are meteor freaks. That and love with Lana. Don’t get me wrong I like Lois but once that part of the story hits you realize that everything the character you have been watching grow wanted, he won’t get any of it and will have to veer a different direction entirely
Lana doesn't have it taken from her either right? She just had to disappear. Although, I agree with Superman, what the hell is Lex going to her that he can't stop? bullets bounce off him, hell a nuclear explosion wouldn't kill him. 🙂
But a Uzi liaded with Kyptonite bullets would kill him and all they have to do is spray them at a whole crowd of people insuring that he would try to block the bullets with his famous bullet proof self it would be too late to stop himself when he realizes what they are, so he would take multiple hits and die and about some of the crowd killed to.
I loved this show when it first aired in our third world country during my high school days😆It was our first television set at home so everything I watched I kinda likedI always wished I were Lana, so beautiful and perfect. I cried when they have to kill her character. Those were the times when I got to have favorites too.Charmed aired in Mondays I was Prue, and saturdays it's a Gilmore Girl and i am Rory then smallville on tuesdays I switch to Lana 🤣
I'm over 40 and I still love watching it and I'll make a few criticisms. I didn't like Clark's obsession with Lana throughout the 8 seasons, and besides, Lana managed to find a new lover each time. Green stones appear in every episode, and Superman is constantly beaten by people, and it is her human friends who save her. And it took 10 seasons to fly. Every alien character in the series could fly, but Clarke could not. I think we should have seen him flying from Season 4, but on the contrary, we saw him hiding in the barn... Clarke ❤ Lois
Most awkward and uncomfortable proposal I've ever seen. He's literally dumping all this on her, actually presupposing she'll be amazed, and then proposes marriage after showing insane and unbelievable superpowers, like...give her at least a weekend to process, my guy. Edit: Clark has Xray vision. Why wouldn't he scope out the wine cellar for any living person before going and showing off his super strength? And its the Luther Mansion...I'd assume someone is always there, or at least expect the security to be tight. For someone who is supposedly good at hiding his secret, he sure has crappy mission protocol. Nope, never mind, it's a CW show. I'm just going to drive myself mad picking apart the internal logic lol
lol, suspension of disbelief. Star Trek is significantly closer to hard sf than this, but they still have FTL, magic gravity floors, transporters.... lol. If you want to see fiction with real science, look up "Hard SF". 🙂
He was right even if he didn't realize it because Chloe is sister of Louis and Clark was with them both :) So technically sentence "So Clark scored on both Lane sister's" is true.
Why would she split from clark for i was really annoyed when they split again because i couldn’t have honestly seen them actually being together forever
Chloe as an actress looked extremely intelligent on this series I cannot believe that she fell into a sex cult and started breaking the law she is a very good actress I would’ve never known she was bat 💩 crazy
You know you cannot be Clark Kent even with a 1.000 lives of wisdom, because one thing is clear, at one point you would have killed Lex and Lionel Luthor out of rage... 😂😂😂
