@@richardcavell-clarke8928 I've long since finished the series. At the season finale funeral, the minister calls him "Henry James Olsen". In the series finale, we meet the real Jimmy.
Kryptonite's rare in most Superman stories but since Smallville changed Clark's arrival on earth with having a kryptonite filled meteor shower, it makes sense how it's so easy to find. Just gotta think of Smallville as an elseworlds story, especially since the multiverse has become popular recently.
I felt the same way at first but then you gotta realize it’s Superman! If 70% of smallville and Metropolis didn’t have Kryptonite, Clark would be super OP every single episode with no real stakes or consequences for anything, it’d get boring fast cause he’d always win you know.
I really wish they had kept this Jimmy until the end of the show. They had already changed the order of things happening like Clark meeting Lois before working at the Daily Planet and them getting together before he was Superman so I don't see why it mattered that Jimmy had a different origin too. I liked they at least showed his brother at the end but I would have liked to have gotten to know that Jimmy the way we got to know all the other characters.
That's not why they killed him off. They did it because of the budget. They already knew they were bringing in Zod in season 9 and didn't have room for him without getting rid of Davis and 1 other character. Instead of doing the right thing and getting rid of Chloe as well, they came up with the lamest cop out they could do and retcon his identity in the most disgusting way possible when in the season 7 DVD set, there was a Jimmy Olsen special where he was compared to other Jimmy Olsen's of the past. So it was clear from the time he was brought into the series that he was meant to be THE Jimmy Olsen.
I never liked how the writers pulled the "This isn't the actual Jimmy Olsen sike". I kinda wished they killed off Chloe instead of Jimmy. We should've gotten more chemistry between Clark and Jimmy, especially after finding out his powers.
he was the real jimmy, the actor had only signed on for that season and they didn't want to do the whole jimmy and clark bromance as the next season was all about starting the whole lois and clark bit, whicj tbh i think was pretty sloppy and could had gone another direction but i guess this is why you don't let actors produce .
Well imo this is the real Jimmy I mean reading the SmallVille season 11 comic rn Clark doesn’t even interact with the Jimmy we see in the season 10 finale that much anyway
The fact that Jimmy's younger brother is the comics' Jimmy, also ultimately being called Jimmy seems strange to me - It feels like the name makes the new version replace the old one, rather than honour him. Hearing "I'm going to honour my brother, the other Jimmy, with my photography work" just doesn't have the right ring to it to me. I think it might be worth making the original Jimmy be called Jacob - I say Jacob as the name James (which Jimmy is a nickname for) is actually a translation of the name Jacob, as they both mean "supplanter" or substitute in Hebrew, and this derives from the original Hebrew word, Jacob. This can be referenced in Jacob's opening episode - There should be a fun conversation about names and origin, and Jake, Jacob, Jim, Jimmy, and James should come up, hinting that Jacob could become Jimmy Olsen. The original Jimmy was also noticeably the same age as Clark and Lois, rather than being much younger than him, so I think the situation never really felt right anyway. Jacob should still look very similar to Jimmy to give him that Jimmy Olsen flair, but not have the exact same look, and if there's a revival show, he should be played by a different actor later on. Just for a clear view of the situation, to clarify the names of the two Jimmy Olsen characters in the original show: Henry James Olsen is the character we see for a few seasons. James Bartholomew Olsen (this is a comics accurate name too, by the way) is the comics character that gets his camera in "Doomsday", and is seen in the future in the finale. Noticeably, for the original Jimmy, it's also strange that a character names themself after their middle name. The original can now be called Jacob Henry Olsen, to match with the three letter full name of the next version.
This entire Season was a shit show. It didn't make any sense from a plot standpoint. Everyone kept blamin Clark and tellin him he needed to kill Doomsday (An unkillable monster) and every time he found a way to actually stop him they were like your takin the easy way out. It's like BITCH! WHAT PART OF UNKILLABLE DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?!
I mean the main issue with this season was Davis Bloom and by that I mean the notion of giving Doomsday a human half... which essentially meant Clark needed to find a way to deal with Doomsday but keep his human self alive. Let's also be clear Davis was an irredeemable prick who was far to needy and dependant on Chloe to the extent of emotionally blackmailing her to ever be a worthwhile character. I think what irritated me in Season 8 wasn't Doomsday it was the fact Chloe just sort of went with it, she completely neglected her husband so she could calm Davis's evil half but then guess what, both sides of him were evil. There was an episode Clark tried to send Davis to the Phantom Zone but Chloe said some stupid bullshit about Davis being worth saving and it being an unfair punishment.
@@nvwest Thought he was buried under the Earth’s mantle? He’s strong enough to break out but due to plot I guess not. I guess they want to leave him there so everyone can just imagine him coming back for a Death of Superman story.
