SMART METERS? - I'm Not Opting In - I'm Not opting Out - Undecided Until I Get More Answers. If a meter reader can get to 10 meters per hour of those who choose to opt out and the utility company can charge $11 per meter reading then that would generate $111 in revenue per hour and it's likely the meter reader only gets paid $25/hr or less. The opt out fees are most definitely excessive and should be considered price gouging in my opinion.
I still have not decided in that I don't believe I know enough yet.
🤓 I hope they fast track it... It should be non-partisan. My biggest problem with what they are doing is they force us to pay excessive fees for opting out. $3-$5/meter for opting out would be more reasonable. nyassembly.gov...
