It took me a bit to really get into the bomb, but man, my own experiments and seeing what you are doing with the bomb make this remote bomb look really damn good. I'm so happy link is my main.
Ford Zeits I’m so happy that I’m a falcon main so I don’t have to deal with this and the fact that down taunt is easily the most broken move in the game that they had to ban all taunts from online altogether.
for someone who loves legend of zelda and plays smash since melee always using link as a main no matter how hard it was this is just heaven, finally we can become the hero the smash world needed #linkmainsunite
Great job Sakurai. This time you really captured links gameplay. He is exactly as good as you are creative, confirming each kill is a new puzzle to be solved. And great job Izaw once again for such a great, easy to follow tutorial. Time to hit the lab! Even though I am garbage at this game lol.
tfw Breath of the Wild physics actually apply (for the most part) and it gives you more freedom now just like the game's theology I haven't played any Links in the past. But once I played around with bomb recoveries, I realize that this Link is exactly what I love in certain characters, having a creative approach to how you deal with certain situations.
Yeah, don't let anyone tell you the change to Link's bombs wasn't a buff, and a substantial one at that. The potential for this one move is honestly huge and I think it holds great significance for him in competitive play. Seriously, I think it's possibly one of the single greatest moves in the game, and Link's movesets is perfect for taking advantage of it. And besides that, it's just a really fun and skill-heavy move to play with. I'm trash as Link, but I still play him because his kit is just so versatile and promotes creativity. Can we PLEASE get more Link play in tournaments?
You are an absolute legend to me. I’m kind of a newcomer to smash, since I only played competitively for the last 8 months of smash 4, but I’ve used your channel as a library of info since day 1. I have undying respect for you as a player and a teacher, and I’d love to maybe play with you sometime in the distant future.
In just 1 hour, Izaw literally taught me how to play competitively (Smash 4), because in that hour he taught me about neutral, something I totally lacked and was unaware of. Ever since, I learned how to play Smash, be more proficient at my local tournaments and ever since I enjoy this game much more. The session cost $25, but it was totally worth it. I don't know if he is doing sessions anymore. But seriously, that was one of the best investments I've ever done in my life. Plus his tutorials are so well made and instructive. He's a monster.
Also, apart from your entertaining game play, your tutorials / scripts themselves are very educational, easy to follow and fun to listen to. Keep it up!!
I've been watching your tech videos for a long time and I love them! If I ever need to learn anything about smash I look at this channel. It always improves my gameplay. I really wish you had more gameplay commentary content. I wanna see more of your online gameplay. I think it would be really fun to watch 😊
Just watching you play makes me realize just how much potential each character has. I played as Link for about a week before switching to Ike, but I never even realized just how useful the bomb was, let alone some of his other options.
With just a single, small change they immediately captured botw's gameplay loop of improvising weird, novel solutions to problems on-the-fly in link's toolkit. What a sick character.
I love this video, the passion in it and your work! Thank you for your contents and... Such an amazing tool, that bomb! Can't wait to try and experiment more with it myself!
Some things to know: A returning boomerang will make a parabola on the bomb throw, larger the closer it is to you. Spin attacking the bomb and having it bounce on the enemy is great BM Boomerang + arrow on the bomb is a full screen bouncing hitbox
Guess I took too much time, I was also preparing a link bomb guide At least, I know someone that has a lot of knowledge on Link did it and not someone who doesn’t know what they’re talking about Thank for covering the subject Izaw, I felt like players didn’t know how to use bomb correctly
Great video! I picked up on a lot of this watching your combo video from a few days ago and was surprised at how fun Link felt in this game, and just how much depth the remove bomb has.
I’m speechless at those combos. How can anyone even do all that while having to concentrate on your opponent at the same time? It like you already know what will happen.
I'm so glad youre making content again, it doesn't matter what you're talking about it always sounds well researched and the quality is unmatched. I don't play link or iceys but seeing you talk about them just makes me want to start playing them! Can't wait for what the future holds with this channel.
2:35 Pichu: I hope you’re ready for an asswhoopin, cause your first line of defense is gone. Link: *pulls out entire arsenal of projectiles* Pichu: huh, ain’t that a kick in the head?
