Smash Ultimate Costume Origins - Sora / Mii Fighters 

Not sure if this is already old news, but when Sora is holding a sword item, he holds it and his keyblade the same way as he dual wields his keyblades in Valor form!

You forgot to point out that Timeless River Sora in Smash is a bit younger, same clothing but younger, probably due to the fact that they wanted to use KH1 Sora as a base for all of these costumes.

As a die hard fan of the Steamboat Willie cartoon, seeing Sora's P5 costume was like receiving a gift. I also love the fact that Sakurai may decided to include said variant and the Valor and Wisdom forms like a callback to the Disney Trio, like he was saying "Ok, we can't use them... HOWEVER!"

I'm feeling happy, but sad at the same time after everything that happened with ultimate. It was a long ride, and I'm happy to be part of it :')

Sora has the most easily identifiable costumes of any character in smash

Cool idea for a new series, ranking alternate costumes based on how true they are to their origins.

Sora's palette swaps are almost perfect. I'd just have added the yellow Master Form from KH2, the green Blitz Form from KH3, Rage Form from KH3, and Xion's armor from her boss fights in 358/2 Days. As for Timeless River Sora...he might have been added as a reference to the Classic Kingdom minigames in KH3, since those were styled after LCD games, like the Game & Watch games also were, and of course, G&W is in Smash. ...Only reason I can think of since the costume feels out of place as a choice.

I found all Sora costumes so cool, my favorite to use Dream drop distance. I really like how you explain each outfit and Concept Art of Sora which I found it so interesting.

Sora’s costumes are probably my fav of them all. Not a single one I find meh. Really my only nit pick is show they all use the same KH1 hair for Sora and kinda off, but I know modeling that was probably difficult to do, so I understand

Not that sora needs it, but I do have an idea for alternate costumes for him. In Kingdom hearts, Sora’s appearance changes in some worlds (Halloween town, space paranoids, pride lands, monsters inc.) so why not give him outfits to blend with the other series in smash (splatoon make his hair squid tentacles, xenoblade 2.. make his outfit light up like a blade.)

I’m disappointed that Sora’s costumes aren’t his costumes from specific levels (aside from the steamboat Willie one) but I get it

“Kingdom Hearts is a mess” you literally explained it with no effort; I’m sick of this joke that it’s some kind of nightmare lore when it’s pretty clear what’s happening, it just uses alot of weighty terminology and names

Something I noticed in Sosa's timeless river alt is that he isn't using the shoes and gloves from that appearance that looked more classic but instead monochromatic versions from his other alts

not gonna lie but i like how Sora's costumes are based on his video-game outfits and through the changes they got instead on going with color swap ones.

You forgot to mention this for the Octoling Wig, but the wig is specifically for the Splatoon 1 version of the Rival Octoling, as in Splatoon 2 the goggles were revised into sunglasses.

Awesome video Aaronitmar! The Mii costumes do give us a little bit of hope that they will be fighters in Smash 6, 7, 8, or etc. depending on whether or not Smash 6 will be a series reboot. Sora’s alternate costume choices are absolutely gorgeous (except for his original KH appearance and KH2 gray form, which aren’t as good as the rest, but are still good costumes imo) and as of right now I cannot pick between any of them. I also wanna thank you very much for this series and I really appreciate the hard work put onto each of these videos. These videos have truly inspired me to start finding 7 more alternate costumes for every other character I really enjoy. (Marvel characters are a notable example)

They could've used The Grid outfit to match Dream Drop's. It's also blue.

The series could probably continue on if you want to explain super smash flash 2 costume origins. Ssf2 gives a lot of characters unique alts and go beyond with the references.

Man, the one thing I really, REALLY wished that they would add, should Sora ever actually get into Smash, is Cloud’s clothing* from the first Kingdom Hearts game. That is like by far the coolest clothes (plus bandaged sword) that pre-teen had ever seen. Sigh…talk about a missed opportunity…. Still kinda sorta holding out hope (however small it might be) for an alternate costume DLC pack or echo fighters pack. *(Just, y’know, without the dumb-looking _single_ wing that sometimes gets added to it. Ugh…)

When you think about the selection process of all the characters in Smash, there is a lot to take in. For starters, the main goal of Smash Ultimate was to bring back every character. For base game, we got Snake back, who I heard was difficult to bring back (since Kojima left Konami). The only new third-party characters in base game were the Belmonts and Ken from SF. To be fair, I think Sakurai put Ken in because it was probably easy to add another SF rep, but easier to use Ken then Chun-Li. Most, if not all of the characters in the game are based on the 3DS/Wii U ballot. We all know that none of the characters added to Smash 4 were decided by the ballot, but were a part of it (Cloud and Bayonetta, but were easy. Bayonetta was part-Nintendo. Cloud was just easy from Square, but the content added was bare until they did Sephiroth). Joker could have not been part of it. His game released after. Hero maybe. I think he was more of a response to "put Goku in Smash" and the both use the same designs. Banjo yes, and Microsoft was supportive of it. Terry is unknown, but i can say he definitely was not part of the ballot or any requests, knowing how irrelevant SNK is. Byleth and Min Min were not ballot since they are Switch titles, and directly from Nintendo. FP Vol. 2 was not suppose to have Sora, just the first 5 (I wonder which character Sakurai would have ended with, probably Kazuya without Sora). Steve was a very popular ballot character, and Mojang was working hard to get him in for a long time. Sephiroth was a surprise, but I think it was more of a reason to add FF content. Pyra/Mythra to be fair, were requested since a lot of people wanted Xenoblade 2 rep, but they wanted Rex instead. Kazuya was probably not a ballot request by many, but I'm pretty sure it was Heihachi, since Sakurai did say that before adding Pac Man he wanted to do Tekken, but it was a challenge. Kazuya was just as much of a challenge, but he was a more flexible character. Sora was the most difficult to add, but Disney apparently approached him to add Sora.

Quick note to add, since it wasn’t stated in the video; The Octoling Wig is specifically a call to the first game, as the goggles it has on it is the same used in that game. ( No, they didn’t use them in Splatoon 2, if you haven’t known. Also yes, it is shown in the lore that Marina gets free from the goggles and escapes, but that’s a sunken scroll, and it has not shown any appearance other than that in Splatoon 2.
