I think it would be kinda unrealistic to expect them not to. I think they fully intend to port those over as they represent a significant effort on behalf of the art and FX teams if nothing else
@@teejay1646They’ve stated that with most of the tier 5 skins, the majority of the work actually lies in the special programming that they have to do for all of the effects / transitions. So it really doesn’t make sense for them to spend a lot of time on this when the programming effort needs to go to the game. Personally, I would first rather see what tier 5 skins they can cook up in smite 2 using the new tools they have available to them before telling them to port over all t4 and t5 whose designs were limited by old technology.
The problem is, say I have a skin in Smite 1 that happens to get remade for Smite 2. For the sake of argument, let´s say that this skin costed me 10 euros. To get this skin (that I already paid for once), in Smite 2, I need to spend money on it again. Even if its cut down to only 5 euros, I STILL HAVE TO pay 5 euros more, for a skin that I already owned back in Smite 1.
Personally, I don't really care as long as the ultimate god pack carries over. This upgrade has clearly been needed for a while, I look forward to what new abilities are possible now with the new engine.
I mean.... I DID spend alot of money on this game since it was in very early release until now.... im still glad that there are upgrades coming. Also hearing the UI will be upgraded is amazing I ALWAYS thought it was just me when i olayed it on console.
I would love to have my skins but I understand it’s not financially viable. I think the bigger issue is the lack of transparency with Hi-Rez. It was sleezy of them to pump out multiple T5 skins this year while hiding smite 2 from us. A lot of people spent a lot of money this year on cosmetics not realizing we would be moving to smite 2. The policy isn’t the biggest issue, it’s the lack of communication
The true question is: Why would skins have to be transferred to a different game in the first place? If you spend money on a game that's not getting closed shortly after, then it's your decision. "While hiding Smite 2 from us" This way you sound so entitled, as if you're trying to paint yourself as some kind of a victim. Devs don't have to report you on every single thing they do, especially if it's about a developing a new game.
@@Prushinthespirit L take honestly, I wasn’t even complaining about the devs, but at the company in general. You are correct devs don’t have to tell us anything but it is okay for people to be upset about something like this. Am I going to throw a tantrum? No. But it’s okay for me to wish that they had released the information sooner. I’m still excited for the game, while still being a little frustrated at the same time.
As a long time smite player (season 1), what high rez is doing is totally reasonable. It's a business. They have to balance between continuing to make profit and showing loyalty to long term players. They could have done nothing. People are just acting like little babys
I would even say that making Smite 2 shows that they really care for the game. Is a very risky move, and maybe it was just easier for them to keep updating and farming Smite 1 some more years. I respect the call and im super exited to se how Smite 2 end up when released
Compare counterstrike global offensive to CS2 and smite to smite2 and youll realize how much of a money grab this is. Very shameless hirez.. very shameless...
It's kinda funny though. ''Pay us more money, so you can get what you already bought 100%'' Sounds like ransom ''Pay us the money if you wanna see your daughter again'' 🤣
Smite 1 will be "supported" It's servers are not shutting down, but it will be receiving no new gods after Nut Also most people DO hate most AAA developers
And if it's bad on both ends, community wants their skins, they can't get their skins then don't make the game. Everyone is pretending like games can't upgrade there engine without making a entirely new game, which is not the case
I've spent a lot of money on smite, probably around 1k maybe even more. Won't be able to get legacy gems for the vast majority of it either because i was playing on PS4 for the first 6 years I played and have since lost access to that account. I've spent maybe like, 50 bucks on my new account since I started playing PC. I wouldn't care if I didn't even get that 50 worth in legacy gems or even legit gems. I'm just glad they're making smite 2. It's a free to play game and any time you spend real money on a digital commodity that you technically don't even have ownership of, you should just count that money spent as money you never had. Or even like when you watch a streamer and they entertain you so you sub to their twitch or donate to their channel, whatever, you're paying for the entertainment. There are very few games I've played for years. Like 3 or 4, smite being one of them. I'd pay 1k for a game that gave me 8 years of entertainment, happily. Not all at once, that'd be too much for my budget, but over the course yeah.
Big facts bro! Y have more than 5k hours in the game and spent no more than 200 bucks, i already had my money back years ago just by playing the game Some entitled people thinks a company has to give you free stuff just because you bought a skin 6 years ago
See, the only skin I really care about that I bought, is Geb's Optimus Prime skin. Thing is, if I want him transferred, all three need to be, & they're a license skin, so the chance is either low or maybe zero.
yeah they have been ignoring 70% of their player base for years now. EU the biggest region, Arena the most popular gamemode, international, console players... no old fun gamemodes in match of the day rotation, 6 year old Arena map, no ranekd leaderboard or reward, no tournaments...
Not sure, but I believe you’d need to buy whatever the equivalent will be in Smite 2. Seems like they’re implying that the founders pack is like the smite 1 god pack. Not entirely sure though
Idc if my skins transfer from smite one to smite two at least smite 2 is getting an upgrade finally…. But one thing I am disappointed in is I missed few T5 limited skins due to work / family…. But I can never ever get that skin at all I am mad about it so if I can deal with it then ppl “calling smite 2 a scam” you guys that already own limited T5 skins can deal with it….