It seems training mode is actually useful. I’m so used to just grinding matches and learning this stuff on the go that it never dawned on me how much you can practice specific scenario’s to build muscle memory. Great Video!
This is exactly the content I was waiting for from you, Izaw. It's times like this where I'm super grateful we're both Link mains lol, thanks for the awesome video :D
I like how the bomb can also cover battlefield platforms. Literally just having it sit there makes it a threat and some characters will try to platform camp and get punished for it since Link can cover the other two platforms while the bomb sits there. Throwing it down while underneath the lower platform is a nice set up for it. Also soft throwing the bomb can make it deceptive for edgeguards since it will trickle off the edge of the stage and catch recoveries off guard. I like soft throwing it onto a platform and letting it softly bounce over and off the edge.
I picked up Link because of these sorts of plays and your videos are literally perfect for helping me learn all the subtleties of his shenanigans. Thank you. I'm really looking forward to more tech and combo vids.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!! Forever grateful as a devoted link main!! The breakdowns and slow mo makes everything click in my brain!
Thank you, nice vid as always! Still having trouble with playing neutral against fast ground characters, and his game OoS... Happy new year man, cheers
@cadet jones Who wouldn't be after waking up after 100 years ~ Legit though, love the bombing. Have yet to learn it completely, but this gives me more determination to go crazy with lvl 9 cpu's on training
From my experience, Link usually starts getting launched uncontrollably at around 150%, on par with Ganondorf and Bowser, but he also deals 20% with his simplest attack. Not to mention his potential speed and grabs.
I knew the bombs were going to be insane in this game! I'm going to have to master this one myself, and get better at teching so I can recover with it. Great video as always ❤
I’ve mained Link since brawl and only started watching IzAw in SSB4. Your advice is helpful, your videos are equally as helpful, and you’re really fun to watch in the tournament, many thanks for everything. TBH I was dreading playing Link in SSB ultimate, but you have shown that he still one of the most versatile and jack of all trades’s characters to play.(although I do miss the hook shot recovery)
You know, ever since i played sm4sh, i watched your games religiously. I loved seeing your link plays especially in tournoment, when i actually started getting good i noticed my playstyle looked a lot like yours. I always wanted to play like you did, cause you were fun to watch. Even if you lost, you were cool. You were fast and technical. I plan to watch your new link stuff just as much. Ans some day be like my sm4sh hero of hyrule Izaw.
This sounds really dumb but I was opening GTA V as this video started and its intro lines up perfectly with yours. The police sirens and gun shots and even finishing cinematic sound all just line up so well with the sound effects in your intro. Nice video as well mate; I knew I would at least use Link as a secondary from the demo/beta but this gets me even more excited!
Melee player here, been so confused about who to main in ultimate, this video made me realize I'm a link main (which funnily enough was my first melee main!)
Man these videos are really great to get started with. I was watching your art of olimar from smash 4 and was wondering if you were going to update it for ultimate. Im finding myself really struggling with him. Maybe i just suck :P idk . Keep up the great videos
Great and very interesting video, and amazingly spectacular and well-timed moves ! I actually have a request for you : Can you make a video on how to play young link as you did with other characters ?
You forgot to mention you can use the 0% F smash beam to make the bomb roll on the ground while also keep pressure with arrows. Other than that, good video.
Much thanks for this Video Izaw :) For some years ago i was in a clan and i train your moves from your Video the art of link and you make me much better :)
As a Link main since the N64 days who has been fumbling around with the remote, this is insanely useful. I'm glad I keeled and watched the recommendation. This video is precise and thorough, great work.
I feel the Link community is going to find some kind of tech chase infinite combo with z drop bomb and Nair into like a jab look and try to react to their opponent's option and just rinse and repeat
I absolutely love this video and I'm gonna go try some of this stuff right now. I will say though, with all the hype from young link's return and link's new design, no one's talking about my boy toon link anymore. Would you consider doing a video on him at some point? Thanks a ton for this video, you've helped me learn a lot!
