The premier episode on my new Slicer Master Class series. In this series, I will present advanced slicing techniques and other special topics. These techniques are applicable to any slicer. My goal is to teach you how to approach slicing to get the best prints possible and to tackle difficult geometries.
This first episode in my Slicer Master Class series shows how to use your slicer's extrusion width setting to improve the first and top layers surface quality. It also delves into using "preview" to view your slicer's generated g-code paths to see how these settings affect your part - a REQUIRED skill for any Master Slicer!
Note: although I will use KISSlicer for most of my examples, these Slicer Master Class techniques are applicable to many other slicers including Slic3r, Cura, Simplify3D, MatterSlice and others. If you have specific questions about any of these as pertains to a video in this series, feel free to ask - or better yet, support me on Patreon and have 1-1 access to me on my Slack channel!

Good advice! You can also use this when printing vases to increase the strength of the vase.

Simply and very well explained. I was used to increase my extrusion multiplier value to fill gaps like this, I will try your way.

Won't using 0.35mm width on a 0.4 nozzle be unreliable?

The intent of this video is to special case difficult to slice models to achieve better results. the basic idea is to deposit slightly less filament than "normal" and to coerce the slicer into depositing that into narrower areas. Since these will always be bounded by a full width extrusion there is not issue.

Ok, thanks :) ...btw I really like the tusk idea, I may try it on my printer. Either that one or the petsfang everyone seems to like.