The only thing i'd want ported over despite spending thousands of bucks on skins is the emote that i drew for a smite contest, i want my love for the game carry over
yeah I was pretty annoyed at the announcement as well. I feel like if they just led with the whole "hey we will be porting some smite 1 skins over that will be 100% purchasable with legacy gems"(why wouldn't they lead with this??), And also you get 50% off purchases in smite 2 people (im people) would have been a lot less confused and angry
You don’t even own your skins in smite game! You own a license to use the skin. Also if you are buying skins in a game just realize it’s a bad financial decision. Simple solution: if you are losing your shit over skins stop buying them. This is a lesson in real world living. If you bought a Toyota Camry in 2015 and want a Camry in 2024 you DO NOT GET FULL VALUE FOR YOUR CAR! You substantially less than 50% of the cars value. Getting sick of all the “but my skins” crybaby bs. Thanks for the video hope everyone is having a good day!
most people play smite on crappy rigs or the most high end rig you can think of with graphics turned all the way down i mean seriously, who the hell are they marketing this game for?
I feel like people are overreacting to skins. They don’t care about skins that much surely. If they care that much they can still pay smite 1 and be happy with their skins. If I miss a skin or a god that’s not available yet, I’m hopping my ass back on smite classic to look at it. I just think people don’t like change at all.
People are delusional if they expect a skin from some old ass game to be working in a brand new game. Don't spend money on skins if you don't want to this to happen
Whats funny is Hirez could of told everyone no legacy gems. But they did.. technically losing them money.. those who are crying over it are ungrateful and shouldnt play
I don't care about the skins but the silence on if there will be an ultimate god pack is concerning. It was my first purchase in beta because the game was so fun and was a great deal.
Something that I haven't seen mentioned: if a fan favorite skin gets ported to Smite 2 that a Smite 1 player didn't own but wanted, then they will get that (better quality) skin in Smite 2 and (relatively) cheaply
New engine wont fix communtiy and game management issues we had in last 5 years tho. it is one of the msot divided communtiies out there. they ignore 709% of their palyerbase. 6 year old Arena map. no ranked eladerboard or rewards. no tournaments. no old fung amemodes, no eu itnernational console playerss etc etc no clans no conquest team que
Yup if they don't port those skins over and or if they don't then they better make the skins cost 2 dollars forever or I'm completely done with this game.
Smite is one of the fairest game. The game is free, they give so much for free. Free pases for events, free skins in every chest and sometimes you can even choose which one you want. Free big monthly updates. If you want all gods without playing you pay like 20 bucks, if you're smart and catch the almost weekly discounts they always have and it's like 7$ and you will get all gods free when they come out, forever. AND WE GET A SEQUEL FOR FREE.
I get amazed as how people cant see this. Is a free game and all purchaseables are entirely cosmetic. I saw my little nephew playing EA24 the other day and was disgusted by how P2W the monetization was, yet people complains Smite not giving more free stuff than they are already giving lol
if you look at the Steam charts Smite 1 is not bringing in new players they get new/returning players with new updates but those players don't stay so making Smite 2 in Unreal 5 will bring in new players because of how it looks graphically which some players care about that
So I'll echo what I said on twitter - I think Hi Rez has come up with a solution here that's more than reasonable and I agree, I wish they'd done a better job communicating some things, such as the fact that S1 skins directly ported to S2 will be purchasable, 100%, with legacy gems. I also want to address one common rebuttal I've seen - I know people want to see t5s ported, I have a few I'll miss in S2, but if the port time takes, on average, 2 MONTHS, that includes skins that would be simple to port, not the objectively far more complex t5s. And they noted that would just be a basic port, no UE5 upgrades. I think people would be upset if a t5 got ported and didn't get any extra umpf in UE5, which just adds MORE time. If Hi Rez were to consider it at all, I'd love to see it be a multi-year project where they port 1 or 2 a year, but only start once S2 is well and truly off the ground. Until then, I strongly agree with focusing on actually making a game that works.
Bun Hatz is like my golden child, Khepri Gun was a concept for a lot longer than Bun Hatz and while I did push for it (and still love the skin), Bun Hatz is much more sentimental to me
Dude its actually so sad that people are viewing a direct gameplay update as a "scam" because whales who knew full well that what they were buying was temporary can't show off the equivalent to a house payment they've paid in pixels
a 14 year old game with constant updates... FOR A DECADE +, we are just to ASSUME one day they will release a second game and make all our purchases nil? man, fuck THAT. i'm just gonna sell my fucking account and get my money back, fuck them.
Entitlement is something that runs in many people's system. I have no real attachment to skins I bought a skin pack in black ops 2 years ago and never saw it again that's how I see smite. I logged on yesterday and had devine legacy fully completed that just tells me. How much I have enjoyed this game and now I'm looking forward for what's next. Because I have seen tech demos of UE5 a d the possibilities are endless, they have to really shown a lot of heavy animated gods that I'm looking forward to see in smite 2 also the possibility of adventures maybe coming back and dynamic maps it would be pretty cool. I don't care about my 1000 + skins in looking forward what's next.
This shouldn’t even be a video tbh. It’s a brand new game with a 16 year difference in the engine. It shouldn’t be expected for them to remake every single skin. Outside of overwatch 2, when has a studio ever brought over a bulk of unlocks from the previous game? Anyone demanding for more compensation needs to just stick to Smite 1 if they don’t want to “lose” skins that badly
no the hate is earned you dont get to have people spend a fuck ton of money and then give us the middle finger and say you want your skins will to bad not happening fuck hirez and smite 2 is 100000000% a scam
yeah they have been ignoring 70% of their player base for years now. EU the biggest region, Arena the most popular gamemode, international, console players... no old fun gamemodes in match of the day rotation, 6 year old Arena map, no ranekd leaderboard or reward, no tournaments...
@@biackeyesmite6438 I think they should take down smite when smite 2 launches. Everything else I think they have handled perfectly but splitting their team and player base is a very bad Idea in my opinion.
